As a Guitarist of 20 years and a studio owner with two albums under my belt I gotta tell you - your playing is wonderful. tasteful, soulful and downright slippery. Kudos. Love "That pedal show" as well", Thanks for all!

I have the Vela. Such a beautiful sounding (and looking) guitar. So many tones... PRS hit a grand slam with this one.
@BreadandFaxes
@BreadandFaxes 2 года назад
Absolutely they did. It's so musical. I've never played a more musical guitar. It had a very usable neutral tone in every position. The coil tap on the bridge pickup is surprisingly very usable. The neck pickup is so interesting too. It is right between a low output single coil and a humbucker. It has a good thick sound that is still kinda woody and plucky. The tone controls really work well with these pickups too

I now have on in Egyptian Gold... Literally, without a doubt, the best guitar I have ever played or heard in general.

I have this exact one. But I love the Egyptian gold. Couldn't find one but now I see them everywhere. 😕. Yes I love mine also my 5th PRS. SE's and S2's also USA Custom 24. Great guitars.

Those tones are Incredible!!! One of the best sounding PRS' yet! And that's saying a lot. The best guitars made today are made by PRS .

Nice demo indeed. But don't be fooled: put any cheap guitar with decent pickups and this amp/pedals/speaker recording config and you will get killer tones ! ;-) Besides, "best" is an inappropriate term. Best for what ? Price ? Tone ? Playability ? Music style ?... I play on a dozen guitars, because none is "best". They are all good in their due respect but I would be really puzzled if I had to choose just one for a whole set. Different approach, neck size, woods, pickup configuration, frets, radius, electronics, weight, name it. My opinion is that a Tele, Strat, LP and 335-type constitute the arsenal with which you can do about everything. PRS's are OK, but have a tone color of their own, which is not a bad thing, providing you have alternatives. My 2¢ ;-)

The way a demo needs to be done. No BS, just thoughtful testing though all possible tones.

By far, the best demo of this guitar I have found. Showed all the possibilities of pickup combos, some overdrive and, thankfully, no delay pedal. Make mine cherry as well. Thanks for posting.

This guitar looks like the love child of a Gibson SG & a Fender Telecaster. Such an awesome striped down instrument, I only wish it had those bird inlays instead of the Moon inlays.

Thanks for your excellent and informative demo of this beautiful new real-world PRS. It seems I've now got to add an S2 Vela to my wish list..would make a perfect partner to my original 2008 Mira I think ;-) Top marks as always Guitarist.

D type = DEARMOND type! Sounds VERY nice. GF make a similar pick up to this but in full hum bucking size. VERY nice p/up! I have a set in 1 of my hollow bodies. Shame, the only sound he didn't solo clean was the bridge bucker split!

God I love my Vela so much. Best guitar I've owned by a landslide, and I'm a strat player lol
@BreadandFaxes
@BreadandFaxes 2 года назад
Even the pickups and controls are very dynamic. Very small adjustments make noticable difference in tone. If you roll the tone pot back about 3 points you end up with a woody, plucky sound on the bridge and neck, and if you scoop you get some really nice cream like tones. Sounds just fine dimed too. Really super versatile and musical guitar. The big mahogany slab just sings. They set up beautifully from the factory with low action, and the guitar is light and thin. Neck is comfortable like a regular old Fender strat. When you play it you just feel confident in your bends and stuff. The guitar is solid and you wouldn't think a rudimentary bridge like that would have stability but I rarely need to tune my Vela. All brass contact points for the strings on Vela too which is a nice touch. Tuners have brass posts, nut has brass infused into the material, and the saddles. Super great guitar.

Excellent demo thanks! Just snagged one in Ice Blue. I think this model will have a strong following for PRS, great tonal versatility... and as close to a Strat / Tele sound as I've heard. Sounds much smoother than the Starla. What Amp / Signal path are you using? Sounds great! ... any compressor on that?

I got a Vela last week and it IS the best guitar I’ve ever played. I’ve several really nice guitars but this is straight to the top of the tree. That said, despite it sounding incredible, the tones are little too ‘honky’ for my personal taste at times but there’s no getting away from how it plays. I’m so happy with it and to my mind a must guitar in any collection. Whether you’ve just the one or twenty…get a vela.

How does this differ from the Satin version? Is it solely the finish or is there more to it to warrant the £500 difference?
@BreadandFaxes
@BreadandFaxes 2 года назад
It's really just the satin finish. For what it's worth tho, these sell out pretty much every time they come back into stock, so if you buy one you're getting a factory fresh one and their finish is still a bit gummy. I've already started wearing through the top of the guitar where my arm sits because I don't think the guitars finish was fully cured. If the satin ones sell as quickly I bet you will eat through that finish quick, and the satin ones don't have wood filler.

if I got the truss rod cover to say Veda instead of Vela, (Veda is my four year old daughter's name) and made it 'technically' her's... would that put me in the clear for paying $1300 for a guitar? it looks like exactly what I would want though... being poor sucks! ........ some day! some day!

I love when he says that's price much more competitive than the high end usa prs guitars, cause the price of an s2, is what a teacher wins in Argentina in one year, it's quite... mmm... "funny" sometimes, when think about that kind of stuff... without being disrespectful...
@JohnBarrow1961
@JohnBarrow1961 7 лет назад
And that has what to do with anything? The S2 line is very competitively priced for USA-made guitars, especially for the PRS line. Great bang for the buck.

sciorts Can always find something to CHANGE it over to! Hard tail Strat bridge or modern Tele plate bridge with 6 saddles will make it better.
@salsplace
@salsplace 9 лет назад
giantrobot9000 My Tele has 6 saddles like a strat where I can adjust the height of each string and move each one forward and back independently of one another for the perfect intonation without effecting the other strings.
@orlock20
@orlock20 9 лет назад
***** There is no need to change it over. The S2 line has various bridge combinations. The neck pickup can be split on the other models.
@DMSProduktions
@DMSProduktions 9 лет назад
Huh? I was talking about the Bridge!
@orlock20
@orlock20 9 лет назад
***** There are two differences between this and the other S2 models. The first one being the bridge and the second being the neck pickup. I'm saying one can pick the model with the bridge the person wants and coil split the neck pickup. The person doesn't need to put a new bridge on this guitar.
@Iron883Man

I would rather buy an SE than an S2. For the extra money you would at least expect they'd keep the typical PRS aestehetics in there. Yet they don't even do their bird inlays. On top of that this peticular model doesn't sound anything like what we are used to from PRS. My personal conclusion: buy an SE and keep the money you save for the real deal.
@TheTruthRocks
@TheTruthRocks 9 лет назад
Iron883Man These are available with the bird inlays if that's your thing.
@Iron883Man
@Iron883Man 9 лет назад
Ok, thx for the info. It's not my pethicular thing, but if I'd buy a PRS...I would like the whole package of 'iconic' trademarks, yes ;)
@ANDYB1478
@ANDYB1478 8 лет назад
My Santana SE has a body made up of four pieces of mahogany. It retails for £600, and you can get an S2 Mira for under a grand with a better body construction. The S2 range is certainly worth the extra money.
