Love this channel and the reviews. I would note, that having used the ProTeam as a custodian at a 500 person private school, this thing handles debris year round. In practical use, no one uses the wand on the carpet, we just lift it up on an angle and drop it down on the debris and it sucks it up without shooting it backwards. Best vacuum I've ever used.

Glad to see you got your particle meter. Can't wait for dry particle tests. I would suggest a test in which you don't "seed the air" only because it will provide the most practical results for most homeowners.

This is based on the Electrolux Discovery series that was introduced in 1986 with the Discovery II and even uses the same bags. In fact, ProTeam is the current Upright OEM for Aerus (Formerly known as Electrolux).

Indeed, this design was originally an Electrolux, the first of its kind to have an onboard hose presented as the Lux 4000. Electrolux sold the design in 2004 to Proteam, hence the nearly identical design.

We purchased the Proteam 1500xp for use in a retail store. It worked for 1 week before a thermal overload tripped and it had to be taken for service. It was still under a 5 year warrantee. The authorized service center said it was clogged with debris and that wasn't covered by warrantee. I know that we unclogged it multiple times and that it wasn't clogged when we brought it in for service. We were charged $160 for the cleaning and some parts were replaced all of which I believe should have been covered. The technician told us that the vacuum has to be broken down and cleaned every two weeks in order to not have problems with it.This vacuum clogs with just one use. It is poorly designed as are most new vacuums. In order to make the vacuum lighter and have a less powerful motor yet maintain high suction the internal tubing gets smaller and smaller which is why they clog. Clogging is not something that is tested in your otherwise thorough reviews.I would avoid this and any vacuum that can easily clog. Maybe you could review Sebo X series vacuums as they have been recommended to me by commercial dealers.

LOVE your videos! I'm looking to buy this vacuum however, being able to use the brush roll in the upright position is important to me for cleaning stairs, do you know if the brushroll will run in the locked upright position, and is it very heavy for this purpose? Thank you!

Another great performer on carpet! I'm guess its harder to push because of the mon adjustable height and extra power and better seal to the carpet. Deeper cleaning , harder to push. I really like the new revamped testing methods! Looking forward to more in this commercial series of tests.

@Stefonivich
@Stefonivich 5 лет назад
The reason the handle is heavier is because the second motor is in the body. It makes up for it with the power. The brush roller spins so hard it all most pulls it self along. You also can pick up more with less passes. As for picking up larger items, it has no trouble sucking up things like socks. if something wont go under just tip it sideways slightly and set it down on top and it will go right through.

Wow, fancy tests coming in the future. It would be interesting to cordless vacs would fare with the new, more stringent deep cleaning tests. Love my cordless, but it's hard to believe that they can deep clean as well as a good corded vacuum. Didn't one of them (Dyson?) score near 100%?

Putting the ProTeam together is a breeze about 10 minutes. Love the power and to me is not as clunky, easiest to maneuver & love the 50ft. cord! For larger items to pick up, just tilt the vacuum slightly and shazam, done deal! My opinion after having all 3. Just don't like the short hose, roller brush and belt replacement, but not a deal breaker for me!

These Proteam uprights always seemed well made and nice that they have two motors for bare floor cleaning. They are based off the Aerus designs --- but much cheaper in price! I wish they put a height adjustment like the Eon and Windsors have.
@VacuumWars
@VacuumWars 5 лет назад
totally agree!
@Stefonivich
@Stefonivich 5 лет назад
They have a floating head design to keep it at the right adjustment. Most people adjust the brush roller height incorrectly. Your brush roller should just touch the top of the carpet fiber in order to vibrate the carpet fiber and help flick debris into the shoot. It's the suction that really pulls the dirt out. If you adjust your brush roller down, you might think it will clean better but what you are really doing is pulling out and damaging your carpet fiber. It's actually a very nice feature when you are going from your carpet to a rug to bare floor which would all need a different height adjustment! The Windsor sensor vacuums do basically the same thing, just instead of a true floating head it uses a sensor to automatically adjust the roller height for you.

