whatever nick was saying at 55 min was off the point. the point isnt "well the race of the people rioting today was white, therefore everything is about race", its that the right wing insurrection is supported by cops, and the government itself. we CANT just find common ground with lliteral terrorists, we cant just ignore minor details, when the difference is who holds power and who gets to kill the other. i get what he's trying to do, bring back the old normal when we didnt violently attack our political rivals, but this is the new normal, and there's only forward left to go. we GOTTA come to terms with how race is a dynamic in politics, how identity politics plays a role in society, and how this shit is broken to a point that an attack on the capitol building by an entirely white, mostly republican, and majority conspiracy obsessed cultists actually results in FEWER arrests, injuries and deaths; than a protest elsewhere in objection to the systemic murder of black people. saying this shit outloud makes me feel like a conspiracy chud myself, but shit is reality, more absurd than fiction.
there's less and less in common with people who think that this shit is acceptable, and we cant say we can work together with them if their goal is to eject us from their country, their government, and erase our existence in this country. 100%, the goal of republicans (who condones the actions of this riot) is to install Trump back as president as a fascist, change laws to suppress minorities again, and they see none of this as how i framed it. they think wanting to make it illegal to be publicly gay is common sense, and isnt oppression. and if we naively thing there's common ground with freedom and oppression, we loose.
and just so i make sense, the thing i think needs to happen is make the people in the gov who encouraged this take responsibility. every politician who publicly supported this needs to be removed from their position, the guy in charge of the police in DC needs to get replaced, and news reporters framing this as "american patriotism" needs liability. as a country we gotta make new rules, or at least enforce the old ones and say "THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE". i dont think it's realistic to arrest every single participant in that riot (but i know we have the technology to trace them, since we saw it happen at the BLM protests), but at the very least we need to make sure they can't be proud of what they have done.
I would love to invite you to a conversation series of people talking about how the media has influenced sooooo much of what we do. From the American dream, beauty standards, education, romance its so irritating becuase its so imbedded in our culture that until its really revealed to you uts hard to see everywhere it permeates
I realized I didn't write WHERE to join the conversation space. Here is the link: omnigi.com/ to sign up for the weekly discussions. Scroll down on the home page and select " Ourstorian Education" to register for the weekly zoom meetings. I know people are suspicious of random links on RU-vid so if you feel uncomfortable clicking the link, just type the website address into Google and it will take you to the same place. I was invited to this group last year by my mentor and have FINALLY found a space to just talk about the heart of our worlds problems and formulate solutions that we can do on a personal level. All are welcome and I hope to see you there.
Oh snap, I've been dreaming of this line up for a hot min, Alex and Pat finally guesting together. Ashame Nick wasn't there. Thank You David, you made my thursday more fun.
@@Axeldiedtimeago yea brother but unfortunately David said having all four of them together would just b chaos with them trying to talk over each other, so its most likely not happening..
Still doesn’t make sense that the capitol was so easy to get into. There was video of cops opening gates to them. Bc honestly if anyone breaking into capitol, I would think shoot on sight. Or security preventing ppl from entering certain rooms. But they were escorting them instead. Seems to orchestrated on a larger degree than just the group who raided the capital and those in office in kahoots. Much larger
I am glad you talked about this. I always get disappointed and at times frustrated regarding those taking this pandemic not seriously. Still traveling like it's normal. Not wearing a mask. =__= Then this raid or some are calling as a coup or revolution at the capitol. "Why?" is all I feel like I can ask. Why? 😪
We can’t turn a blind eye this, I understand to how the media try to divide us, we do have to acknowledge black and brown don’t always get a fair shake with Police
I smiled the entire way through. That last segment is fucking gold. Holy shit. Also, as a media major, I can say the degree of which people can be manipulated and stripped of independent thinking is very, very low. Just a simple good looking ad, and you can instantly win the thought of a person.
