My favourite memory of DW6 is of playing through Lu Bu's story, turning up at famous battles such as Guan Du and Chi Bi and causing chaos. And, of course, the final stage, at Hu Lao Gate, when almost the entire character roster had allied against you!
Lu Bu's introduction in Hu Lao Gate on DW6 remains the greatest Lu Bu intro cutscene yet. No grand speech about how great he is or how pitiful everyone else is, he just storms through the rear, bodies flying all over in near silence, only a single soldier pointing out his presence. Sadly, the Flash attribute with a full musou bar turns an event into just another fight. Not even killing Diao Chan makes it better.
Probably the most in depth review of Dynasty Warriors 6 on RU-vid. This was my first Dynasty Warriors game, so I was not aware of all the differences. 10 years later, it's still my favorite Dynasty Warriors game. Also, i believe Zhao Yun, Zhang Fei and Lu Bu are the coolest in 6.
I didn't really enjoy DW6 as much as the other games in the franchise, but the designs were top-notch. Only a few characters have a meh design, but no one is at their worst either.
Huh... I actually get it now. There's a reason why everyone hates the game and I enjoyed it. #1 has to do with appreciation for the finer and subtle nuances. It was less of a game to me and more of an experience. Well, I've always been able to deeply immerse myself in content well. And #2 was that I played the PS2 version of the game. I must say, the additional characters really added to the game. Ma Chao, my favorite character, was playable with a fantastic and enjoyable weapon/moveset. Cao Pi's subtle badassery was forever imprinted in my brain in a particular scene with the Red Hare. The relationship between Ling Tong, Gan Ning, and Lu Meng added memorable emotional depth. And Taishi Ci's 1v1 with Sun Ce seemed to serve as a unique semi boss fight within this non-boss game. I really do have different memories than most people. I don't play Dynasty Warriors to satiate artificial desires of mowing down hundreds of enemies. I don't play Dynasty Warriors to grind for artificial trophies. I play it because Lu Bu is the biggest beast in the game, Sun Ce is interestingly charismatic, Cao Cao's ambition is founded upon his liberal insight about society/the world, and Zhang Liao is a talented skilled warrior yet humble and worth aspiring to. I see now... They're archetypes to me. It was more than just a game.
I got it on my 360 first. It was a long time until I tried the PS2 version, and I will say that it was improved as far as the content and story. But I just haven't sunk a lot of time into it because I can't help but want to play it in HD. Like the game has a chance at being better than it is. But it's good that people can enjoy this game. I have a friend who loved this entry. I honestly think he played it more than me and he's not as big a Warriors fan. lol
I think your viewpoint is spot on though. Major PS2 era fan and I think people focus too much on the renbu system. The biggest problem with this game that became a trend is Clones and lack of story modes for every character. If they changed those two things and kept everything the same I think this game would’ve been loved. People would’ve wanted the combo system back but there’s no way they’d have gotten away with a release like 7, a game that actually changed the tone and core of the series imo
Don't lie to yourself you know for a fact you don't play these games just for what's going on in their head you play these games for their combat mechanics.......
+Cozy Camper It's good to see someone have this opinion. After I beat the story and maxed out my favorite characters, I stopped playing it and leant it to my friend who loved it. I find the classics (DW2-5) more realistic with 4 being the most as far as costumes, movesets, weapons, and environments goes. 4 is also my favourite along with 8.
@@ChrisGildart 4 is such a classic. DW4 was the first one I ever played. I then went back and played DW3. This was on the original Xbox. I went over to a friend's house to play D&D and his older brother was playing Dynasty Warriors 4 fresh from Block Buster. I jumped in with his friend and him and all three of us kicked ass on the battlefield! Man what a good memory. We played all damn night.
DW memories are some of my favourite to hear. I remember hanging out with some friends who were playing DW3 together. I didn't ask about the game or anything, but I noticed a dude with a giant sword. I later picked up DW3XL at a pawnshop and found out that was Xiahou Dun. He is still my favourite character.
@@ChrisGildart I liked Dian Wei and Liu Bei when I started but later I found Pang Tong and Wei Yan. Damn I miss DW4 Pang Tong. That and that one dude in 5 or 5 Empires who had the deck of cards. Zuo Ci.
