Hey interested in trying this one, do I need to bring a phone to navigate this for the first time, or is it pretty straight forward once you find the trailhead?

It is fairly straightforward. The uptrack does cross the downtrack twice but it's pretty clear which one is which. Also, you'll come to fork somewhat early in the climb. Straight up or to the left with a sign that says 'BLUE'. Go left for an easier climb.