I got my first does of the Madernia formula on Sunday Jan . 3, 2021 I got underline medical conditions and my mom her age and underline medical conditions we got in line at 7am then at like 12:48 pm we got it at Texas A&M A&M International University at Laredo,TX. We wear lucky to get it. There many flaws to giving the vaccine everywhere.
my question is, words like hell and 666 are curses bc of religious reasons when teachers enforce their religious beliefs on students that believe a different religion or atheist, isnt it wrong. bc technically ppl dont need to do the pledge of allegiance or skip specific parts bc of their religion and schools cant force the kids to do it. Wouldnt words like hell and 666 be part of that? Just wondering.
It depends on how active your mind is for people with “monkey brain” saying clear your mind may make more sense to them vs saying “having control of your thoughts” or “streamlining your thoughts”
I felt weird when they were making fun of the woman who died. I know they not trying to offend on purpose, they just talking. But we out here making fun of a dead woman. Would we be roasting floyd or (god forbid) breonna taylor too?? Again, its not the ppl speaking in this podcast. This is my visceral immediate thought and reaction to a n (essentially) cherry picked segment of the podcast. This is also, not meant to be a personal attack on these speakers in this podcast.
The difference between the situations is one was murdered in her sleep in her house. the other was murdered while trespassing on a state building with violent people. We still shouldn't make fun of her but we must acknowledge she made some bad decisions
@@antoinettetruss1991 damn.. im guessing the "same energy" doesnt exist when it happens to people in the other camp... *made some bad decision* gets shot and killed , it's cool... damn i guess all those blm trespassers deserve to get shot. those who burned down the police dept deserves to get shot too
@@cjyoung4080 it's funny you say that because a lot of those protesters were actually getting shot. Actually a lot more of those protesters were shot then the one woman who was during this riot. I'm not saying that it's right or wrong to shoot people. Nor am I saying that the woman deserved to die. All I'm saying is she was in a tense situation that she did not have have to be in. I mean your chances of getting shot in America are already high, she should've walked away from the building and continued to protest outside. Also alot of people were actually making fun of Mr. Floyd. There was a trend of people taking pictures and videos of themselves with their knees on the necks of their friends and family members saying I can't breathe and laughing
I have more respect for David So than I do for the crew for just kidding cast not to start any feuds or tribalism bullshit, just noticed that both have comedic hearts but David isn't afraid to speak his mind. For two months, they avoided talking about the elections after Biden won, wish it wasn't him but whatever, but David never skipped a beat. And when you think about it, jk does what most media does: talk about whatever they want and avoid things they don't agree with. Its odd. If you hate what both sides are doing, then why aren't you calling out both sides? This is literally huge news and it's only been 7 days into the new year. The human race is amazing in a idiocy way.
Love to listen to you guys but hearing you speaking about 1/6 shows how effective the media is and how uninformed people can be. No offense to your intelligence, it’s massive ignorance.
Honestly it wasn't a bad protest if people would just watch whole videos of the livestream... They weren't wrestling with the guards, they were casually standing around, holding their flags, and walking around. There was a point where some crazy people tried to breach a door around the building but that was a small handful compared to the hundreds who weren't starting fires or tagging the building up or even starting up fights. The politicians talking about how it's so unruly, well this is America? America was founded on rebellion, look at most things recorded on what Thomas Jefferson said... they knew if the government fails, the people would rise, the same way the French did and the same way our forefathers did when the OG 13 colonies were established as America from Britain. Joe Biden is literally lecturing on livestream on how the protest is of the root of racism, really? All people wanted was to see that their concerns of the voting process was addressed but it was just swept under the rug, so of course people would feel betrayed, and that's why many of them showed up. Didn't see any racism... worst case was a confederate flag but I don't see any fucked up racism quotes on banners or signs like you would see at BLM or ANTIFA riots
The guys at the front of the line were wearing shirts reading, "Camp Auschwitz" and "6WME" (6 Million Weren't Enough, referring to the number of Jews killed during the Holocaust); and there were Neo-Nazi flags hung up inside of the Capitol.
