I saw them in New Orleans this past Monday. It was a REALLY a small crowd (maybe like 30 folks), which you'd think would be lame...but we were pretty fierce. When they played this song, The Gambler came out into the crowd and was pulling us all around her (she grabbed my shirt!!!) as she wailed into the mic. Eventually she had the whole crowd around her as she finished the song. Later as they finished w Due Vendetta, KILROY came out into the crowd as well (I gave him a high-five!!) Small shows can be pretty intimate and awesome like that.
SHIT they played in New Orleans? Fuck. I follow them on FB but I guess the new FB kept that from me. I saw them here in MS and the venue was packed the fuck out. It was the first time I saw them. It was a really intense fucking show. I really hate the usual PAX crowds and shit. Smaller shows always win out.
Ooooh yes...it was funny actually because I had introduced them to a friend of mine literally just a week before the show. On a lark, I decided to see when their next show here was gonna be, and saw that it was that week after. It was too perfect.
honestly one of the very few bands that are capable of bringing tears with almost every song. if your able to say a statement like that, it proves that the music has passion and power
Before you know it, it'll have been 3 years since this happened... I hope when it actually comes out, this song is pretty much exactly the same. I love it.
GUYS!!!!! THE GODS OF ROCK HAVE BLESSED US WITH ANOTHER ACT 3 SONG... AT 3AM.. ITS AMAZING ITS CALLED THE FIGHT... ITS GREAT. I THINK ... SALVATION IS IS UPON US!!!!!
Well, from what I've heard from Act 3, and how Act 2 ended with Keep Quiet, Lights, and The Fall, this thing is going to be hard, heavy, and yes, the greatest word of our generation: EPIC!
I love this! The Gambler has such great pipes, music is awesome love the drums at the end, and when Panther joins in with the vocals = chefs kiss for the ears. Freaking Protomen, you can't pick just one favorite track, but this one is up at the top there for me, the ending with both of them is so damn great
Love Protomen! As writers and musicians they're great, as shown with this song, they did so awesome at adding a sense of worry to help set the mood and delivery and everything. Can't wait for act 3
The plot behind this band could be about anything, fucking building sandcastles or playing cards, and I'd still listen to it so long as it came to me in those voices~
A slightly off vocal performance cannot offset my insane levels of excitement for Act III. Also, the drums are FAR more interesting than past efforts. This is awesome.
Aww Roll takes after Emily. "If the sun never shows its face again, there will be light." Glad to hear the good doctor's still got a woman to talk some sense into him.
The Gambler has been in the band for a while now. While I am not 100% certain she was on Act I, she has been a featured vocalist on Act II (Emily) and A Night of Queen.
This has to be a conversation between Light and Roll. Roll - Says something about how the crisis happened either when she was young, or she'd learned about it when she was young. Light - "But all of your heroes are gone. And the blood that they spilled is on my hands. The darkness will block out the sun. -Dunno what's here- that a hero couldn't do. Both - "Someone will have to bring back the dead." THE RETURN OF PROTOMAN. HE WILL FIGHT MEGAMAN. THIS IS WHERE THEY WILL BECOME ALLIES.
Is it just me, or do the Protomen always have amazing male vocalists, but the world's most temperamental female vocalists? Both female vocalists (the one playing Light's wife in Act 2 and the one in this video) seem to swing wildly from excellent to cringeworth. Have to say though, I am liking this one. Maybe it's just the parts I don't like sound off because it's a live show. If so, I can't wait to hear the final studio version.
Both are performed by The Gambler, Emily and this Act III Girl. I'm pretty sure The Gambler was shooting to make Emily sound more vulnerable and frail, while she was trying to make Act III Girl sound powerful and strong. So that's why they sound different.
Gambler was indeed on the Act I recording--her voice is distinct enough to be picked up on, plus her non-robot name is listed under "special thanks" in the Act I booklet. She toured on and off with the Protos until about the Act 2 release show, and since then has been a permanent member.
Everybody, it is easy to hear that it isn't mixed! (or at least not the vocals). Even live recordings have to be mixed to sound good, and this dosn't sound mixed
I think it IS Roll and Rock, because one of the lyrics after they sing hold back the night sounds like "No one else to bring back the Light" Light has never referred to himself as THE Light, only Rock and Emily have used Lights name as both the name Light but also as the Light of the city, which that lyric sounds like it is making a reference to.
Thomas singing to the crowd after Megaman has been disillusioned by the Protoman affair. After a few songs Mega comes back and wrecks things. Placing bets now.
Roll is, in the original mythos, just a robot. If you want the serial numbers, Blues/Proto Man/ Break Man is DLN000, Rock/Mega Man is DLN001, and Roll is DLN002.
Not likely. Turbo Lover, who provides the voice for Wily, was there but did not sing for this song. Some have speculated it is Light. Can't wait to find out for sure!
(SPOILERS!!) That makes sense for Act II. But for Act III, unless its a pre-prequel or unless Emily comes back from the dead, I can't see her being Emily. Who knows, it could be another female character altogether! Why do Protomen have to be so deep with their storyline!? I LOVE IT!
I could be wrong. The voice doesn't sound like the one used for Dr. Light. So it could be Roll trying to convince Mega Man to return and find Dr. Light since it was never said what happened to him at the end of Act 1. One of the fan theories is that he meets Roll and a her dog(Rush) and she tries to convince Mega Man to return. I agree, I can't wait to see what Act 3 holds.
from what i can understand, it sounds like the chick is waiting, hoping for a hero to defeat wily, while dr light know that there are no more heroes and instead wants the people to fight for themselves, without hiding behind a hero
Actually, I've been in a dance circle with Gambler, when they were touring with M.A.V.S., and she can dance really well. I just think she was tired by that point in the show.
