Excellent videos! Very good looking for data from the NAND (slim = NOR?). I'm curious to know if you had seen data moving on the NAND, where you would have probed next. Would you just reflow the RSX instead, or still reflowed the CELL? Also, does the ethernet IC generate clock for the southbridge on the original phat models? (CECH-A through E) I have a phat model showing the same symptoms... HDD light just one blink, sits, no recovery. All power rails look good. I'm going to check NAND with oscilloscope next, but also check ohms of resistors around power stages (like your other video). Thanks!
Shea Ribbster : data was not running, I just reflow the CPU. Clock for the southbridge is basically the output from the ethernet chip, the clock input source is the crystal oscillator that is the input on pin no. 39.
@@idreestech did you know? In indonesia theres a famouse midchip hack called orbis that you can transfer a ps3 slim model to super slim rsx gpu and frankenstien swap to all fats model? It makes them all fat very prolong much more life than ps3 slims??... I hope you can get also a tutorials because they dont speak english
my ps3 facing same problem but few months ago i try to open again and again pressing the button and it turned on and i play games but in the morning same problem
Hello and thank you. My language is Farsi, I didn't really understand what you said in the video. But I will be grateful if you can help me solve the ps3 problem by chatting. I have a ps3 slim model 3000b and I use HEN. My PlayStation has the same problem as you mentioned in the video, but even more strangely, my device turns off and the hdd light does not work anymore and it does not show anything, but strangely if it is hit it works and works unless you touch it, if you touch the device the smallest, it turns off. but today it completely stopped working when i was activating ps3hen the ps3 turned off and now it won't turn on and it won't show anything at all can i fix it myself at home? Because there are many brokers in our city
Diaa Dio: Solder balls underneath the chip become hot on turning the PlayStation on, and turning it off they get cool. We keep it turning on and off many times. Over time, balls get cracks and loosen their proper connection between the motherboard's pads and chips.
I have the same PS3 Slim CECH3003A. It shows green light for 20-30 seconds and then loses power. I can always get it to boot by removing 13 screws and taking out the power supply for a second and putting it and the screws back. I have to repeat this process every time I want to use the system. After the system boots successfully, it works for up to 12 hours without issues. It's strange. It's UK model that I bought used in 2019 and ran with an electricity converter. Could that have broken it? Though, it works fine with the converter after getting it to boot. I know that the converter is not causing the issue (but could've caused it in the first place). I've also used a local cable, and it doesn't make a difference. The issue is not caused by the HDD, power supply or thermal paste as I've changed all of them. I think it's a motherboard related issue. What could it be? It's strange that the system works perfectly after it has booted succesfully.
@@idreestech If I understood correctly, you mean that I should use pliers or so and bend the two clips closer to each other as well as clean the clips. Is that so? I've used 70% alcohol to clean them. Is it enough or should I use 99% alcohol. I think bending the clips closer to each other might be the fix I've been looking for. After I know what to do, and do so, I'll report back in a week to tell whether or not it worked. The system has fooled me many times before. That is, I've thought I've fixed the issue when in reality, the boot has simply worked for an unusually long time.
@@idreestech Bending the clips only made the problem worse. I couldn't force the system to boot anymore. However, good news! I found a permanent solution the other day. Here's a description of my PS3 Slim's symptoms, it cause & solution: Hi! I was able to finally fix my PS3. Here's a description of the symptoms, causes and the solution of my problems. For the past two years, I've been trying to fix my PS3 Slim CECH3003A. The other day, I finally found a solution. PS3 Slim symptoms: A red standby light shows up. After pressing it, you see a green light for 20-30 seconds during which the fan is spinning. No picture. Sometimes, the system does boot, and it either freezes almost immediately or works perfectly for 12 hours, but then the problems persist, and the system struggles to boot. Cause: CPU is not making good connection with the thermal pads, because they can't be tightened tight enough. Thus, the CPU chip malfunctions. Solution: buy two washers for the thermal pad screws. Putting a washer on the two screws allows you to tighten the thermal pads very tight. The locker are like tiny rings. Their diameter is 5,3mm. After I put two lockers (rings) in the screws, I could immediately feel that I was able to tighten the pads much tighter, and the system immediately booted up AND without the top cover on, which was unprecedented. Here's the video in which I found the solution: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-W1r6o4sueyo.html I wasn't able to find any solution to this issue anywhere before I found the video, so I hope more people will find the solution.
@@excitedaboutlearning1639 Good work. I've done something similar with a fat console that was having a major overheating problem. It would run 72C at idle with the fan at 80%. I put a piece of 1/8" thick cardboard on the underside of the board under the cpu and gpu. This helped allot. Then I cut 4 strips from a plastic card, and placed one under each corner of the heat sink clamps, which helped even more. Now the temps are around 50-52C with a fan speed of 35%. After seeing your video, I think I'll try to shim the clamps on my slim model as well to see if it will fix it. The slim does the same thing that the one is this video is doing. At first it would turn off immediately after pressing the power button. I found that a bit of pressure on the psu would make it stay on for 40 seconds before powering down, but still no audio or video output. I hooked up an atx psu to verify if the psu was the issue, but the problem persist.
Hello. I have the same ps3 with similar problem. When i turn it on the fan is spinning and green light is on for about 7 seconds, and then turns off just like yours. Do i need to reflow the gpu?
great work, from mozambique here. I have a superslim model that had the same problem before, bus i changed the cpu and the other chips married to it but now it just stays at green light forever, no video, no beeps and does not turn off, any solution to that?
The video is not so good, let's see togheter why: 1) Reflow doeasn't fix the problem, reball instead will fix it 2) Never reflow or reball without removing old thermal paste, the chip is getting more heat than needed 3) ALWAYS change thermal paste when you disassemble the console or your time is wasted because bad thermal paste will cause again the same problem 4) ALWAYS clean the console when you disassembly it, the dust cause overheating that leads again to the same issues
Dear, The points are right raised by you. But my focus is always to pinpoint or target the fault. And to make understand these complicated circuitries.
@@idreestech you're right to pinpoint or target the fault, but not everyone has our knowledge on how to correctly do these repairs, for me i better to lose a bit more time and show the complete process with the right procedures, so everyone can learn something and maybe one day they can start they're own business. I'm not attacking you or your work, but unfortunately these days on RU-vid there are too many misleading videos that can cuase really huge issues if seen by the person who don't know how to fix these things correctly 👍
I have a similar problem on my newly acquired 2500 model. If there's by the chance problem of a HDD? I installed that HDD to my PC and formated it, but now i have no clue what could be the fault. Maybe reflowing will help, but is it permanent?
Bro how to know if cpu not set good in place on motherboard.i do reflow for cpu that remove from motherboard by fall console...green light then tern off but cpu conect to motherboard by reflow.
@@idreestech it's had 2 nec tokin replaced I bought it off eBay like that. It worked just fine then froze and then it just ylods when I turn it back on 😭
