Provoke Spamming Tanks! A GOOD day in Mentor Roulette! 

My story time for saint mocainnes (hard). The dungeon was going well up until the last boss. First attempt, people kept moving the slime to the edge of the arena instead of a safe circle. We survived damage from it, but the healer couldn't deal with healing and mechanics at the same time, which ended in a wipe. I dont blame the healer because it was their first time. Before 2nd attempt, i asked if anyone wanted mechanics and the tank (a mentor) just pulled the boss before anyone could try. Everyone but me were standing on the circles when the aoes went out and i took time to tell them not to do that so we have safe spots. The healer took this information and the other dps tried when they could. When the slime came down, it was already in the corner, so i took time to type again to tell them it needs to be on a safe platform. It wasn't; we wiped. On the way to the 3rd pull, i was typing in detail about what to do with the mechanics and the tank was starting to shift blame to me while saying i was doing the platform part wrong. I dont remember exactly what was said because of the detailed typing and the tank pulling as soon as i dinished typing. 3rd pull, the tank (still a mentor) ignored what i explained with the platforms and the slime. The only reason we completed on the 3rd attempt was because i used ranged dmg reduction, reducing us to around 1k hp. I left shortly after that because i didnt want to make anyone angry. TL;DR Mentor tank ignores mechanics, leading to unnecessary wipe.

I’m still disappointed we don’t get the Titan Go-kart as a mount. Or miniature versions of the Ruby/Emerald/Diamond(/sapphire) weapons.

I once played Porta Decumana (A duty with only a single target) with a sprout paladin who only used who only used Prominence (not even Total Eclipse), I tried to tell them to use their single target combo, but we didn't speak the same language. I can only assume they just thought the animation looked the coolest of all their skills, or they lost a bet.

I'm wondering if the tank from the twinning is a skip sprout. Reminds me of a horrendous experience I had in tower of zot with a healer who knew nothing about healing and who refused to speak to any of us when we tried to explain mechanics (until we threatened to vote kick, THEN they got chatty)

Saw a couple of people say that the sprout paladin in Twinning bought a skip and I agree tbh. Even if you're a sprout it's lv 80, by that point you should be able to use your 1-2 aoe combo consistently and spamming provoke is often a sign of a tank that doesn't know the role very well. Again a habit that should normally subside by lv 80 if you leveled without a skip. I honestly can't really say I blame the sage for pulling for them (even if it's perhaps not the right call) since they were able to hard carry despite everything and probably just wanted to be out of there as quick as possible lol.

Why's caetsu like the only ffxiv content creator who shows character names and chat? It feels surprisingly strange every time I watch this series to see them.

The Mist Dragon does the same Prismatic Deception mechanic in The Burn; I had no idea how to resolve it until the Eden raid came out!

With that one final mob in the lava path in Matoya's Relict.. I actually didn't know that one could move at all for the *longest* time. Virtually no one ever moves it, that I had ever seen. I think most people believe it to be some kind of really weak miniboss (myself included), and when they're on the side of a path, they do tend to be entirely immobile. When I finally did learn it could be moved, it was solely because the tank range pulled it instead of gap closed to it. Which caught *them* off guard too, because it came forward a yalm or so, at which point they turned it and it got to die even faster because of positionals.

To be honest, it's not always obvious when the best time to use AoE LB is. But well, this would be a fun video idea for sure and very useful. :D

The bard in Matoya's Relict didn't trigger the cutscene because he was waiting in the wrong spot. If he waited in the correct spot he would be down by the boss before you could walk up.

E4N was a nightmare for me for a long time. Don't know why. The mechanics aren't that hard to understand but I just didn't get it for a long time. Maybe because there was always some time in between the runs I landed in and so for a long time I could not remember what I had to do until one day it just...clicked.

If it helps I'm roughly at 60 and I've only had it for a few days, maybe a week, so it is do able to get to 200 from where you are currently.

Just because I've done it before so I point it out exposing my own error but the bard using return ran past the cutscene trigger before it was active so technically they could have triggered it right as it came up and opened the path but you still need to wait for the party anyway. Also fun fact if you all return roughly before the frog starts speaking he won't start the fire and you get to do a rerun of shame through the last area... Done that.

Seeing E11N and his Line-Aoe remembers me of P11N. Its a similiar mechanic with the Light/Dark Staff. Light means AOE gets bigger, Dark means you have to move in afterwards. Funny how this Mechanic feels almost the same in 2 consecutive Tier 11 fights.

As some people have suggested, that tank may have bought a level skip. They’re on sale right now and recently i have seen multiple people who clearly bought skips.

Do you have a tip for how to position bosses who move around a lot as a tank. Like lunar subterrane boss 2

1:25 I've had healers kill me with their rescues even though I would have been safe. I Honestly think rescue should be for that 1 time out of 100 where you know for a fact the person will definitely absolutely die. For survivable damage... I think just let the person learn a lesson.

Are the eden raids the most brutal ones? I feel like I've died the most in them lol.

can you have two fey unions attached to one person ? i was doing the final shadowbringers trial and it looked like a subsequent fey union replaced the one I already had

is LB 1 even a noticeable DPS gain? It always feels like the cast time is so long that you can just do almost as much damage just by attacking instead. and also is it even a time save to use ranged LB on trash vs melee LB on boss? ofc the ranged one is a lot more potency but so is using ranged combos, so using ranged LB on trash saves, lets say, 5 seconds on that pull. couldn't melee LB save 5 seconds on the boss pull too? making both of them about equal?

I have been in expert roulette 2 days ago, despite topping the damage, not getting hit by a single thing in the aetherfont as a blm, i decided to take a hit on the last boss as i was in leylines so i just popped a shield cuz I know i can take a hit and it wont kill me and shuffling to my teammates and back to my leylines is just a waste of time and to my surprise I get pulled by healer... oh... so i just shuffled back to my leylines and got hit either way and matter of fact so did the healer. Lesson of the day? Dont pull blm's out of ther leylines cuz they probly know they can take that damage without getting killed and if not? Let them die its really not that big of a deal. Some healers on 90 are allergic to healing and it really shows. Mind u the knowitall healer had more damage taken than me at the end of the dungeon. Thats to my todays tedtalk

Bad healers who use rescue are so fucking annoying.