I'm pretty sure I've done that fairly recently. "Do I want to grab the rest of the achievements on DW9 for Xbox One, or do I want to work toward those last few achievements for DW6 on 360?" Sometimes you just want to finish things up and move on. lol
@@ChrisGildart i think in the updates nowadays, 9 looks better than play we have story mode for every character, i have xiao qiao and da qiao the best characters for me and i hate 6 dont do story mode to xiao qiao and in 7 she didnt ever appear on story mode, but in 9 the qiao sisters has a lot to moments and i love it
I take it that you wouldn't be a Sex Gravy fan then, he hates the Qiao sisters, I like them though I wouldn't say that they're my favorite females(that'd be Diao Chan, Zhenji, and Lian Shi). I don't know which one I prefer, I mean 6 certainly was better made(sometimes I would be in the middle of a combo, press Triangle and when I do whoever I'm playing as attacks someone not even remotely on screen, and sometimes it takes like 10 minutes for enemy officers to show up on screen when I am fighting them in 9), but 9 at least has characters I like that are new
Pros: * 6 is one of my favourite DW games from the soundtrack perspective. * The stages are very nice. 6 has my favourite versions of Xuchang, Hefei and Guandu. * Animation runs smoothly. * Despite the stories being more on the "What-If" side, they are enjoyable. Lu Bu and Diao Chan has my favourite stories. Cons: * Combat is easily the weakest aspect of the game. Clone movesets and the renbu system are the key problems. * Getting past big gates can be a real chore. Thankfully it was less so in 9. * Easily one of the grindiest games in regards to levelling up. Thankfully not so much with getting weapons and horses. * AI can be a pain in the ass even on the lowest difficulty. As someone who has been speedrunning this game, it does get annoying when officers that can easily be taken out with a few hits be incredibly competent with defense.
This needs a remaster but with more playable characters personally I'd love if the orochi was added as playable characters the only way you can unlock them tho is if you complete all mouso modes and get all characters to level 25
Yep. The worst things about this game imo were the clones, cut characters, lack of story modes for everyone, and then last, renbu system. Otherwise, it had a lot of cool and innovative features I wish stayed.
Give everyone story modes and no clones and this is one of my favs all time tbh. At least as good as Dynasty Warriors 5 vanilla, maybe better do to overall quality of life improvements.
hahahaha i play the ps2 version first and i love it. but now i play the pc version and get anoyed bcause it lack waepon type and move set from the ps2 version(ma chao is good with gs lol). but i still love it
People just complain about clones and Renbu in DW6 and ignore everything good that was present. DW6 set up a lot of great things that could've made the next game so much more dynamic, but nope; All that whining about clones in DW6 got us DW7 which was hot garbage.
I absolutely despised the character redesigns in this game. Alot of characters just didn't feel like themselves. Gan Ning went from someone who actually felt like a delinquent pirate previously, in this game he felt like an anime character in fantasy armor. Zhou yu went from an elegant swordsman who not only embodied the intelligence of war, but also the fire of Wu with his perfected DW5 design that made him look much more combat oriented with his red headband and the loss of loose sleeves. In 6 it felt like they just made him an "elegant" caricature like Zhang he with an over the top dancing weapon that betrayed the subtle elegance of his swordsmanship in previous games.
As awful the cloning was in this title, I really look at Dynasty Warriors 6 with a kind heart and mind because it felt very unique and refreshing compared to the other games
Dynasty Warriors 6 was my entrypoint into the franchise. For a set of training wheels to the franchise, its competent. Empires is also super stupid fun and I love it
Really enjoyed your videos. It's a crime you don't have many subscribers. Now onto my rant: I think that DW6 gets a little too much unjustified flak. It had some great things going for it and the series but because of the enormous critical and fan outcry a lot of it got cut. The renbu system was bare-bones but it had real room to grow. Attacks were flashy without being overly ridiculous like in post 6 games and running and combo charges were pretty cool. Counters looked amazing and rolling was pretty useful and made battles more tactical, as did the special attack tomes. Duels made a comeback and were the best and most atmospheric in the series. And last but not least, there were sieges, which were my favorite part of the game. Defending your engineers while they set up rams and ladders, and then climbing up walls to get rid of ballistas before breaking down the gate and mowing down the defenders was an absolute blast. I really hope at least some of it comes back in 9.
