imagine putting on numerous different costumes, makeup, sets, just for 240p... 2006 was an amazing time to be a kid in highschool tho... man this song/album brings back the memories!
For those who don't know, this song is part of a concept album about a girl named Kezia who is to be executed by a totalitarian rule, every song is a point of view from ppl involved such as the prison gaurd, the executioner, Kezia and this song is the view from the priest who questions his faith over the whole situation.
They called me the man with the blood of Christ honesty But tonight I drink with heathens and the finest of our blasphemies In wine there's truth but in silence there's surrender A screaming for the silence in stunned suspicious terror Built a temple in my life and used God to seal the pillars After twenty years of fighting young heretics and killers I watch my temple fall to pieces at the first signs of oncoming weather Fell to my knees just like Jesus in the cave, knew I would die But my lips could only; I am not your son, so why have you forsaken me? There's a hole in my heart but it just makes me unholy Crucified that night and walked away with alter-egos Like the prison priest who preached his dead and buried gospel While my faith is in ruins my duty breathes strong I'm a parrot in a cage saying prayers to belong to a textbook Of my crying, lying, dying history; a time so full of life that I was anything but me
Rody's got fucking pipes. This guy is one of my favourite vocalists. wide clean rage and a clear scream. it's hard to find a vocalist who does both well these days.
I definitely recommend this album (Kezia) to anyone that likes this song. The album is out of this world amazing. Their second studio album (Fortress) is great too, but it's a little more refined.
Fun fact: The actual members of Protest The Hero were busy on tour and Vagrant needed a video so they dressed some random dudes up like Flying Monkeys and they made this.
I remember seeing this video when the Kezia album came out … I was 50% scared cuz I hated the witch and those flyin monkeys when I was young and 50% into the type of sound they had.. the hardcore/metal kid in me was like fuux yeah but the young happy normal child in me wasn’t liking the memories this video brought back lololol
PTH is the best band ever, because they are so well rounded. They can do any genre like progressive metal, sceamo, hard core, math core, and dare I say it... punk.
18 years ago.. Jesus I can remember the obsession I had over this album and the love I had for this band. I was able to see them live in small little venues and also chilling under a bridge with Moe and Arif. 😂
i can tell you exactly what mathcore is... its a metal style where the time signature changes constantly. if your a musician you know what im talking about
ditto. i wasnt much into metal either but all it took was turn soonest to the sea and im hooked. im not an expert about music techniques or terms and those fancy acronyms..but one thing i do know for sure is pth has lots of difficulties in their songs and i thoroughly ENJOY them. plus theyre far from shabby-looking..ha
@@staydoogan I don't know if you're the guy who started the collapse of the comments over a decade ago or not since it's all wiped, but same to you, man. Craziest guy on RU-vid to start comment beef with me was a flat earther with 200+ hours of video on his channel looking at the horizon and preaching from his office.
Greatest Band ever. They inspired me to learn the guitar and start a band. I didn't even like music prior to PTH. What other bands are like protest the hero? (dreamtheater?)
protest the hero is one of the best bands Ive ever seen live. you people need to stop being all elitist and accept that there is a new generation out there putting there own spin on what is death\thrash metal.
5 other songs with calm acoustic parts, bass tapping, screaming, time signature changes, and slapping and popping? I dont think he will be able to :D PTH owns.
I fell to my knees like Jesus in the cave, I knew I would die But my lips could only say; Im not your son so why have you forsaken me? There's a hole in my heart but it just makes me unholy Crucified that night and I walked away with alter-egos Like the prison priest who preaches his dead and buried gospel While my faith is in ruins my duty still breathes strong
WTF did I do? You quote my comment out of context and then call me an idiot, and I get this. In order to keep this comment relevant, this is a great song by a great band.
You gotta remember though that they still are young and still like to have a good time!(: Even if that does mean they make fun of their music, doesn't mean they dont take music seriously! I think they're amazing and nothing'll change my mind about that!:P
Eric Pineda You could forgive me for seeing warped tour 07 and thinking “Scene Kid” lol I was just born then so I guess it’s great that a new generation of scene kids will be coming in 2020!
Come on people it's just his opinion. Don't hate him for that. Instead I would recommend he listens to something from 'Fortress' as that album has a wider variety of vocals used in it.
There 's a little bit of Watchtower in this song, even though the vocal lines of Protest The Hero are so much better. They're really great, one of the best bands of the moment.
