Thank you very much for sharing sir. Though I'm not a German nineteenth century swords collector contrary to British and French blades, I still love this particular design- thank you Le Marchant!- and the 1811 story and variations are so intriguing. Great pieces of info for any collector in my humble opinion, awesome video to say the least.

Can I ask what was the official designated model/pattern used by the prussian light cavalry before the english LC 1796 and the Blücher M1811?

That would be the model 1742. The 1788 british lcs lloks just like it. Cheers, Vincent.

Very interesting about distal taper of M1811 blade (for the purpose of comparison with distal taper of the typical p1796lcs/it's copy like dutch М1813 №1) for example, on 0 cm, 40 cm and 5 cm from the point.

this sword can still make a great parade dress sword or functional display item even in the modern day

I have a Blucher with the following markings on the hilt and scabbard: R.A.R.13.I.L.M.K.104. On the back of base of blade it has Kaiser Mark: W 03. Scabbard has a single ring. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks and great video!

Hello James, are you sure its an Blucher sabre and not an Artillerysabre? I also have a video about those sabres on my channel. The year (19)03 would be very late for a blucher. The unit marking should read as follows: "R"esere-"A"rtillerie-"R"egiment "13", "1". "L"eichte "M"unitions-"K"olonne, Säbel No. "104" or in english: reserve artillery regiment 103, first light ammunition column, sabre no. 104. Nice unit marking! Cheers, Vincent.

@@imperialgermanbayonets9244 Vincent, Danke! you would know better than I! It certainly could be an artillery sabre, and that makes more sense to me! I will check out your other video. I found it at garage sale of deceased US Navy Aviator who was a military enthusiast! Thanks for response! Cheers!!!

The same modell was used by the Argentinian Cavalery Grenadiers during The independence wars against Spain. Maby manufactured after The modell from English soldiers after The 2 frustrated invasions atemt to Buenos Aires.

Im Stukenbrok-Katalog von 1913 kann man Blüchersäbel als geschmackvolle Dekorationen für ein paar Mark kaufen. Der Spitzname ist also über 100 Jahre alt!
