@@youmashub I started improvising this by going into Hammer Fist and holding the dive attack button before quickly tapping the change form button so it will look like I'm coming down with just my bare fist
Well if u focus on podcasts u'll hear that black watch said that masks can prevent the virus, also u'll see the doctors giving them away at some road checkpoint
The one thing I like about Prototype 1 compared to 2 is that when bringing a weapon out, depending on the Power you use there's a unique animation for each when holding the equip button which was absent in Prototype 2
Prototype 2 is an objectively worse game in every way. I'm replaying it now cause I only got 2 trophies for the platinum (game on hard and fully upgrading Heller) and wow it's bad. It's got fewer animations, a smaller more split up world, worse designs (imo), its waaaaay slower and Heller is jus a dick to everyone, even the people that are tryna help him out. Seriously the game doesnt even do the memory thing to even try and justify "Nahhh he was a bad guy and deserves this" The OG still holds up on PS5. Graphics are dated as hell but the gameplay is sublime
I’m always going to hold onto that small glimmer of hope that one day the franchise gets a reboot or a third sequel. But being realistic, this game will stay as a forgotten gem.
At the end of the game. Both are extremely fun and badass games to play even to this day. It's a damn shame it stayed last last gen and never gotten a sequel. Hope we get a next gen Prototype game.
@@wisgarus it won’t be though. Activision has the rights to it, and they won’t even make it unless they can find some way to jame multiplayer and loot boxes in it. I hate what games are today, games shouldn’t have to be celebrated just for having offline single player and no loot boxes. But here we are...
Both tentacle devastators are good in their own respect. The first one has many more tentacles erupting from Alex whereas the second one starts with a ground stomp and literal biomass explosion. I feel in some alternate universe, the third prototype would have combined both devastators.
there is a theory that Mercer let Heller win and let himself be absorbed to slowly "take over" Heller and assimilate his powers from within... to create even stronger version than both parts combined
@@kamirostorino9416 well make not take over I think more like “his DNA is stronger than mine if I let him consume her will become the apex of we can be”
@@BiggieSmokes187 if you wanna play as Alex Mercer in pt2 then get gold in all challenges also once you’ve completed the game and collected all collectibles you will be more powerful than in the first game with more abilities and weapons also jumping higher and running faster. James heller is very powerful so it’s very easy to complete 100% of the game your near unstoppable if you know how to play and if you add on the cheats in the game you’re even more powerful with eye lazer beams that one hit everything
@@ogundimu400 dude the real alex mercer died even before the events of prototype, alex mercer was the first person the virus consumed, we were playing as the virus all along, this is the reason why he didnt remember anything, the virus just preferred to stay in alex's form
@@kik7893 Personally, I like to think he wanted to be killed, because otherwise, they just wrote the best character this game ever had out, and I won't accept that reality lol
Alex can basically boost across the sky up to 4 times if you use him correctly. The first and second is air dash, third is the kick dash and fourth is when he fucking launch himself across the air like sonic the hedgehog.
Well in Prototype 2 you have 3 normal dashes, the grab dash (when you press the grab button while flying), and the claw dash (when you hold the attack button while using claws). That's 5 dashes. And you can glide further too when you unlock the upgrade for it.
Mercer got insanely mutated within 18 days whereas it took Heller 2 months. Compare the devastation of both their sets ya can tell it supports even more so that Alex let Heller absorb him
If you think about it, James is evolving way faster. Alex was surrounded by infected trying to fend them off in those 18 days. When James starts messing with the infected, he becomes bullet proof, he doesn't even need armor, and he literally controls the infected. I think its pretty clear that James would destroy Alex.
@@MrNiceGuyPh if you compare the games side by side, James runs faster. Its just that Alex is for attacking while running while James stops to do a devastating attack.
Both Prototype games are hella fun, but I probably prefer Prototype 1. I like the graphics in 2, but the artstyle in 1 is much more realistic and modern, and Prototype 1 actually has way more combos and skills than 2, and probably more open world content; I remember you could destroy Blackwatch bases by either bombing them or infiltrating them inside, and you could also destroy virus hives. The world felt alive because here was something going on always, like helicopter patrols, tanks inspecting areas, checkouts guarded by soldiers, skirmishes going on and full on battles in red zones. What I like more about 2 is probably the monster design, the music and the new special skills like the bio-bomb and pack callout.
@@GamingIntelCoreM-y not even close. P1 has way better fighting, cool combos, something that was missing in P2. Honestly if they would have kept all the same combos/upgrades from P1 into P2 then it would be better just because of how smoother the gameplay was compared to 1.
Damn, this game was probably a decade ago. Always had the most fun with the tendrils just making all those carnage/venom like look to the city. Hope we'll someday see Prototype 3.
