i too was skeptical of the power regeneration products from ps and also had a furman conditioner myself. I own audio gd stuff which is not popular among the folks that believe measurements to be the end all. I have the non he versions of the audio gd gear which dont have the regen feature. I really wanted the he products from agd but didnt want to sell my existing agd stuff so i took a risk and got the ps audio regenerator. It does make a difference and did work better than my furman conditioner exactly the way you described it to be. I agree the price is up there buying brand new so i got it used.

Quick Update: When I first got my Powerplant, I was using it stock just the way wave did and boy was I missing out. I ordered the thickest power cable for lower resistance and also a high end synergistic fuse and to my surprise, It completely transformed my whole system in the best ways possible. Even more detail was revealed in all parts of the frequency. Didn't think these tweaks would make such a drastic improvement.

Hi Randy it's funny, I also have a PP3 Plant and audio gd DAC combos. First an R-28 w/o regenerated PS and now an even better R-27RE with the regenerated power supply coming from their R-8HE DAC (less expensive than R-27HE). I'm satisfied with both PP3 (fully in line with this review conclusions) and audio-gd devices and - especially for audio-gd - their excellent price / musical performance ratio (I really don't care about they measure not so well as we don't hear measures but music !). Btw both PS Audio (Paul) and audio-gd (Kingwa) managers are great people and both strongly believe on the importance of power supply's quality. What seems to be true IMHO. Gratings from France !

I've had the PP3 for about 3 years now and my experience with it suggests that power cord does matter even if you're only talking about a power regenerator. I just found that out inadvertently as I had a few spare power cords that I could play with, namely a Van den Hul cable, a Furutech 14awg cable and a Burmester cable, and I've finally settled on a vintage Harmonic Tech 11awg cable for PP3. With this cable, the music is fuller with more details, more punchy and more easy on the ear, almost like I have a live band playing. BTW, the rubber feet of PP3 are provided as standard but better quality feet will be needed in the quest for the last word in analysis and musicality.

I wish I had the willingness to buy the expensive Psaudio regen BUT I did buy a cheap 500W balanced isolation toroidal transformer and got outstanding results similar to what you described. I have a mid tier headphone setup which clearly shows refinement all across the board. After getting such results I got crazier and decided to give cheap knockoffs of expensive hi-fi audio cables a try.. All of these are currently in my system.

Any component that costs more than $100 gets immediate "I've paid a lot for this so it must make a difference or I'm a mug!" syndrome applied. "This thing cost a lot and those guys must know their stuff to charge this much!" is too much of a push to want to hear improvements. Thinks back to the 1990's when I used to read hi-fi magazines. The reviewers always had the ultimate setups but every month the latest 'gadget' pushed it another 10% up the chain. After 5 years their soundstages must have been 400 feet wide and so quiet there was nothing to be heard. There was NEVER any item that got a "hmm it did nothing!" or "God it was awful!" review. Pinch of salt.

You never know how much junk is riding along the AC lines into your equipment until it's gone. If you think that you live in an area with lots of RFI and EMI that might affect your rig, take the leap of faith and take a chance with their thirty day trial. Class D amplification owners shouldn't be reluctant. Check with PS Audio about the limitations for amplifier applications. PS Audio has also offered a trade in program in the past so that's worth inquiring about if you've got some gear gathering dust.

