A very impressive team of lawyers here. I think their strategy of sticking to the facts and not putting the emotional pressure of "race" on this jury, was brilliant. The jury knew the color of the victims skin, let them put their own opinions about whether or not the murder was racially motivated, but for their part of the trial just stick to the facts. When the defense attorneys tried to make racist arguments and made racial comments, it just frustrated and angered people imo. It muddy the water to the murder. It might have been a reason for their actions, but the actions were the crime, not the thoughts of the killers. The trial was very interesting to watch, the judge was very good, professional and fair. It's very frustrating to watch a trial where the judge is overly emotional, angry and seemingly bias. When a judge stays calm and professional it does not take on the ugly face of bias.
@76482
@76482 2 года назад
So much agree with you! Too many times I've seen the focus be on race instead of just sticking to the facts of what happened irregardless of color or ethnicity. If anything making race an issue might allow juror minds to conjure up hidden or unintentional biases and excuses to absolve the defendents.

I am very thankful for the guilty verdicts, and the skills and dedication of this prosecution team. I pray for every family that has been destroyed by this senseless killing. I am an older white male from the South who was taught how to safely handle firearms and trained to shoot by my father who was a WWll vet. I come from a military family and I am trained very well in the use of many firearms. However I have never been so paranoid, or frightened that I felt the need to carry a firearm for protection. I am not law enforcement and I am not trained as such, so I will not be acting like law enforcement. My father was an MP and these are three lessons he taught me. #1 Never point a firearm at anything you don't intend to shoot. #2 Don't go looking for trouble. You will probably find it and will not like what you find. #3 If you don't carry a firearm, there is no possibility of a fight escalating too far, where you shoot someone. Firearms NEVER de escalate a problem. Showing a firearm, and especially pointing a firearm is a direct threat to that individual. No private citizen has the right to threaten another person without solid reasons. The mobs who arm themselves with AR-15'S, 30 round mags, and body armor and insert themselves in Black Lives Matter protest know that others perceive them a threat, and enemy. Their presence only escalates an already emotional, heated situation. The firearms laws must be changed so these paranoid, frightened people can't arm and insert themselves in volatile situations where the possibility of the death of an innocent person, or persons, by them can't be claimed self defense. Any prejudice, paranoid, frightened person who chases down an innocent person, or goes to protest with a mob of others must not have self defense as excuse for their crime. There is too much hatred and death in this world. I pray that Ahmaud's mother and the rest of her family will find peace and comfort in God's loving arms. Peace and love to everyone who reads this and may this country find its way.

Not sure what state your in but you stay out of my states gun laws. I live in a 2A permitless carry and we do not have violent crime in my area. The 2 deaths this yr that have occurred were from a dog attack. Maybe if they were armed they would still be here. Do you also feel the same about the armed black militias that were protesting outside the courthouse at Arberys trial? I don't have a problem when black people legally exercise their 2A rights. Or are you one of those that think the police will come save you? If you are, you may need to read these Supreme Court decisions Warren vs District of Columbia Castle Rock vs Gonzales Deshaney vs Winnebago County Police have no duty to protect. Why do you think these Dem mayor's let the rioters burn and destroy neighborhoods. Because they can't be held liable. One more thing I was not paranoid when my ex husband stalked me and threatened to kill me. My 2A saved me from him.
@jamesferris4573
@jamesferris4573 2 года назад
@@rockytoptennessee1261 As I said I am well armed and better trained than most. If someone breaks into my home I will protect my family by any means possible. However I will not gather in mobs with AR-15'S and other military style garb and look for trouble. When I said paranoid, frightened people who can't go out without being armed that includes all colors, races, backgrounds etc. I support Black Lives Matter because being an older man who grew up in poverty I saw too many times first hand how black's were treated. You complained about black militants who are armed. I have news for you the black militants are doing this as a reaction to centuries of armed whites who do not value their lives. I live in a state with Constitutional carry. If someone carries concealed and is responsible no one knows they are armed therefore nobody feels threatened, or uncomfortable. I personally will not carry, but this type of carry doesn't compare to those with AR-15's, 30 round mags, body armor and a side arm that gather in unorganized mobs. These untrained mobs often head straight toward situations that are very volatile. I have no problem with neighbors watching each others homes I am part of a neighborhood watch program. This is what makes my decisions different. I value all human life because I have seen too much suffering and death. There is not a single possession in this world that is more valuable than a human life. Too many have become judge, jury and executioner and there is no place for that in this society. This country was strong because it was diverse and made up of many different cultures. These many cultures came together and made a strong United States of America. We must stay united as a country to survive. No one can defeat our incredible militarily, but this country can, and will crumble from within. Abraham Lincoln said "A nation divided against itself cannot stand". Food for thought. By your name I believe I come to your state frequently because I have family there.
@jamesferris4573
@jamesferris4573 2 года назад
@@rockytoptennessee1261 let me address the problem with too many firearms in this country. My wife had a cousin that had a salvage yard. He was watching his four year old grandson, while his mother was having another child. A man rode with the pair out in the country on the pretence of selling a junk car. When her cousin stopped so the man could open a gate, her cousin was shot three times in the side of the head with a. 357magnum. The baby was sitting in the middle of the seat with his hands over his ears when the man shot him three times through his little right hand and head. The babies mother wanted an open casket so everyone could see what a man with a gun had done to her baby. As I viewed that innocent child in that casket with what was left of his right hand and right side of his head by blood ran cold. A little later two days before Christmas my 86yr old grandmother and 17yr old cousin was murdered by my cousin's ex-boyfriend. My grandmother had a gun that she knew how to use well. However the boy broke in the back door real quite and was on them before they knew. He brought a large Bowie knife and ordered my grandmother to get her handgun for him. He then fired two. 38 hollow points, point blank range into my cousin's head. Next two into my grandmother's head and finally one right between his own eyes. These totally unnecessary murders happened quite a few years ago and firearms were very common and easy to acquire. Thank goodness a few governors have decided to adopt Constitutional carry so no one has to have a finger print test and practically anyone can legally carry a firearm. Thanks to loop holes at gun shoes, private sales, and ghost guns the streets are flooded with firearms that are hard to trace, or are impossible to trace. Now the gun laws are trying their best to make anything and everything legal.