Really love Mercer's power as he already been like this almost 2 years in the game but cant deny that James have enhance DNA which makes the perfect strain evolution of the virus, making him learn and evolved faster than Mercer with just months P1 for the legend game and P2 for improvement game of P1
@@eizlaniskandar7946 there's a cool theory that mercer just got tired and wanted a successor. This whole "new world" bullshit was just a motivation for Heller to get stronger more quickly so he can consume Alex and be the ultimate badass. After the comics Alex realized how selfish and worthless humans are but saw Heller as an exemption as his only driving force was only his daughter.
Personally, I have always liked the original better. Neither of them are spectacular exactly, but the first one seemed to be more cohesive and better put together story-wise, and frankly it's just more fun and it makes a lot more sense to be a massive dick in that one, which is at least 60% of what makes those games hella fun. Also, bonus, you get to see what happens when the writers decide to change a main character's love interest into their sibling instead. Or at least that's what I've always assumed happened at some point during the writing process, because damn.
@@zerosorigin8387 Some would definitely argue against on that but I am not one of those people. I personally prefer P1’s story and protagonist much better than P2’s, however, Guerra is a definite upgrade to Ragland.
Both are absolute gems. I liked 2 slightly better due to the atmosphere and how wrecked everything was. Heller also had some good quips and had a heart underneath all that “now the screens all fucked up, shits broken!”
Lmaoo that part had me dead. Cause you know heller one on of those dads who don't know how to use tech and when something simple messes up they assume the shit broken lol
IMO, I think with the powers, Prototype 1. With the graphics Prototype 2. Storywise I like both. Final villain, I really loved Mercer as a villain in part 2.
I agree cause prototype 1 has so much more to offer compare to prototype 2 like when you finish the game in prototype 1 you can still destroy hives or infiltrate bases meanwhile in prototype 2 once you finished the game(including side missions) theres nothing left to do except killing a few civillians and shits so yeah prototype 1 is better when it comes to content.
@@kairakxz Ya know this sounds like your being biased...the story in prototype 2 is better the graphics are better and in some ways you feel more powerful in the 2nd one epically using brawler pack ability. Saying prototype 1 is better than 2 in so many ways is the equivalent to saying the 2nd game didn't really make any improvements and that isn't at all true
3:41 After Heller's roar, those hunter coming out from nowhere in slow motion dramatically, then everything went silent... except that table landing upside down in front of him. For some reason I laughed hard at the last part.
I’ve always had a theory about the two different powers James and Alex have. Alex is flexible and more agile and with his powers in prototype 1. Heller is a brute with a different kind of arsenal mercer doesn’t have. Prototype 2 had characters with unique abilities that made them the way they are. The whip fist, the blade, and etc. This game was so old yet so good that it seriously made me theorized why mercer can hold a jump no problem while heller can just fucking go all out. Just my opinion but hey I still love this game after the end of it’s development.
@@CourtesyofBeyonder alex was tge protagonist of part 1 and was a good likeable chracter unfortunately they fucked the story up in the 2nd part and made mercer the villan
@@rahulsahoo9258 Read the comics, Alex was searching of why he had to save Manhattan from a nuke 10x bigger than the Hiroshima Bomb. All he saw was fucked up stuff, and the only one he loved betrayed him, therefore making him evil.
Actually it’s the other way around. Prototype makes you feel like a demigod meaning you had to be smart on your tactics whereas Prototype 2 made you feel like a god where you can destroy everything in your path.
@@TheDarkMaster312 That's pretty random and takes too long to get all of them but if we're talking about the main story of Prototype 1 then it can be summarized in 1 sentence
Prototype 1 and Prototype 2 got a lot in common with Left 4 Dead 1 & Left 4 Dead 2. They both have 2 game released but never the third sequel. It got the same vibe.
They did Mercer so goddamn dirty man. I like Heller, but if Mercer was actually trying, he would have wiped the floor with him. For Prototype 3, they need to being back Mercer as the protagonist, don't know how they should do it, but they have to.
You mean Blacklight, that's what he discovered in 1 and that he's not the real Mercer, he had reasons why he turned to the dark side and if you're expecting the virus to come back as a hero, you're expecting the impossible.
Honestly, I would’ve preferred Mercer finding Pariah instead of the studio creating Heller. Would’ve made sense considering Pariah is the most dangerous WMD of this series.
I would’ve preferred Heller as an antagonistic Hero instead. Like you can play both as Mercer and Heller in one game. Pariah being hidden in Blackwatch as a trump card in case the Super Soldier program fails and another city becomes like New York. Or actually play from Mercer, Heller and Pariah’s perspectives.
