It's a shame in my opinion that SNK just seemed to want to put out emulated versions of their PS2 collections rather than at least updating them for HD. Seems like a lazy choice, but it's better than nothing I guess.
I got Damashi ADK on PS4 from LRG, was glad to get a physical copy I guess you could call it of Twinkle Star Sprites. Wish they would translate and release the sequel which was exclusive to Japan AND PS2 only.
Turrican and shadow of the beast aren't Turbo grafx originals. They are C64 and Amiga. And the turrican flashback collection isn't the best one, its the Anthology collector edition with a ton of items in a Amiga big box.🙂👍🏻
The original turrican games were 16 bit games Atleast in the case of the amiga versions, the c64 was 8bit. They were the commodore home computer originals (c64 and amiga) rather than console ports, and they're pretty much as far as turrican fans go the preferred versions for purists I have no hesitation in saying
I got a good amount of these on PS4. I own collections like Sega Genesis Classics, Street Fighter 30th Anniversary, KOF: Orochi Saga, both Namco Museum Archives, all the Mega Man collections available, Capcom Arcade Stadium, SNK 40th, Capcom Beat Em' Up Bundle, Samurai Shodown Neogeo Collection and Turrican. I am loving every bit of this collections and enjoyed discovering games of the past without spending an arm and a leg and same goes with remasters, ports and remakes. I know people will say "Just emulate on PC" which really makes me upset because 1. I only use my laptop to work and do casual stuff. It's basically a normal non-gaming laptop. Mainly game on consoles, mostly on PS4. 2. I rather play on my TV. Yes you can hook up a laptop to display on TV using HDMI, but for the life of me I couldn't figure out how to close my laptop when displaying the image on TV without going to sleep and it bugs be seeing to screens at the same time. If want to see two screens I rather play on a DS. 3. PC gamers get to play a lot of these classics even before official collections due to emulation, but what do console gamers even get? I know these consoles will get modded, but not everyone wants to mod there console because they want don't want to risk anything bad like bricking the console or losing the privilege to play online, go to the marketplace on their consoles and other stuff. 4. It can be pretty tough to set up an emulator to get the results you want and even some results you want requiring stronger CPUs and graphics cards. That's why I like it that these collections already have pre-made settings for each game. and 5. I honestly find playing on these collections more pleasant playing on consoles and handhelds than using some random emulator online on a computer. Gaming is like this to me. Sitting down making myself comfy, turn on the TV and console and grab the controller playing the game and maybe grab the handheld and play away until it needs to get charged. I am a console gamer at heart and could care less if the PC Master Race gets in the way or tells me things like "Stop buying dumb hardware". I am excited for two more collections, Capcom Fighting Collection to play Darkstalkers and Hyper Street Fighter II and Sonic Origins because I really want to play the Christian Whitehead/Retro Engine ports of Sonic 1, 2 and CD on my TV and to see Sonic 3 & Knuckles get the treatment. I am a big Sonic fan after all.
