I have this and love it!! The key is to have your yarn nice and loose and the weight on before you start winding. Once you start, DON’T STOP!! Keep trying...it’s so worth it. I’m using mine to make doll arms and legs. It’s fantastic!! 🧶❤️

It seems like it's made for a left handed person. I did get it to work, but just like other machines....a little trial and error

I just tried this and ended up knotting up the whole thing

i have one of these. When you have set up the four needles, ie hook the first, miss the second, hook the third, miss the fourth. Then this part is really important.... pull down on the yarn end at the bottom and do not touch the yarn feeding into the machine as you crank you will see the needle raise up and the latch clear the yarn, if it doesn't clear the yarn you need to pull harder on the yarn end. After a few rounds you can attach the weight and it will work fine. Tension on the bottom is crucial.

Followed along (I’m a visual learner, terrible at written instructions!) and luckily my unit worked perfectly. Ended up creating some drawstring backpack straps in half an hour that would have taken we over a week to do by hand! My biggest gripe is the tiny plastic hooks you’re meant to pull the yarn though before it feeds into the machine. My yarn kept pulling out of it, so eventually I just used my hands to create light, even tension going in.

Bought one of these on a whim after I kept seeing it in the Michael's clearance isle. Best knitting tool I've ever bought. I had the same issue when first working with it but after a few trial & errors it works like a charm. Used it with Loops & Threads Woolike & Lion Brand Truboo with amazing results. When you are turning it with yarn, I'm hearing a clicking noise (don't get that with mine). Probably a bad machine & highly recommend finding another!

I hope you try this again, but instead of putting tension on the yarn as it feeds in you have to put a little tension on the yarn as it comes out of the bottom.

There are 2 things to do to make it work. 1. Make sure the needle "doors" are opening when they are not capturing the yarn. I wiggled them back and forth gently to loosen the hinge on the needle. This made the needle door fall open when it's supposed to. If it's closed when it's supposed to capture the yarn, it will skip the stitches. 2. It needs very steady tension. I used a sewing machine tension replacement part to create uniform tension. Those two things made it work beautifully.

I used Scheepjes Softfun yarn DK Weight and its worked really well. I also found if I would too slowly or too fast it didn't work so it needs a little speed but don't go crazy. Keep trying . . . it looks amazing when done!

I got one two days ago and it works perfectly. You need to tension it correctly and put the weight on at the beginning. It's easy!

I bought and just received this. For the life of me, I can’t get the weight off the bottom. I’ve tried for two hours, so far! Really upset over this. Still not successful. A new design re: weight release is needed for this gadget.

Every video I've watched shows the same thing, the user having difficulty removing the weight. I have yet to try mine, but will try to remember the technique if I am successful, and I'll report back.

You don’t need to pull/ put tension on the wool that’s fed from the top. I made the same mistake.

This tool will only take 4ply - DK (Uk) You need to not add too much tension on the yarn and the weight pulling it down you need right from cast on, you’ll have to help it along until you get it going. But the it needs weight pulling down the knitting so the yarn can form stitches on the needle properly. This idea was first created by Bond, they called it the “Magicord”.

I’ve just spent way too much time watching videos with this tool (and knitting dollies). The big difference I’m seeing between all the successful uses and your difficulties is that you shouldn’t apply any tension to the yarn going in. It needs to be rather loose. I don’t own one-yet-bit I hope that helps.

I have one. I knitted a cord but now don't know what to do the cord. I like it because the machine anchors to the table.

Could it be the yarn used for those of us having issues? The videos I have seen of “success“ seem to be acrylic tightly spun yarns. I was trying to use a cotton yarn and it was splitting and catching on the hooks, and going down the outside of the tube instead of inside of it and out the bottom

That's a super good possibility! I still haven't had a ton of luck with it though no matter what yarn I was trying. 😥

You have to keep tension on the yarn with your hand. Make your first time around then drop your weight. First catch hooks 1-3-1 then start spinning around all hooks. Make sure each hook latch pops open.

I recently bought this model after not being able to get the blue Prym to work. The lady at the wool shop assured me that this one was the Rolls Royce version! Nope.... still can't get the darn thing to work!!!!!!!! 😤

I've had all the exact same problems you had and was ready to throw the thing out the window. I kept trying and trying for about an hour because it actually should have been a gift to my sister and I wanted to be able to show her how it works. Then, all of a sudden it did work..... But I have no idea why. The instructions that come with it are terrible and like you say, you don't wana go out and buy a specific yarn for it! You wana use it for your leftovers!! Well, I'll keep on trying for a bit. But generally I am very dissapointed about this start with a product from an otherwise reputable brand....

It’s the yarn. It needs to be thicker. I’m not sure on the terminology but kind of like the standard DK??? I tried the same as you did in the video and it wouldn’t work whatsoever. It kept getting stuck on the little lip where the hook closes. Once I used heavier yarn it went like a dream. Just made 2 extra long pieces to make wired names and it only took about 30 mins do make both compared to crocheting 2hrs to make 1!

Can you use more than one strand? Wondering about using multiple color of yarn at once. Thanks!
@HappilyHookedMagazine
@HappilyHookedMagazine 3 года назад
I couldn't get it to work with one strand, and the directions say to use a super thin yarn so it might not work with more than one.

I have an I cord maker but it isn’t this brand. I know Arne and Carlos showed the same one and they had no problem with theirs. I pull down on the yarn when I star turning to get it started and then add my clip to weight it. The I cord is only as big as a pencil around and not very feasible as a purse handle.

Well thats good to know its so small! I was watching a few other videos after I made this and they all seem to be getting it to work so I am going to let it rest for a few days and try and come back fresh and try again!

It almost seems like the top feeding yarn needs to be above the hook instead of more to the side.