+Special_Agent_Goodwrench Dynasty Warriors 9 is looking to be shaping up really well. I might have to do a video on it some time. I agree that Dynasty Warriors 6 gets a lot of unneeded hate, but even when I played it for the first time I felt like a lot of changes were just executed in the wrong way. It had the potential to change the Musou series, but it was not fated to be.
Sweet. Looking forward to it. And yeah, I get why others felt that way, even though (and to my surprise) I really enjoyed 6. I wrote it off for the longest time because of the terrible word of mouth and played it only after 7, which is a shame, because gameplay-wise I actually prefer it to 7, warts and all. Here's hoping Koei won't be too afraid to implement new ideas in 9 (and bring back older ones that worked) but won't do them half-baked like in 6.
I started at 3 and all the nostalgia that comes with the game and the games following it. I would still say 6 is my favorite. It felt like a proper evolution to me personally, and it's flaws would've been etched out over time(I.E. movesets, stages, ect). The PS3 was super hard to develop for and that's what they went with and then ported it to the 360. All in all it felt great to me.
Incredible review man. I remember when this came out and seeing how much they really dropped the ball on it. Infinitely pressing square was the dumbest concept ever. This definitely started marking the shift in soul for the warriors series too. Battles started feeling less like actual battles. In DW3 or 4 it was tough to get more than a 100 or 200 kills per stage so it felt a bit more grounded. Which cannot be said about any warriors game they release today. The musous are obnoxious in everything past 6. You press it once and it kills like 100 enemies just like that. You're ending stages with kills in the thousands. I really think going a more realistic battle route was the way to go. Or at least keeping the same gameplay as 3 and 4. I also don't know what happened to the ai but they seriously just stand there waiting for you to kill them. In 3 they would actually block attacks and then fight back. The difficulty in current games is just increased by making them hit super strong but they still just stand there like idiots. There could be a whole video done on how much the series has changed from 3 to 8. I didn't even bother anymore with 9 so god knows what happened there.
I can see what you mean. 6 did decrease the overall quality of individual peons and make you able to rack up KOs faster. But going back and analyzing it at least on higher difficulties it still had the warriors spirit and difficulty of the older games much more than 7 onwards. 7 kept the enemy counts from 6, but got rid of all the battlefield/war simulator stuff and went straight 1 vs 1,000. Officers don’t even ride horses anymore for goodness sake. I think the actual biggest issues with this game wasn’t even the renbu system (though I don’t like it). If this game released with story modes for everyone and zero clones with everything else the same, I think it’d have a strong argument for being better than DW5 vanilla. 6 just shifted the way battles work, they were still epic imo and you were still part of an army though, but future games just took the enemy counts from 6 and then did as you say.
6’s battlefields are really immersive. I didn’t realize how much until going back and playing the old games from the new ones. It was on an interesting track that may have worked if Koei went the right way. DW7 was the start of a level of laziness I fear has doomed the series imo.
Unpopular opinion: I thought DW6 had some of the freshest, most original, and unique character designs, and loved the new, more fantastical direction they were taking the series. Sima Yi, Dian Wei, and Gan Ning (among other characters) REALLY benefited from having some more interesting and unique weapons too. Once more characters were fleshed out in the ps2 port and empires, they were on track for some great things. While the combat system wasn’t the best, I’d say it was leagues batter than what we got in 9. I wish they would have stuck with this art direction at the very least.
I may hate most aspects of DW6, but the art and design direction was top tier. Most of these stages are more memorable than other games. Just sucks it's not that fun to play. lol
I just discovered this channel, and I'm loving it. As for this game. If I were to rank DW 6, it would probably be somewhere in the middle (not the best, not the worst). That being said, DW 6 is my absolute favorite aesthetic in the entire series!!! Whenever possible in later games, I always 6 to DW6 designs (even getting it as DLC is I have to)
MR T DOES ????? Same I played it a few years ago when I was younger and felt like playing it again so bought it again and got every character within 3 days
DW6 was my first and for that I am grateful. I would unironically write an essay about what it did good, and what it did poorly. To sum it up, DW6 did a lot of small things right and a lot of big things wrong.
