1:58 is broad street. Place is jumping on a Saturday night in the summer. The Spanish truck posts up and serves the best chicken or pork and rice. My cousin and used to go there a lot. Kinda wild that you're there.
I used to live in MA, same thing there too, these multi unit houses are very common in New England unlike the west and the south where Apartments are king.
Not exactly. My house was a one family. Three stories but only one family in the house. Most of them are conversions. Easy way to come up if you're a landlord.
@@mookdatruth1996 I hear you man,, the plan is to get as many people out this shit...shidd I did and not looking back... Small City outside Detroit called Inkster ,; real war zone.. Where I'm from .. Stay safe!
In most other northern cities, neighborhoods like the ones in providence/pawtucket would have been absolute shit holes by now. I think the reason it's still decent is that there was never an accelerated industrial growth followed by a massive decline. More like slow steady growth over hundreds of years. There also seems to be various industries so the city isnt dependant on one thing like say mostly car plants or mostly steel mills etc.like in some declining cities. Combine that with lack of room for expansion and you see a lot of the older houses(mostly 1700s) being kept up and renovated because of necessity and historical society pressure. My mom used to live in pawtucket and you could walk around a 300yo neighborhood at 2am without much concern. It was hard to believe in a way.
I'm from Los Angeles and I don't know much about rhode island but I've seen videos and heard stories from East coast friends that shit can get real out there. Much love from Pacoima Cali.
I'm from Pawtucket & lived in CF on Fuller then Lonsdale near Lincoln! but im originally from Pawtucket- graduated Tolman!!! Now I live in Mass- in a condo!!!
Peep believe me you this video doesn't show much ..you have to live in Prov to know..this was probably an early morning drive...peep it in the summertime..that was South Side..go to West end East side..go to the projects..I was born in Providence RI in 77 grew up there..the streets ain't no joke...I haven't been back in almost 10yrs..I had tears in my eyes watching this..damn the shit I got into in dem streets!! Memories hit hard on this vid
@@JohnnyPork82 maybe it is now not sure havent been back in years..but growing up in the 90's there was certain spots that had some issues around Jenkins st Park and that area...but I rather Providence be a place where children can grow up and be anything besides a street kid..I grew up in the West end and in the 80' and 90's drugs and gangs was just how it was and i was involved in all that..did 5yrs in the A.C.I at 19yrs old went back here and there after for minor shit..grew up started having kids and changed my life style...but even in my younger years we had a program called Peace Makers that ran out of the YMCA we would try getting local gangs and just cats that had lil turf wars to play football games to stop the violence..Prov ain't like all the bigger states like NY GA or LA but shit got poppin at times..I should know I was doin some dumb shit back in my day..gang unit at that time was ran by Officer Paterson and Officer Wheeler they stayed on me and the homies ass..idk how it is these days but I hope all stays safe in the 401
Soon as I saw Providence, RI, I had to click on this video. I know it’s hoods everywhere but I haven’t never heard about a hood up there! Thanks for the view!
These old beautiful homes are filled with hardwood floors and carved stairways. Huge bedrooms and solids cabinets in the kitchen. Thousands of hardworking legal immigrants lived here and made American roots for their families. Even now rough stones become diamonds. This is much more than just a "hood".
Clout _boi223 dog you don’t even live here mad shit happens and channel 12 doesn’t even know the statistics is mad fake and you don’t see what happens round here people die everyday here in providence by violence nobody notices
Thanks , King Charlie Boo, for showing all the states I haven't been to, It's all the same , with all these programs in place. Keep up the good work and continue your mission, looking forward to listening to you speak! Happy Winter Solstice 2019
Tired of people saying this isn't hood blah blah listen Providence has plenty of dangerous and ghetto places just like Connecticut and Massachusetts hell even New Hampshire Maine has shitty places too there is plenty of messed up shit going around here you guys act like new england is full of private schools and mansions we have plenty of poor people too that work hard and struggle plenty of ignorant gangs and homelessness shit isn't sweet around here
Just found your channel on my home feed and I’m from providence Rhode Island but currently live in Pawtucket Rhode Island. I love it here but not so much the hood but Roger Williams park and zoo is world renowned!
Love, love the HOODS idea! Was born on Manton Ave., love the wood tenements. Miss that feeling of the hood. Please, please make more vids! This was just like being back there..... you did a super job of giving us all a great ride !
Lol was shocked to turn on RU-vid and see you were in my city, specially the area you were driving in.. is where I grew up, I’m in the Washington park area now.. that’s the opposite end, you were at! But great video to say the least!! 👍🏾 you should come back in the summertime, and do a night cruse down broad st & federal hill.. shit be lit!!! Thanks bo!! 🙌🏽
I lived a block away from chad brown. inside chad brown is like lord of the flies. Groups of kids running around with 30 year old losers and competing music blasting. Everyone knows someone who's been jumped there. It's their fault though like running into traffic and being shocked that you got hit by a car
We finally made it 401.... it’s not Providence Hoods this is only the South Side of Providence. East side is under Gentrification,North End and West End he didn’t show.
