In my humble opinion, the pinnacle of the Gradius series, even Gradius V does not feel as good as this game does. Not as aggressive in difficulty as the arcade games before it, it just felt perfectly balanced. Gradius IV also came out after this game, and is definitely not the high point of the series, but I actually happen to like it more than Gradius V as well, not a popular opinion, but I stand by it with conviction.
This is among the top games of all times for me. It was released before Gradius 4(which wasn't made by Konami) and thus the last Gradius Konami really worked on, that has allot interesting ideas. Was released 1997, everything else was released earlier, like Sexy Parodius or Salamander 2. Crazy graphic as well!
@@morrowlterraslove Oops, my bad. Konami indeed made Gradius 1-4. It was the 5th one on PS2 was not done by Konami but instead by Treasure and published by Konami. I keep getting that mixed up, because I keep remember that Gradius was planned to end with Gradius 3. That they made a 4th one for the arcade was a surprise already and only done because so many fans like Gradius.
@@jahmirwhite7807 At least as far as I know. They made 1, 2 and then 3 and wanted to call it a day. The PS1 mostly had remakes of Arcade versions of Gradius, Salamander & Parodius. Though Parodius had some games exclusively for home consoles, like that "Oshaberi Parodious Forever With Me" where a famous Japanese guy comments what happens on screen. But yeah, that is what I heard. Gradius 4 came 10 years after 3, which is also telling. Gradius 5 then is a PS2 exclusive, while the PSP had "Collections" for Gradius, Salamander, Parodius and Twin Bee, Gradius 5 is not on the Gradius Deluxe Pack, sadly. But yeah Gradius 5 is made by Treasure, they made Ikaruga and Radiant Silvergun in that timeframe as well, both you can get on Steam now.
@@jahmirwhite7807yes III was meant to be the last game in the series. I mean even the subtitle of the game’s name “From Legend to Myth” gave that sense of finality and you have fight Bacterion himself who was the master mind the whole time and the previous games were just henchman. but yeah after the third game the franchise did continue with the Parodius arcade games (and have a SFC exclusive game and the first game in the spin off series which is the MSX game did release before III did). later Salamander 2 released and the Gradius series was revived with Gaiden and then I guess sorta fell off with IV (I really don’t like IV and it was the least successful game in the series) and later V that wasn’t developed by Konami and there was a couple of spin offs like Advance and Japanese phones and I forgot there was the Gameboy Gradius games and now we have Pachinko