This is the best Dynasty warriors game and everyone is talking shit about this game! Play Dynasty warriors 9 that game is completely trash! On second thought never mind Dynasty Warriors 9 is great too!
Nostalgic Vibes... My first Dynasty Warriors that I was playing during my childhood days was DW4, a purely Masterpiece DW game in my opinion. My favourite Dynasty Warriors games of the Entire Franchise will always be 3, 4, 5 and 6 on PS2. 🤷🏻♂️✌️
the ps2 version of dynasty warrior 6 is much better than the pc version.. the ps 2 version has more musou characters with more and different weapon variations
I don't mind DW6, but find it's just not my style. I didn't like the combat system at all and found it less complex than previously when wasn't complex to begin with. But I agree that DW6 did quite a few things right in my book.
Dammm dw5 was so good it was like they changed everything to that shit of dw6 and don't get me wrong i had dw6 and the empires version lol i wish they could do a remaster to dw5 or make a dw10 like the previous dw 3,4 and 5
This is the first one i played and i LOVED it as a kid and played it with my brother. Probably my favorite xbox 360 game i got to play as a kid and I still think it's fun with friends.
It's honestly not a terrible game, but coming from DW3-5 I felt it just wasn't the right fit for the series. It's very similar in my opinion to something like Star Fox Adventures. It's a decent game, but not a good Star Fox game. Dynasty Warriors 6 is a decent game, but not a good Dynasty Warriors game. That being said, I played this a lot with my friends. I had one friend who really liked this version of Sima Yi and my other friend's favourite was Zhao Yun. So those two and Xiahou Dun are like the only characters I have maxed out.
@@ChrisGildart Well it's likely because I've never had another dynasty warrior's game to compare it to. I only remember me and my brother yelling at eachother to go places and accomplish things on the battlefield and if all of the games are like that but better I'd want to check those out too
The definitely are. Especially the classic ones like DW3-5. DW7-8 have more of a narrative driven map style, but if you're going for the 5 and 6 star weapons in DW8 you'll definitely want a friend to help you out with some of the other things going on. I would recommend DW4 for the classics and DW8 for the newer style.
@@ChrisGildart Actually the thing that made me like DW 6 was the difficulty, general personalities and satisfaction of doing stuff like leveling, taking bases and it just blended so well but it sounds like the other games are even better, which would you suggest the most?
DW5 has the bases for you to take over, but is a little less difficult. DW3 & 4 have the difficulty, but not the bases. Honestly, I'd still recommend DW4, but maybe check out my other reviews on the games just to see what they're like.
Idk for some reason, I really enjoy DW6, though I do agree the combat wasn't good. The other new changes were so refreshing like graphics, story, animations, music, etc. I thoroughly enjoy DW6E as well.
I actually wish they were able to bring the dw8 gameplay but give it dw6 atmosphere. The animations, music, maps and especially the way AI is constantly crowding and running around filling the screen looks so chaotic and feels so good whereas earlier and later entries the peons were so stiff and dry.
I think what I'm trying to say is in dw6 you don't feel lonely. Even if ally/enemy NPC didn't really fight they didn't just stand still and static and the maps are filled with constant motion. I still remember running up mountains paths with your ally NPC and tons of peons crowded together it really made you feel like you were part of an army whereas every other entry youre alone running into static enemies that stand still until you get close enough to just circle you
it is just me or did anyone think dw 6 mechanic is the most exciting warriors game ever, if you guys hate the renbu system is okay but what makes dw 6 is exciting to play is we are required to do the dodge movement and pay attention to every enemy attack (especially in chaos mode) where I really enjoy the gameplay. I think every warriors game should include the dodge mechanic into it's very gameplay especially when fighting officer. I too are a long time warriors game fan, but everytime there is no dodge mechanic on its game its feel very bland gameplay and not challenging.
I played this when I was a kid, didn't realize it was a bad game. Even though its bad, ngl the soundtracks slaps. My mom and I played this when I was a kid, we had a great time. Man, I guess whats good of it is just the memory of playing it with my mom. I miss this game, really makes me feel nostalgic
Lol,this was my first warriors game I've played and I had SOOOO much fun with it,maybe it was because I was 8 at that time and just had a ton of time on my hands. I know it is weird, but DW4,6,8 ; SW 2,4 and the WO series will always be the most fun for me
If I can make a point about the combat. While I dont like the weapon clones, the limited musou characters and the lack of special weapons. I can definitely appreciate that those that did have variety also had some basis in real life weapon styles/techniques. I felt that it gave additional realism to an era where weapons were much more simplistic and common.