It was a wonderful moment that a nearly all-white jury in GA showed no race-based cronyism - as may have been feared by many - and come up with a verdict based solely on the facts of the case and the law as given to them. That's exactly how our justice system should work. Hopefully this will now also discourage predominantly black juries from nullifying or hanging in other cases with "racial" undercurrents, such as in the case we just saw in TX where the jury hung on a verdict of a black Kenyan serial killer charged with the murders of 18 people in which the man's guilt was far beyond a reasonable doubt. Black americans need to show that they can come just as far as white juries like we saw in Glynn County in terms of putting aside any personal predispositions and weighing and applying the facts in a criminal case honestly and objectively no matter the race or ethnicity of the defendants and victims involved.

They were all hunting Arbery. Its the dad that instigated the whole thing by running into his son Travis’ home and telling him to come chase Arbery when he saw him running. The dad raised his son to be a racist just like him. The neighbor Roddy saw a black man being chased by 2 white men and instead of thinking maybe the white men were doing something wrong and that Arbery was the actual victim, he assumed Arbery “‘must have done something wrong” and joined in on the hunt. All of them were guided by their own racism and hatred that day. They got exactly what they deserved.

The Citizens arrest law which has since been removed from the books said that #1 They had to have seen the crime take place with their own eyes right then and there #2. It would have had to be a felony. According to the DA Linda Dunikowski at most Arbery committed simple trespassing. Those were the key parts of her case. And the homeowner never called the cops and filed a complaint about Mr. Arbery entering his property, which several other people had also done. The defense couldn’t get past the fact that if it wasn’t lawful citizens arrest, everything they did after was also unlawful. That’s why they were convicted. They had no right or authority to chase Arbey at all. That’s the whole reason the McMichaels and Bryan are going to spend the rest of their lives in prison. This is my last reply to you. I’m not going back & forth with someone who clearly either didn’t watch the trial or can’t comprehend what was argued by the prosecution successfully. Have a good day.

This verdict was correct under the law. This is a true tragedy on all sides, however it is irresponsible to still be making race and racism a part of this case. The young Mr. Arbery did not deserve his fate, but he was not out for a jog that day. Joggers don’t stop in the middle of their work outs. The young Mr. Aubrey committed a calculated and repeated misdemeanor trespass on private property, a misdemeanor crime, and was fleeing the scene to avoid police. Again Mr. Aubrey did not deserve this tragic outcome from this encounter. A serial trespasser , fleeing the scene to avoid police of any race, religion or nationality would have triggered the events of that day, and the fate of the McMichael’s, trying to make a citizens arrest with out witnessing a felony crime would have added up to felony false imprisonment, which if met with the same resistance would have led to the same tragic outcome. A true tragedy all the way around.

That's a lie, a civil trespassing is not a misdemeanor. And it's only trespassing if the owner of the empty construction site says so. Looking around unbuilt homes isn't a misdemeanor and wouldn't even get you a ticket 99.99% of the time. The perps never saw Mr arbery trespassing or anything else that day, as they admitted at trial. They were 100% to blame. Your ridiculous comment about joggers just shows how lazy you are, and probably haven't run a day in your life.
@Rod007man

@@joedawg713 I run marathons. When I train , I run jogging trails. You don’t want to run in the street with no sidewalk, you really don’t want to run in the middle of the street, it’s just not a smart thing to do. I also run with proper running gear. Socks are extremely important. No runner will stop, to take a break in the middle of a run, the run or workout must be completed. You really ruin the work out by stopping before the run is complete. No point in stopping at a constructiom site you have already trespassed on several occasions. Trespassing is a crime, and the police where called by the neighbor on Mr. Arbery. “”Georgia law, criminal trespassing is the misdemeanor offense of knowingly entering another person's property without consent/authorization .”” Look it up. If Mr. Arbery would have waited for police to arrive instead of fleeing the scene, this tragedy could have been avoided.
