Is your PS2 not reading discs? Do your games not work when you try to play them on your PlayStation 2?
Well, this video will help you fix the disc reading problem error.
For this example, it was my PS2 fat model but the same concept applies to the slim model. In fact, it's far easier to fix this problem on a PS2 slim but I will show it here on my original fat PlayStation 2.

I eventually got around to trying this today, after being prompted by a 'blue disc' purchase yesterday, the game seemed fine, very few marks but my PS2 wouldn't read it. I find it's the blue discs my system struggles with.. anyhoo, followed your walk through and it's all good now, cheers.

Sounds like you filmed this in the summer 🙄 Going to proceed to try and find my fat ps2 now. Managed to lose it in a 2 bed bungalow lol

I have a problem with my PS2 reading discs when I brought it from eBay (March 2024). When I put a game disc in, which begins the " Disc reading..." in progress but the disc icon didn't show up about 5 minutes or so. The only source I know of is something wrong with the laser or disc drive itself. Which is why I found this video helpful on how to clean it.

@@jbcollects1978 Sadly I haven't looked inside the machine. I ended up sending back for the refund and getting replacement by April 2nd. 😔