I love Dynasty Warriors 6. You missed the part where Sun Shang Xiang and Yue Ying (before she gets her unique weapon) have bows. You didn't mention the actual innovations they made; it's not just RPG mechanics, they added in the fully fleshed third faction mechanic from Warriors Orochi, and actually better, as the yellow faction COULD actually be either allies or enemies. And also you missed the single best Musou Mode from all the games, which is Lu Bu's, and how his entire story is just gatecrashing major battles and effectively forcing a 2v1 scenario. So fun.
This was my first ever experience with the series, I played this game SO MUCH as a child. Now I'm 13 going on 14, and I have two other games: DW8 Empires & DW9, And I Love Both. I can't play the game that started my love for not only this series, but Chinese history in general because we got rid of our XBOX 360 about a year ago. and for me, games are like music: It doesn't matter if it's good, it only matters if I had fun with it. And when it comes to DW6, I'm probably going to have so much fun if I ever play it again.
Dw6 was fun at first (I had ps2 version) and I'll say of every single character I played with (all of them) cao pi was honestly the only one I liked which was sad the weps killed me but I remember the only wep I think they improved on was cao Pi's (mainly because they gave ppl alot of slow Bulky weps and I don't like no slow characters ) it was fun for a play threw but never going back I'll stick to 5 empires 4normal and warriors orochi
Wow dw6 has more content on PS2 more than 360? Wow that pisses me off wtf. I think dw6 is definitely the worst one in the series by far but I feel like getting it again as I feel like I could still enjoy it somewhat despite it's flaws.
Jackal Gold Kick year on and now 9 is. 7 was also disappointing as well. 6 is decent because it had for me the best individual story with lu bu and him having the quad spear looked like he was more of a badass then orochi, Odin and Zeus. But yeah it’s defo one of the worse. It’s better than 7, 1, and 9
*Pros* *Heavily improved visuals, many characters' designs were more exotic, animations look great *Kickass soundtrack *Awesome weapon designs (the clones, unsurprisingly, got the coolest weapon designs since they only had one design instead of 3) *Ironically, fewer "clones" than 7 *Still maintains satisfying grinding system *Several new convenient features and attacks (i.e. horse summon[though this was in Warriors Orochi], dodgeroll, grapple attacks while guarding, charge dash attack [all of which got scrapped and never readded for some reason]) *Even more enemies and officers are present on screen, adding to carnage *Improved pronunciations *Overall voice quality improved in a way *Camera rotation *Empires added in the uncloned characters from the PS2 version with the PS3's graphics, added Meng Huo (who was readded in the PSP version), removed renbu, and brought back unique horses and character creation *Cons* *Seven characters were removed, no new characters were added, and almost half the roster got cloned movesets (which also didn't get their own Musou stories) *Some character design/voice/weapon alterations were a bit controversial *Not enough stages, instead settling for several scenarios per stage *While the voice quality itself improved, the acting and dialogue is a significant drop from 5's satisfyingly convincing performances. Cutscenes are much blander and only have a few BGM tracks. *Musou attack strings aren't unique *Only three different weapons per character with little variety *No items *No Xtreme Legends or new modes in general *PS2 version had, obviously, heavily downscaled graphics and removed several features like swimming and dueling *Aerial charge attacks were all the exact same ground slam attack *Only a 2nd unlockable costume per character rather than 4 total Also, Jiang Wei and Da Qiao were readded in Strikeforce 2 (Japan only) with unique weapons (as later seen in 8), and then promptly recloned again in 7 . Cryptic.
Man you got me fully back into the musou genre. Watched most of your vids few weeks ago and the craving came back. Anyways idk if you have played dragon quest heroes 2 but i remember you saying you wanted to try out dragon quest. Its way more dragon quest than dynasty warriors plus its a good challenge. If you have what did you think of it?