I have the stellar power plant 3 as well, and love it. I see the Audiosciencereview crowd is here in force. They should just stick to Topping/THX videos and threads. @inothome
@inothome 21 день назад
Ever notice the people claiming it does are the ones who bent over and WANT to hear a difference to justify wasting their money? Don't forget your power cord too. Never mind the 100's of feet of wire in the wall going to said power cord.
@grandrapids57
@grandrapids57 21 день назад
@@inothome a high grade power cord is not about the thousands of feet of wire before it: 1- be of enough gauge that no variations of power demand will alter its transmission to the amp, 2- act as an antenna to receive and send to ground spurious signals: that is it has not 3 wires, but 4, the 4th one is also connected to ground but only on the wall side. And yes, there is a difference.that can be heard given the right system and circumstances. On my system, probably not, I live in a small apartment and can't play it loud enough to matter.
@inothome
@inothome 21 день назад
@@grandrapids57 Exactly my point, what is "shielding" the wires in the wall and stopping them from being an antenna? Not that your electrical wires / cord are going to pick up any signals that should effect any quality piece of equipment to begin with. But, if your audio equipment was that crappy and somehow the noise on your AC line made it in to the audio output, then time to rethink the equipment you are buying. The last 2 feet of cord isn't going to make a difference. As far as power delivered, again, having even a #10 gauge, two foot power cord does nothing if the sockets are fed from #14 or #12 and are 60 feet long to the breaker.
@grandrapids57
@grandrapids57 21 день назад
@@inothome High grade cables are #14 or #12 and larger, naturally. . As for the wires in the wall, there is nothing, or very little going from the street to your wall plug where the stereo is that produces RFI (or maybe today's higher frequencies RFI is out of date?) It is the highly local area near the stereo with multiple items that causes it. I think much younger people today are so used to everything in general having such low RFI leakage, I am sure they never had to move a radio or TV away from a video game, a microwave or a TRS 80 Model I,, So today RFI is regulated as being so low, its now a foreign concept. Of course it is there and the 4th wire collects it and shunts it to ground. How much you have is dependent solely on you, your wiring and your equipment. You will have no RFI coming from down the street or from the bathroom clock-radio, but you will have it from all the appliances that are within a few feet of your system. As for the other points, it is the engineer's folly to use the 1st principles of physics and believe one can know without testing it: if that was the case, there would be no use for modeling or experimentation.
@inothome
@inothome 21 день назад
@@grandrapids57 There is plenty of RFI everywhere! Ever hook up a scope and make a loop of wire? All sorts of electromagnetic fields everywhere and yes, some in the audible range as well. If there is something near your audio equipment causing actual audio interference in your gear, it wouldn't be coming through the power cord. If it actually is, the audio gear has sub-standard power supply filtering inside and you need to get your money back. But a power cord or "regenerator" is not going to physically make your audio better. Physiologically, it may but physically quantifiable better, no. There's plenty of reviews on these things with actual data that proves it. The comment below this one sums is up well, "A fool and his money were parted".

I respectfully advise everyone here that such products as this are absolutely useless (and worse). If you think these products are useful, then please talk to an actual real EE, as opposed to marketeers and utterly clueless reviewers who practice zero controlled experiments to back up their imaginations. This really is way out there in audiophoolery whacko-land. Might even be the worst ever example, given the crazy high price charged to support HiFi ego. 😂

My experience does not agree with your content-less criticism. Instead of making a serious claim ("absolutely useless") try actual statements we can understand and validate. In contrast, you didn't say anything except: "Trust me it's no good"). No, I don't trust you. I do know what my experience is with these devices. All I can say is that there is no detectable noise in my system since using this,I got close with quality cables and good gear but this was the last thing I had to do to get great sound without noise at low-volume.
@grandrapids57
@grandrapids57 Год назад
That post has less creditability that what it purports to critique - the writer hasn't even tried one out although he has seen the testimony, such as it is, of people who have, and with no experience himself, dismisses those who have. Besides, there is much in audio that cannot be measured with today's tech or if it is measurable it is done only with a huge effort. For example, find a meter and play a recording into it, that will, like a conductor, be able to tell which violinist's instrument is out of tune or which member of the orchestra is playing staccato, measure how far the singer's mouth is from the microphone, or which will measure and place the 3d placement of instruments in a 2 channel recording. Instruments measure what they measure, but they are not a trained brain.
@plcamp1
@plcamp1 Год назад
I see comments against my advice. So I will make the message stronger. These devices will make everything worse, not better…particularly if you use them in front of a power amp. This comes not from some random guess, but from observing controlled tests that prove it. Snake oil sells only to the ignorant. The marketeers depend upon you being ignorant. Check out the several reviews by independent audiosciencereview and you will see that such devices do nothing of any value, and can reasonably be expected to make things worse. Or you could just think. Do you REALLY expect a high end DAC, amp or other device manufacturer would allow their product to be susceptible to power line noise? It’s an invented nonsense problem looking for snake oil susceptible suckers with deep pocketbooks.
@grandrapids57
@grandrapids57 Год назад
@@plcamp1 Well taken, but if such a device can make the 60hz, 120v power, with whatever impedance, worse going out than what's coming into it, it certainly stands to reason that such a device could stand to improve it, and likely an engineered device for that job, does do that job. Although whether such a device's regeneration can make worse or improve the audio quality of an amp is not a question I am addressing here.