God damn these Games are the greatest super hero games alongside inFAMOUS, take a look at 3:04 for example, absolute badassery, Prototype 2 being my fave in all aspects due to the new upgrades enemy types and character design that make em look extra detailed and monstrous, then again id still play prototype 1 due to the challenge it has on missions like the final boss battle
@@poetryismyting8854 yeah is cool tho you have the actual choise to be a hero or a villain in inFamous for example while prototype is more on the anti-hero side, toping it with the over the top action packed power trip gameplay
I just noticed how muffled Prototype's sound design is.. Like here 0:40 it goes from mellow to massive to low again.. it feels the people and monsters are fighting far away after he lands.. Truly gives an eeri vibe
I came up with an idea for a third game a long time ago and it goes as follows: Mercer wanted to be consumed so that he could (try to) take over Heller's body. The third game could be about the struggle between Heller assuming complete control, finally ridding his body of the Mercer personality, and purging all traces of the virus, including himself; there would be another scenario where Mercer manages to take over instead and continues his schemes. It would be up to the player and how they choose to proceed through the game. Both would seek out PARIAH for their own reasons, tying up loose ends as a result: Heller hunts down and destroys PARIAH before destroying himself (making sure that the virus is gone for good), whereas Mercer consumes PARIAH and becomes more powerful in doing so. And then there would be a third way to end the game, perhaps in a second playthrough: PARIAH ends up defeating and consuming Heller/Mercer and becomes even worse, and the world is straight up doomed.
Completely unrelated to this but in prototype 2, if you grab any soldier or a doctor they will have voicelines like "we can help you, dont do this" "dont do this!" And they will beg you not to kill them and say that they'll help you Unfortunately you cant spare any of them i think cause the only way to drop them is by throwing Edit: wait im sure everyonewho played knows this already- oh well, its just a neat detail.
Still wondering how Alex lost to Heller, despite being the original one which has the full potential and power. Yet losing to someone who was just infected. Someone explain
Because Alex got cocky with James in their fight, wasted his power by spreading the virus, not consuming any of his infected monsters or evolved, and having a twisted idea for world peace instead of world war where it would benefit him more than peace in his vision.
Just got both and halfway done with the 2nd,i like heller's tendril devastator design more but prefer alex's,not only did he produce more but i liked seeing the tendrils legit seek out the enemies and pierce their torso's
Prototype 2 was arguably better, but the upgrade paths broke that game and even the higher difficulties didn’t alleviate the issues. You also have the lack of interesting bonus missions and the story feeling less interesting in general. I remember sinking hundreds of hours into Prototype, but dropped Prototype 2 after beating it two times.
Combat wise? Yes, if you ignore a lot of upgrades. The combo attacks are a great idea but having the ability to dodge or block with a QTE gets real stale. Nothing becomes a threat. Helicopter? Finisher Move. Tank? Finisher move. Infected enemy? Use combo abilities and watch the HP vanish. On my first playthrough, the only difficult boss was trying to not hit the Goliath for the bonus mission. I did a minimal upgrade/level run on the hardest difficulty. I died to Mercer a few times, because either Alex glitched and stopped taking damage or the game is hard-coded that you have to be a certain level to hurt him. Prototype 1 was limited, I won't deny that. I enjoyed taking down bosses and larger enemies in it on Intense Difficulty than PT2 and I tried to make Intense harder.
Both are good overall I feel like Prototype 2 is better the only thing I wish they had in the sequel is heller should move as fast as Mercer did in the first game, and also I wish it was more tendrils in hellers devastator. And I wish they included the Graveyard spike devastator.
@@-ayoshattah-ilya14ans70 just doesn’t feel faster. You feel a lot faster in p1 idk why maybe its bc we get an option to use the armor and move slower. Being able to switch between a clunky tank w armor and a nimble GOD w heller always made me feel like i was going a million mph
Tbf Blacklight took over so stamina and human limitations didnt become an issue, has to have enhanced muscles, bones and organs to move so fast and nimble.
Always Activision ruining game series by laying people off because they didn’t sell like cod did. Even though the past couple cods have been mediocre at best. Prototype 2 was the most sold game when it was released… and they laid off the team saying it didn’t do well enough… it’s like they only do cod now, dissolving all other co-companies they have absorbed.
