PRS Horsemeat Overdrive - Odd Name But Is It Any Good? 

Finally someone properly showing the voice knob, thank you, Paul! Do I need this pedal? - No. Do I want this pedal? - Yes! :)

It's a seriously great Overdrive pedal. I pulled my '83 Tubescreamer off my board & replaced it with the Horsemeat. It's that good, imo. Paul & his team of engineers made this pedal right. Germanian transisters are nothing to sneeze at.

Been looking for reviews of this pedal but with a telecaster & you sir, fit the bill really well :) Thanks. (superb playing too)

I used to use 4 different overdrive/distortion pedals, a fuzz and a boost pedal swapping them on and off my board. Now I have 1 pedal, the horsemeat. I love it! I can get so many different tones using it with an eq pedal and a comp pedal! Paul, from PRS, knows tone and typically doesn't like pedals so if he's putting his name on a pedal you know it's going to be good. I love this thing and everyone should say least try it and see what they think. Anyway, thanks for the video! It's good to hear what others think of it.

I’d love to have it but don’t need it. It might be a tad cooler than my current Klone, the Mojohand Sacred Cow, which I love. But sadly I can’t justify it. I will say that I have gotten the Wind through the Trees dual flanger and really love it. It’s my first, and probably last, flanger. I always thought of flanger as a cheesy 80’s sound but the dual aspect is phenomenal. And the wet/dry knob allows for a very subtle single flanger at slow speed to give a bit of depth to the tone. It’s really outstanding and my go to modulation currently. Highly recommended.

Yeeah!!!! Another overdrive pedal!!! I hope 1,000 more companies make overdrive pedals next week, there just aren't enough overdrive pedals!!! They would sell a lot more of these if they renamed it Horsemeat Sandwich 🥪

Everything sounds great: your playing, the pedal, the amp, that Telecaster, etc… One thing: what amp was used in this demo, and how was it set- clean, edge of breakup, etc… Thank you, Joe

The magic setting is this gain at 3 oclock. Voice at 10 o clock. Treble is reduced to 8 o clock. Bass increased to 5 o clock . There you go. Rich full throaty prs tone.

Good demo and your’s sounds better than many other demos. Like the Zendrive, the voice control is important. Was it necessary to come in such a large box? Name could have been chosen better but sounds good. $249 like many OD pedals they keep moving up in price and Paul saw that.

About to watch this and my first thought is odd name for a pedal. Perhaps deliberate, to be different and stand out. Not your typical naming convention I would associate with PRS. Perhaps there is a story behind each of the pedals that Pau Reed Smith will share one day

Hi Paul, thanks for a great demo. That Tele sounds killer! Couple of questions about this pedal: Does it do a Klon clean boost thing? Sounds like with the gain at 0 it's still quite overdriven. Why does it say transparent overdrive? It doesn't transparent at all to my ears. It sounds good, but not transparent. Do you do guitar lessons, Paul?

I think I prefer this overdrive more as a mild overdrive, like in the first seconds of the video. The fuzz like saturation with more gain is not my cup of tea. If an amp doesn’t have a great edge of breakup sound, this pedal would seemingly be a nice fit. For high gain sounds I’d look for something different

Sounds like the voice control is an eq stage, perhaps a bit like a tone knob.

Always go to you for demos.im not sure yet.that sound can be had for much cheaper.

Interesting overdrive pedal. I see the pricing is a bit more than the JHS Angry Charlie (which I have and really like)... I may be more keen to try the Walrus Eons fuzz though...

I have a "NUX Horseman" and wonder what's the deal with the "horse"??? Interestingly while watching this video I tried to copy this sound with my Player Pro Strat and a cheap Harley Benton distortion pedal (Evil Twin). Through my studio monitors I get similar/close results. I own some boutique pedals and wonder where the difference in price comes from. Sonically there isn't much of a difference.

What amp was used and set how? If you could provide that info in your initial description it would be great, won't have to search through all the comments to see if someone else got a reply from you. thanks.

It’s called horsemeat cause it eats klons for breakfast 😏 that’s coming straight from prs himself 😂. I think the naming is great something different and interesting besides we have had a pedal called the big muff since the 70s

As a PRS fanboy, I'm not too excited about this pedal. The only thing I like is the weird name. Other than that - it sounds nothing like the Klon (at least in the demos), and is more of a fuzz/distortion than transparent overdrive.
