Travel by Numbers heads to Provincetown, Massachusetts, USA - one of the most LGBTQ-friendly places in the United States of America. We drive through the entire town on Commercial Street, park near the Provincetown Inn, walk along the break wall towards Long Point Beach and then fly the drone for an overhead view of this popular resort town.

Great video! I’ve lived in Plymouth for over 20 years and have drove over to P Town only once in 2018. I loved it and want to go there as much as possible. On clear nights I can actually see P Town on my beach. I’m looking forward to buying a boat soon because P Town is straight across from Plymouth by boat, but driving there and around that long hook takes much longer especially in traffic

Thanks for watching Charlene! For sure driving on the point is tedious - all you need is one slow car ahead of you and you're stuck because you can't pass. A boat would be so convenient!

It actually is the Breakwater. And it is longer than 1/4 of a mile. The very tip of Cape Cod is where the Long Point Lighthouse is located (not Race Point, that is the other corner about a mile to the East). :). And watch out for poison ivy!

Well, we've been to Provincetown 7 times over probably 2 decades. To us, it doesn't seem to have changed much, but certainly the initial charm is replaced, somewhat, with familiarity. But America is lucky to have this little outpost, just as Spain is lucky to have Sitges for all of Europe. Thanks for watching!

Kevin here - you know what? I've never been to Florida (embarrassingly). I went to California twice and kind of thought, "What's the point?" I know that is more than a little flippant. Beautiful video, guys! But I have to correct you on something. A bigger factor for the Pilgrims leaving for Plymouth was that north of Pilgrim Heights in Truro, there is no drinkable water, and no arable land. Dig six inches down (or less) and it's just pure sand!
@TravelByNumbers
@TravelByNumbers 4 года назад
Thanks for the correction Robert! While we didn't know that water was an issue for pilgrims, we do know, if it's still this way, that water is still somewhat of an issue in P-Town - not in terms of lack for drinking, showers etc. but rather not everyone is allowed to have a clothes washer. At least, that's how it was years ago. Maybe there are no restrictions now? Back in the early days when we vacationed there, all water had to be piped up the 80km length of the cape. Glad you enjoyed the video, and thanks for watching!
@robertlittlefield1855
@robertlittlefield1855 4 года назад
@@TravelByNumbers Hi guys...a few years back the Commonwealth of Massachusetts forced Provincetown (natives rarely or never say PTown) to increase their daily water supply. They found an aquifer in Truro, we pay them a lot of money every year, and they put in a new pipe to supplement the old Truro supply. I seem to remember the newspaper article saying that Truro has supplied us for a very long time. Back when most of the town was out by the Wood End lighthouse, it came in by barrels. Today we seem to have enough for even the big summer days like Fourth of July and Carnival. But yes, all water is piped in from Truro. I've never heard about restrictions other than sprinkling one's lawn or car washing.
@TravelByNumbers
@TravelByNumbers 4 года назад
@@robertlittlefield1855 Thanks so much for this additional information! I kind of figured that there would have been some changes since the first time we visited your town. We've never personally been impacted in any way by water shortages, though I imagine in a drought situation, Provincetown must have to react like any other town in limiting water use. You're lucky to live in this little piece of heaven. We love it so much. Take care.

I couldn't tell if this was a curbed curator. We need to even legalize graffiti, until we replace all of nature's intelligence (how much does a tree reveal?) with literally an infinite times infinite - that smart - availability of every imaginable super therapeutic perfection of creation as beyond fair and perfect for the mind of all religions and genders and life experiences and advantages. Too bad one politician would hint - and never fight - for that/for us. Just a symbolic cancellation. Does anyone know why?

Provincetown doesn't have any of the charm it had 40 years ago. Back then the influence of the Portuguese fishermen and community gave the town tremendous character. It was just a little edgier, just a little seedier - in a good way - just a little more "Provincetown". Now it's all scrubbed up, sterilized, and family friendly = BORING! Still very scenic and worth a visit, but kinda bland.