The biggest CON for me with this game was the drastic change in HP Bar Size :'D I remember playing the Demo and just going, "Oh... Oh no, this ain't it" and never wanting to play this version of DW ever again. I'm happy with 3 and 4 :)
This one is the Black Sheep of the series. I hate this game, I prefer DW2 over this. I didn't feel like I'm hitting something, the combat system is just so weird. It's hard to find something positive about this game other than some character designs.
+nemesis3587 I do enjoy this more than DW2 personally because I find there's more to do in it. Even though we lost so many characters in the cloning sweep, I still think this has more to stand on and more to offer the player than DW2. Also, I may not have gone into detail, but I think the level design for this title was pretty on point. Most Warriors titles have memorable stages, but I think DW6 had the most expansive and detailed maps up to this point.
Pros: - "Welcome to China" track, best in the DW series Cons: - Literally everything else - They cut Zhu Rong! Gets its own con b/c *how dare they!!!!* SW2: Introduces calling your horse Chris: Not a peep DW6: Copies SW2 Chris: Praises DW6 for adding the ability to call your horse O_o This review was so oddly positive for such a bad game. It was a really informative review even if I think you were too kind. You actually went in depth on the gameplay and mechanics. Why didn't you do this on the SW reviews?
It seems like you spend way too much time talking about cons even in your videos of the titles you claim to like. For instance, you talked more about what you liked about 4 in your video about 5 than you did in your video about 4. Also you lump the base games with their expansions and jump around talking about them all in a disorganized and inconsistent mess. I'd gladly watch an updated video where you spend actual time explaining things instead of seemingly rushing to end the video.
I personally liked DW6 might b nostalgia/bias being my 1st owned warriors game, played it with friends at a friends place after school till we beat it/unlocked everything and I got my own copy. I did play DW5/DW5E/DW tactics and the Tessen games but they were my friends games they brought over.
DW6 was the worst game Of the series. Something about it made me fall out of touch with it. I tried my best to get into strike force but it wasn’t the same anymore. They changed almost everyone’s weapons. I know that shouldn’t be a problem but it was the ones that I personally never wanted their weapons nor movesets changed. INCLUDING F***ING ZHOU YU’S SWORD AND COMBO! YOU CANT DO THIS TO HIM 😭
I rather play Dynasty Warriors 6 on PS2 than PC So many character has change the Weapon *Machao on DW6 ps2 He using Great sword *Taishi chi *Zhang he with claws *Ling tong with his double stick/Nunchaku They all replaced with the fucking Spears and the Same Move/Ability My Sunce cannot be the Unique Officer/Roster in the Game (PC/Xbox) So many Clone on PC version Ps2 pure Gold
10:00 I’ll take less weapons over the weapon clutter in 8. What is the point of being able to equip every weapon on every character? You are going to equip the best weapon you have at the time with the most compatibility. It retarded spending so much time selling weapons. The story mode is blah. And even on chaos the game is just too easy.
well, I love this game before the enviroment, graphics (and it's quite hard, like old era Warrior) and Renbu system, I mean It was something new I hope they can bring Renbu system back, without clone moveset :3
I played the Ps2 version as we didn't have a PS3 and didn't want to switch controllers or we might not have had an Xbox 360. We figured the Ps2 version would be fine. It sucked. Playing two players wasn't possible as it slowed the game down to a point that it wasn't even playable. Single player had bad slow down too, maybe our disc was scratched or something. Anyway, match that with the combat sucking and I hate DW6 with a passion.
1. we dont need complicated maps. dynasty warriors going downhill because no kids like to do whole missions to progress. 2. the character level and skill tree simplified the gameplay and make characters have more personalities. rather than renbu, i prefer unloking combo with skill trees. it made you want to level every character to try their moves. 3. i prefer tome than rage system. its just more fun. rage art just feel nothing special. 4. i prefer unlocking horses via secret missions just like dw5. training is fine but looking for specific traits is tedious. 5. most important. if they have moveset exactly the same as dw8, i will be happy. idk why they clone weapon over and over again. no need for making new move. we just hate clone weapon.
