Few people know it, but the military brother of the 'Proton' rocket, the 'Zenit' rocket (and its launching complex), was designed in such a way as to carry out the preparation for the launch and the launch itself in a fully automatic mode: the delivery of the rocket to a start position, its rise, the connection of all communications/fueling systems, the preparation of launch of the rocket and its launch - everything is in automatic mode, without the presence of people at the launch complex at all! A robot with the size of several square kilometers in area! Such a System was supposed to launch missiles with military satellites every 2-3 hours! But, the Soviet Union collapsed, and the system was never brought to a full working version... The 'Soyuz' rocket is the best in the terms of reliability and simplicity...

I cant argue that they were the first to a few things during the space race era. but this is just wrong. 30 years ahead or any country? The Russian space industry is on life support. Russia only had 20 orbital launches in the year 2023, while just ONE US company had more launches than that 3 months into the same year. Not to mention Russia cant land and reuse any of their rockets... and they have been using the same designs since the cold war. Yes the Soyuz is a reliable rocket, but so is the falcon 9 which can launch faster and more often, carry more to obit, and land and be refurbished for use again.

The Angara-A5 will be the most powerful Russian rocket, but it is not passed the full cycle of launching tests so far, therefore, de-facto, Proton-M is the most powerful Russian rocket which has the real work and payload.

In the traditions of Russia, do not promote yourself as Musk does, for example. The Ангара will be prepared and presented as a finished project. Boasting is not our tradition.

The rocket of the Soyuz series was created in the Soviet Union and kept on the launch pad due to steel trusses and the will of the Soviet authorities. As history has shown, the will of the Soviet government was not very strong. Therefore, now Russia uses Proton missiles, which are kept on the launch pad solely by the will of Vladimir Putin, which is much stronger than the Soviet regime and does not require additional holding structures. The rocket is simply ordered not to fall!