@Stefonivich
@Stefonivich 5 лет назад
The Oreck vacuum at first feels like it cleans well. It's light, I will give it that. The problem with it is that it hooks the motor directly to the vacuum shoot. The way that it is designed is it pulls all the dirt directly through motor. Even the smallest piece of paper can get wedged between the fins in the motor and the housing wall so the motor can't spin. You then have to completely take the vacuum and motor housing apart to clean it out. It's also very loud! I wouldn't recommend the Oreck to anyone.
@billydarley6925
@billydarley6925 5 лет назад
@@Stefonivich as i recall the floor debris went only thru the impeller housing on whatever model i had torn apart. the motor was outside that black plastic impeller housing. mine had the potential for debris getting jammed between the impeller and its housing but usually only got jammed at the intake tube. seems like the one time the jam was inside the housing was when i had to open it up. just had to be a little more aware of what i was picking up with it.

True commercial vacuums with TWO motors are designed to be used in a straight line, like you are mowing the lawn, not the see saw method you are using. When used as they are designed to be used you are using your leg muscles, not your arms. When used properly they are far less work than a single motor vacuum. Sometimes the space needs a vacuum that is more maneuverable, that's where you use the lighter single motor vacuums. In the commercial vacuum business they are called single pass vacuums, run in a straight line like a lawnmower.

Good video, but you forgot one MAJOR con: These Proteam & Aerus Electrolux commercial uprights on which they are based have a flawed bag chamber design. The dirt inside the bag piles up on top of the pre-motor filter, eventually choking it of airflow with not that much dirt in the bag. You will notice it as you clean with the vacuum, eventually it loses it's airflow & stops picking up dirt. This is a problem the Windsor & Sanitaire Eon uprights you have tested don't have, as the pre-motor filter is on it's side. Also, beware that the hose triggers a safety switch inside the vacuum, & using the hose over time without a tool on it will wear down the end to the point it needs to be replaced or it won't trigger that safety switch & the vacuum won't work properly.
@Stefonivich
@Stefonivich 5 лет назад
You should replace your vacuum back when its about 1/3 full for optimum results and vacuum longevity. As for the wand switch in normal cases it will last years! I have repaired hundreds if not thousands of these vacuums and replacing that wand switch was a rarity.

@@VacuumWars Those Carpet Pro uprights are also available in black as a Fuller Brush commercial upright, & in red as the Fuller Brush household line. One of their red household vacuums does have a brushroll shutoff switch on the powerhead itself, it's a small toggle switch you have to bend down & turn off. Besides the 3 prong cord being a 2 prong on the Fuller Brush, they are identical to the commercial units, so perhaps you could test those.

Vacuum Wars thanks for the reply bud! I own a commercial cleaning company. And I will tell you from much experience upright vacuums will never be a go to for hard floors no matter how well they may clean them! To bulky and not efficient when it comes to time. And time is money in our business! We use proteam backpacks for all our hardfloor and above floor needs, for carpets we use royal metal commercial upright “down right monsters”! Sanitairs, carpet pros which lack airflow but are light weight and have great agitation, sebo uprights which I find to be least reliable in my experience.

In my professional opinion the Hushtone doesn't hold a candle to the cleaning ability of the Proteam xp series. I repaired and sold commercial vacuums for a janitorial supply company. I have used most all of the commercial vacuums and the only one that came close to the performance of the XP vacuums was the Windsor but the price and the price of the parts makes it a no go for me. The other vacuum that is pretty good is the Tornado but it has a clunky design with a two belt/ clutch system to spin the roller (terrible design)

The place I work for has been buying these vacuums the past couple of years because they’re the cheapest vacuum. Let me tell you, you get what you pay for. It’s bulky, heavy and hard to maneuver. The wand is a little difficult to use because of the way it’s designed. The biggest design flaw in this vacuum is the way it clogs so easily. It literally goes from a widemouth hose to a skinny section back to a widemouth hose again. It’s truly designed to get clogged. You can only suck up really fine debris with it. Any little pieces of paper or anything of that nature will get stuck in the middle of the vacuum where it’s damn near impossible to unclog it without taking the vacuum completely apart. It’s a horrible commercial vacuum. The worst part is, the reliability, none of the vacuums have made it a year without needing to be repaired. Don’t buy this vacuum. Before this vacuum we used Windsor‘s and they were the absolute best
