@Soumyajit : hi, you may be right... although basic F-404 had pretty much the same thrust as M88. Later 404 versions for Malaysia, Switzerland more powerful ok. M88 had to be chosen because of French origin and not depend on the US.

@Soumyajit : plus both engines were paired for tests, before going to two M88 configuration. So they had to have the same thrust...

@@michelt.8753 GE F404 usually makes around 78kn thrust while the GE F404 IN 20 has 85 kn thrust so M 88 is kinda fading away. Also F 35 alone with single engine can produce up to 191 kn whole two M 88 can't even produce over 175kn thrust combined

@Soimyajit : Hello, I leave you here, no use, you don't know anything of aeronautics and you're speaking. F-35 is another concept, single-engined, another design built for stealth, lacking fuel, not even close to Rafale in terms of maneuverability. You just take figures and you oppose them. Useless. A fighter jet is a weapons system, not just engines. M88 is designed to remain small ! To be light, narrowbody. All engines of this size are 7,5 t class. Rafale could have been bigger as well, it stayed small. There is a reason. Otherwise M53s would have been chosen. This affects the while design ! Learn please about area rule, wing loading etc.... then educated people will sacrifice two minutes to answer you !
