Videos like this really inspire me. I also have a lot of ficus trees at home i'll work on them when i get home. And i will try to share them too. And to be honest, i seldom see people using ficus religiosa as bonsai, i find it hard to style my tree because of the big leaves, seeing your tree inspire me to continue working on my religiosa too.
It is not a common species for bonsai for the reason you stated, the leaves get pretty large with very long stem. People often use Ficus rumphii instead because it seems to be a better candidate. But it is a species worth giving a go.
Feels like U gave us the viewer more, information what branches were coming off ,the apex n the lean n how U correct it , just ur view of the tree n every tip is great for us being, cheers
I grew one of these from seed last year. Do you find Religiousas more vigorous than microcarpas? Mine grows like a foot a month, outside or inside in the winter. It’s constantly falling over on itself because it’s growing faster than it can support.
Ficus religiosa is probably the most vigorous species out of all the Ficus species I own. It is a very fast growing species with very aggressive roots development! It is also my favorite
This is beautiful! How did you get aerial root development like that? I have three religiosas that I sprouted from seed 3 years ago, so I'm getting to the point where I need to think about styling and training.
Thank you! Those aren't exactly aerial roots. They were actually just roots I slowly exposed. I started this tree from a small cuttings and gradually I up-pot it in a massive pot and then allow roots to thicken up and the tree grow freely. Then I chop it back down and down size pot.