i hope that in the 3rd installment you get to play 4 characters (alex, james, greene, paraiah "greene's son also labelled as the black lights perfect form by dr. McMullen") by choice and you will be able to choose your own path and order of the story (not a fixed sequential character switching within/throughout missions just like gta 5) depending on the paths of the story line that you take the final boss could be different in each gameplay run(kinda like infamous good and bad karma choices but it impacts the storyline much more) james heller with the help of some trust worthy blackwatch personnel (possibly dana mercer as well) after being experimented will become the first person to embody the white light antivirus (basically he becomes similar anti venom in the spiderman series) his appearance changes from black and red to white with some black outlines on edges keeping the bright red glow aura, his attacks are now more fatal to infected especially evolved and he will also becomes the closest thing to the cure to the virus elizabeth greene regains her powers to emit mass infection fogs and she also gets her own share of the hive mind once more (which was hers to begin with) being able to control and nurture the infected again, her main objective is to control every being on earth connecting them all to the hive mind her appearance is dark red and black outlines with a light green glow aura, and lets not forget about those enemy chasing orbs that she spawns alex mercer after him and green emerging from heller's body is now in his second amnesia and free of elizabeth greene's corruption, he returns to his original blacklight appearance, black with light orange outlines and blood red aura, this alex mercer is different, there are no hints of memory flashbacks no humane logic or values left, this is the alex mercer that is the modified/rogue blacklight virus embodiment where in the virus takes full control of his actions (the closest to the perfect form of the virus- dr McMullen) this alex acts more instinctively rather than objectively, he can be both enemy or friend to all creatures infected or non, his logic is simple, as long as he sees you as a threat you will be on his death list, this mercers main goal is to reach its perfect form, and to be the most superior being in existence basically an unrivaled god paraiah after telepathically feeling the mass activity of the virus he was somehow disturbed and awakened by it forcing his way out of black watch maximum containment facility and discovering the outside world for the first time after 30 plus years, paraiah's appearance is black with red outline with a gold aura, since paraiah is the perfect form of the virus the way he thinks is similar to mercer but with human logic since he is born both human and virus, paraiah observes and explored the outside world and sees how unfair it is seeing some beings dominant to others, paraiah's main goal is to make every single being similar so everyone would be equal and to do that the only way is to infect and transform every single being, regulate everything, and control everything at will when needed, and the outliers wishing to dominate others and break the equality will be eliminated, basically paraiah wants to be a god in his fair world a few more notes to gameplay: all boss battles should be commenced on open world encounters (similar to monster hunter world) unlike in the previous games wherein some boss battles limit the battlefield there will be a normal ending wherein you take bosses one by one and execute them and an enhanced boss at the very end which you also get to execute there will also be an ultimate ending wherein you beat bosses one by one in the storyline but you do not have the option to execute them causing them to flee, the ending would be a four way rumble with you against three other bosses each with their own enhanced forms and their/your reinforcements giving you the chance to take them all out at once (you can call reinforcements optionally when they are ready) there will also be an endless battle mode wherein there is no way whatsoever to eliminate bosses, pretty much similar to the ultimate ending but it does not give you the option to execute the bosses thus giving them the chance to flee and recover though the story progress will still be 100% complete, cool features about this ending is you will be able to encounter these bosses in free roam sometimes they're just causing havoc, sometimes they hunt you down or ambush you, sometimes they come across another boss and battle each other, it could be one, two, or all three of them situationally, could be on different areas or one specific area and also all the things mentioned above you can do it to them as well especially hunt/ambush all characters have their enhanced form and monstrous forms (kinda like Elizabeth Greene's worm form but less freakish more refined) kinda humanoid beast like giving them enhanced strength, mobility, and flight as well paraiah: aviary features like a phoenix mixed with an angel mercer: reptilian features like a winged dragon human mixed with a devil greene: plant like features like poison ivy in dc comics but a lil fleshy and freaky heller: insect-like features mixed with some arachnid features as well an additional feature wherein if you finished the game in endless battle mode you will have the option to create your own character which is paraiah's first born with a blackwatch's white light development staff researcher, the story will revolve following the events of endless battle mode and your main goal is to beat all 4 bosses one by one or all at once and of course endless battle as well
I finally found my childhood game it was very amazing and got me confused most of time the favorite thing I do in this game is drag people with my sharp arm knife and kick em in outer space
Oh the nostalgia. I've played prototype 2 in a computer shop. So that's the name of the game. I was randomly clicking icons when I played this game lol
Something to remember and note is the background. Heller was a soldier and it can be seen in his weapons. The claws start as serrated combat knifes and become more like blades as they evolve, while his sword starts as a blade and evolves into something resembling a machete. Alex was a surgeon/scientists and it shows on both claws and blade. A detail with the claws is he actually retracts the others while extending one, leaving a clean cut. This can be seen on a upgrade. As for the blade, we can see that it resembles a scalpel. Not to mention the behaviour on attacks. Heller goes for destruction and brute force (finishers with claws ripping instead of slicing and tearing with the tentacles) while Mercer would go most of the time for a quick death (Using the back of the blade to quickly stab the head when consuming, using the whip to smash them onto the ground, punching a hole through the torso, smashing the head, spliting in two with claws, slicing in half vertically with the blade, on stealth going for the neck, etc)
I actually like the original game then the sequel. they took a lot of things from the original game that made it so good and took it all out

I wish so much for a sequel prototype, this was one of the most fun open world games ive ever played!!! Theres something about being a monster and killing everything around that just makes me happy
