"Gaaru" that Aishwarya"ji" says while addressing Mani Ratnam sir is supposed to be the "Telugu" equivalent to "ji" in Hindi, used as a mark of respect at the end of anyone's name, and the Tamil equivalent is "avargal, " as Mani sir and his movie are Tamil origin. In the past too, I have seen and heard several bollywood actors addressing Tamil stars, actors and directors as "gaaru"!!