People shit on this game, but 100% honestly I kind of liked it, it felt like a breath of fresh air even if I didn't like some of the changes they made. I know the addition to a block attack was also cool af back in the day (shame they discontinued it instantly) since it helped me a lot on higher difficulties. I know it's extension game, Empires, was also really nice, its combat with the added abilities you could equip felt good. All in all, despite all the flaws, the entirety of DW6 and its extensions had the vibe of the "rule of cool" thing that just had a different feel to it. My only real complaint is that story mode in 6 was buried rather hard, only allowing certain characters to have a musou mode. I know that made me just straight up not play half the roster with that change until Empires hit, which by the way, was the last Empires game to get English voiceacting, which is beyond infuriating (especially since in DW8E they actually straight up promised us they would have English voiceacting, but lied)
What made me love this game was the Empire series that fixed a lot of things I didn't like about the original game definitely love it Dynasty Warriors 6 Empires was really fun to play
One thing I found weird with this game is how unsatisfying the mosou attacks are with certain characters. Like with Dian Wei and yue ying. Because she moves so much during her mosou half of her attacks typically completely miss opponents. Another weird thing is the difficulty scaling. It's not insanely hard but starting off with normal difficulty can be pretty difficult starting off. That's usually not the case with the previous DW games. Overall I don't dislike the game but just like Dw9 it just feels rushed and unfinished
The fact that all the points you’ve made weren’t even all you could’ve pointed out. There’s just so much wrong with the game and what could’ve been done instead to make the game more fun and bearable.
only things I hate about this game is the fact that the rare horses are just probabilities and literally Renbu, like why! it kills the fun if your playing on harder difficulties.
This game could have been best if it just had more characters overall, more characters with musou modes and more maps or levels and lesser characters with cloned movesets.
i still call him cow cow. i cant help it. its just sounds better, easier, and fitting compared to sao sao lol and we’ve been calling him that since the first game, so sue me
The worst of the series hands down. I just didn't like the direction they took the series in starting with this one that much. I liked most of 8 but didn't much care for 7 and 9.
I still think DW8 is probably the best for anyone to jump in on. It has loads of content, especially if you get DW8XLCE for PS4, Vita, or PC. But DW6 can die in a fire.
It’s funny how this one is hated that much. It actually was this game or 7 that were my introduction to Dynasty Warriors/Musou games so for me this holds a very special place for me. Me and my brother had Beyond a blast with this game and would play it for hours when we were kids. I recently got Pirate Warriors 4 and I absolutely love it, it’s so much fun and brings me back to this game with memories. I can’t wait to see the next game and what not for that series because I definitely can’t wait to see them do the whole story of one piece and use everything they’ve learned and add those characters
I personally started with DW3XL, so DW6 changed a little too much for me. Kinda felt like it was handled by a completely different company. But it's not all bad. Also OPPW4 is definitely one of the best out there!
The worst things about this game imo were the clones, cut characters, lack of story modes for everyone, and then last, renbu system. Otherwise, it had a lot of cool and innovative features I wish stayed. To be honest, I think even the renbu system and cuts would’ve been fine if everyone had a dedicated story mode, and there were zero clones. The battlefield immersion, armies, siege system, bases, and everything else was just fine, it was just a literal massive downgrade content wise from DW5 and its expansions. We were just coming off the most packed content warriors games at the time as well, including the warriors orochi series. Such a tragedy. The series kinda went the wrong way after this. Outside the story mode presentation and cutscenes, Dynasty Warriors 7 is lazy and boring and missing much of what made the ps2 era games great. DW8, especially with XL, makes up for some of it by being content packed and having 0 clones, but still is missing that battlefield immersion. Series went waaaay too much 1 vs 1,000 and is missing the battlefield immersion/war simulator factor that made past games great, and DW9 went backwards from 8 tremendously and double-downed on the one man army shit. All that on top of terrible enemy ai where peons are useless and you have a boring game imo. Anyways, rant over. But DW6 imo has more of the spirit of DW by far vs DW9, and is the much more salvageable game. DW9 is fixable for a different warriors game audience (more 1 vs 1,000 than war/battlefield simulator plus the ability to do that once maxed with some skill) than the hardcore ps2 era fans imo. DW4 + XL is my fav btw. That’s the standard I hold these games to overall.
I will also add, the only game I think its okay to be more whacky and for you to be more of a wrecking ball one man army is in Warriors Orochi games. Hence, Warriors Orochi 1, 2, and 3 Ultimate are also incredible games imo.
