Thank you for this review. This was a good decade ago. I don't do music anymore I'm afraid, enjoyed no support and now my focus is elsewhere. Fouthwrite is also kind of a play on words because this was his 4th album (The book of proverb, Manuscript, write of passage, fouthwrite and red tape) He is a double entendre specialist, a master lyricist and one of my all-time favorite artists. I salute you brothers for showing him some love. Just for interest sake, he has a track called "Sex, drugs and alcohol" on his 1st album featuring Tumi, who now goes by the name of Stogie T. Thanks for doing this. Although he doesn't rap anymore, he was one of our earlier lyricists. Sadly he peaked when hip-hop was not the main genre.

The opening line of the first verse "i write what I like" is genius and sets the backdrop for the whole verse because it references Steve Biko's book title. Proverb is a godfather of rap in South Africa. Big bro doesn't get the respect he fully deserves at home.

I'm always lost in the beautiful word play when I hear this, but y'all actually made me listen do the song and I can totally agree with that "after-school special" notion. As far as my knowledge serves though, Proverb has never been, as he mentioned, for the mainstream or about the hype so this particular piece I belive was in no way meant for mad radio play and he knew that because the majority of his art is for real heads that are gonna digest the content to the very last full stop, lol - much like y'all. Now this is some rap I can get into! I grew up in the 90’s and I’m more into rock and metal, but I remember a lot of rap/hip-hop in the 90’s and early 2000’s that was straight fire-even the mainstream shit. I appreciate creativity, innovation, and authenticity in all music, qualities that IMO have been severely lacking in rap for a while.. But maybe I haven’t been looking enough into the indie, underground, and non-American scenes!