I was born on Potters Ave and it "used to be" a decent place to live. People who moved in don't own the property, so they have no problem destroying everything around them. Years ago people came to the U.S. and worked and raised their families. Now all you have to do is bang out a bunch of kids, have a boyfriend who works under the table and the taxpayers have to provide you with an EBT card, food stamps, free cellphones, free health care, free breakfasts and lunches for your kids in addition to food stamps, free, college tuition, free daycare on and on and on. They come here for the so called American Dream and made it our American Nightmare. You can't even walk down the street without the fear of being shot. Just like Detroit, eventually all of these houses will be crack houses. Decent people have to move to get away from them, but eventually there will be no place to go. Diversity at it's finest.
been through providence. The djfference between somewhere like college park and the "hoods" is the hoods have more latino stores, mold on the homes, and minorities. in terms of activity. Its damn near quite and dead outside at night. living in a place like Los Angeles, Providence was nice.
Loved spending time in this city. I never felt unsafe walking around east providence. Even the projects look nice. You have to look for trouble in this city. Good people up there.
CanAm Massey MD. East Providence is a safe place. Mostly middle class live there, don’t recall any thing bad about that area. But South Providence where he’s driving through? Depends where you’re at. Summertime is the most troublesome when everyone’s outside. There’s always been a gang problem here for decades. People think, “ Rhode Island, hood? Haha!” But stroll through South side, Chad Brown, Manton Ave, Hartfort Projects, etc. and they’d maybe be surprised. Not proud to say all that, just facts unfortunately.
@@Pilot_RJ_MacReady Thank you for letting them know. Especially Broad Street and Hartford. Chad calmed down a lot, but shit still getting hot over there.
@@Pilot_RJ_MacReady I can tell that the south aint really dangerous with a few homeless and bout it dudes out. Providence's crime aint nothin compared to other cities. I've looked up its worst areas, come to find out, it'd be labeled as a "good neighborhood" where im from. I would love to go there and see but what im seeing about Providence, its a paradise.
Yo Charlie you should definitely come back around this way in the summer! Stop in Dorchester, Brockton, Springfield,Lynn,Lawrence Holyoke, Worcester and New Bedford.. The next time your in MASS!
I enjoy these videos, where I can cruise places I wouldn't be caught dead in! When I was born in the mid-1950s, I lived on Ontario St, right in the heart of this area. Only it wasn't "The Hood" then. Also, was this filmed in 720 or 1080? It looked like 720 because the street signs were a little fuzzy.
90% of Providence is disgusting and dirty. It's winter in this video you can't see all of the scum. The only decent areas of Providence are tiny, Elmhurst and the East Side.
It's weird I recognized the every street -_-) despite living the next town over. Man I can't wait till covid is over so I can ride my bike to my friend's house in Providence again.
Was much nicer in the mid-late 90s, Buddy Cianci cleaned the place up nice, we had the original X Games events held here and later on the Gravity Games.. New mall, lota of other things like the water fires but the city has gotten kind of raggedy again.. Not as bad as it was but not as nice as it was in its hay day of the late 90s early 00s
wow...wish streets were announced...recognized Reservoir Ave. immediately, (in the first 20 seconds) i grew up in that neighborhood, and lots of other places seemed familiar too, but i haven't been in Providence for 50 years
If it's a city, it's got a hood. Even Newport, RI has a hood. But If you want to find real hoods, you have to leave the USA. American hoods are palaces compared to other countries.
I used to get off the bus stop next to the first gas station he passed by everyday after school. Feels weird to see such a familiar place on YT. I lowkey miss it but dont
Kinda interesting that providence poverty rate is pretty high compared to most cities in USA but it doesn’t look super run down compared to even other cities that have lower poverty rates.
I watch a lot of Charliebo video and I don’t understand these comments- most his videos the areas aren’t that run down compared to this. Yeah he has some places with more borded up buildings but it’s also because those are more rural areas- not the city where people are gonna fill up those houses like here
i'm not upset i really don't care but honestly riding at least past chad brown and further down broad st toward the highway would've been more accurate if the hood , this just goes by countless tenement houses,,,, i'm not sure the you tube video maker actually knows what the word hood means lmao
HEY I HAVEN'T WATCHED YOUR VIDS IN AWHILE BUT I WANTED TO COMMENT (AND IN CAPS SO YOU'LL NOTICE) TO LET YOU KNOW THAT YOU'RE APPRECIATED BRO. EVEN IF I DON'T HAVE TIME TO WATCH YOUR VIDS I'LL GIVE YOU A LIKE FOR YOUR EFFORTS & FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT CUZ I KNOW HOW TIME CONSUMING IT IS WITH WHAT YOU DO. THANK YOU BRO. HOPE YOU ALWAYS KNOW THAT YOU'RE APPRECIATED. HAVE A HOOD WEEK ;)
12 minutes long is literally how big providence is lol.. I lived out there briefly I found it a bit boring honestly.. lol I guess that because I’m from nyc
They only went to one "hood" thry didnt go to other hoods in Providence. They didnt go to West Side, Hartford, Chad Brown, Fox Point, West End, Mount Hope or Arbor Glen. Just South Side.
The worst you're going to find here is drugs that does not necessarily make this place the hood. I live here I would know I've walked these streets. During the day and at night. I was homeless on the streets for 6 months a couple years ago. This is like a :mini" hood.
