A great American is just an American who did the right thing. Integrity does not make one great...it is the baseline of what we should expect from ourselves.

Regarding the “mass deportation” plan of the RNC, I think we have a severe lack of generational memory resources. My grandfather was a farmer, & his neighbor was Mr Miakawa, who was of Japanese heritage. I was only 6, but remember being horrified by his tales of being taken, as a child, to the WW2 concentration camps that were established in the USA. His family completely lost all of their land, their homes, & all belongings. Hw was a US citizen, interned for 3 of his childhood.

As a woman who was born when Truman was president and raised in rural West TX, there is something you all are missing. There are old Democrats, mostly men, who will hesitate or not vote at all for a woman. I saw this personally when my “yellow dog” grandfather, an elected official himself, agonized over whether or to vote for Ann Richards. He also agonized over my decision to run for school board that made me the first woman to serve in that capacity. This was a long time ago, but I hear the the same rumblings regarding Kamala. These people are old and may not live to vote, but my fear is, although they will never vote Republican, is there is a chance they might leave the box blank. I, a yellow dog myself, would love to see a woman president in my lifetime but the chances of that are getting very low. Love your podcast. Keep up the good work!
I'd like to see a woman president, too,but I don't think either party would ever vote on in. There's too many on both sides who don't take women seriously and don't think a woman can do the job. It's just the mindset.

In 2016, Hillary lost Wisconsin. Many say it was because she took the state for granted, but it was more than that. The NYTs did a follow up story about Milwaukee Dem voters the following week: if I remember correctly, turn out was down 40% from Obama in 2012. When interviewed as to why they did not vote, many Milwaukee folk (and black men) admitted they weren't down with Trump, but they also did not want a female President in our country. That article stuck in my head all these years later, and I really think having Kamala replace Joe is a bad idea. However, when he wins, and if his health declines, she can take over and run the country. It's sad to admit, but the reality of our misogynistic society is many voters don't see women as leaders. Btw, Bernie Sanders beat Hillary in the Wisconsin Democratic Primary, and Ted Cruz beat Trump in the Republican Primary of 2016.
The only time Canada has had a woman Prime Minister was when the elected man stepped down. She was not reelected. I know you want her but she'll have to inherit it and as incumbent you can hope she survives the primary in 2028.

I watched my neighbor who is a farmer have his whole extended family out picking their asparagus fields when trump was elected last time….after two wks they just had to plow the asparagus under as the family had to go to their real jobs and couldn’t keep helping out….this is because the migrants that came every yr were not allowed to come here thanks to trump.. it costs the neighbors millions of dollars in losses…..they have hundreds of acres in asparagus….that whole season was lost for the farmer…..what a shame

The difference between the two parties with regard to the conspiracies is that main stream Republicans are proposing these theories, while main stream democrats (as a whole) aren't.

I have never been a Republican but I can say during the committee hearings. I had so much respect for adam and liz. I think it took so much courage and strength for them to stand up against their own party and stand for the american people the constitution and the law.

Yup. I stand for democracy. I am living overseas. I changed my residency to a purple state after I held my nose and voted for Clinton after the bs the DNC pulled in 2016 and my vote didn’t count anyway. I’m not putting in the effort to vote again if the DNC replaced the candidate we elected. I know I’m not the only one. These people are not taking into consideration people like me AND all the folks who didn’t vote or voted third party in 2016. They will definitely lose if they remove Biden.

I agree absolutely. A lot of these ex Republicans way way way stretch the use of the word "left." First of all, the Democratic party isn't the left. When one goes to the actual left, who often aren't at all fond of the democratic party, one starts finding conspiracy theories. The Republican party is right wing, far right, and extreme right. The Democratic party includes right of center, center, liberal, left of center, progressive left, and Sanders left. Then there's the actual left, but they're largely fringe. Whereas far right and extreme right are mainstream in the Republican party. I question the intellectual integrity of anyone who is supposed to have any expertise in politics using terms such as Democrat, liberal, and left, as if they're somehow synonymous.

Talked to my Politics Professor neighbor last week, who’s a lifetime Republican voter, about putting Harris at the top of the ticket & Kinzinger as VP. I wondered if a moderate Republican & man of his integrity + Kamala could be a possible path forward…?

Uuuuum so you want to see cuts to Social Services and Medicaid? No two ways about it Liz, Mitt and Adam behaved with integrity after the Insurrection but during their time in the Senate and Congress they voted with Trump most of the time. The Republican Party that was, was very right wing. They tend not to support environmental protection. They tend to support big buisness. They tend not to support childhood education. So unless these are also your values you might just want to respect and appreciate the fact that Adam has a level below which he will not go. If you feel that you share a more Republican view of where America should go then you could vote for these people in good conscience. Take a look at Ron DeSantis' policies in Florida if you want to see what a right wing agenda looks like in action.
