Man I wish Sony would support 1440p, its so dumb that they could just release a firmware update to do this but so far have only said "we'll look into 1440p if theres sufficient interest".

@@fu3g0100 I think it will work. what people are saying is that you can set the PS5 to 4k and it will down scale it to 1440p. which i guess it’s cool. Hopefully one day the PS5 will support 1440p at 120fps. but for now you got 1080p and 4k at 120fps. you should be good bro.
Thanks. I've gone down the rabbit hole trying to figure this all out watching many videos and yours is far and away the best. Going to go with the LG850 or BenQ2780. I didn't think the LG could really have a 1ms response time. Some independent testers say its around 5 sec, so BenQ (listed 5ms) and LG seem similar
@@user-tt1xo3bk4i I'm happy with it. It's a nice balance of being able to play 120hz supported games and not sacrifice too much with 1440p resolution. I prefer the smoothness of 120Hz over 4K for most games. I have a large 4K TV, so occasionally for story based games where I want that impressive 4K graphics experience I'll hook it up to that. At the time I was looking, monitors that did both 4K and 120Hz were way too expensive. Haven't looked recently as I'm not looking to upgrade
Conflicted on what monitor to get. I've got my PS5 and my new 3070 build PC, I live in New Zealand so generally seeing a video with all the different monitors causes conflict due to the massive price differences that we have here compared to anywhere else. Most of these monitors are ranging from $600 - 1,000+
I have a PS5, here is the small diffirences. 4K: • Smaller Texture Details are slightly more sharp and greater in detail. • The Dynamic Resolution used in 95% of PS5 Tweaked games is very poor and bad actually to be completely frank with you all, it takes distant objects like poles, traffic lights, and grass. And makes them look like they smooth togheter and the effect is very visible almost like an annoying artifact. • The Hud elements of all games, sometimes including 1080p locked ones are really downscaled, so something is seriously wrong with the 4K scaling. This issue is visible in games when you do not use an HDR YUV444 Deep Color Output Monitor ”format”. • a monitor or television with that requirement is not cheap at all, and without it its way better just opping for a 144hz/240hz gaming monitor with 1080p, the fast hz rate and better pixelcount makes for a supreme image in all PS5/PS4 games. And those monitors are way cheaper. Don’t go above 27” tho. That will make smaller details look less sharp and more blurred. On older televisions from 2017 and back the PS5 can’t scale anything correctly so everything on image manages to look poor and blurry. Don’t get me wrong, I really love my PS5. But its 4K support is really poor and the whole Raytracing elements talk is just cringe 😂 The console works best when 1080p is on and most ingame settings are maxed ”without RT” Thanks for reading folks.
Thank you for this. I was planning on getting the 27GN950-B exclusively for the PS5 since it has HDR600, 144hz, and is 4K. And I may still get this if the newer 2.1 HDMI monitors aren't any better price-wise. I only plan to use the PS5 for it's exclusive story-based games. I know Miles Morales and Demon Souls only max out at 60fps on performance mode. So I doubt 120hz will be an option for most non-FPS games.

Can’t go wrong with the MSI MAG27qrf-qd monitor. It’s the best one I’ve owned. I use it for my series x at 1440p 120hz. It also great for PS5 because it will accept the 4K signal and downsample to 1440p. Also, I realize I probably shouldn’t have made the comment because this was a PS5 specific video. Sorry I was watching a lot of monitor videos and they were all running together in my head.

@@baguette7014 I got mine from Newegg because they were in stock. It was on sale for $434. B and H photo/video had it for $419 but they were never in stock. I’ve had good experiences ordering from both places. I would have gone with Best Buy because they are local for me and I could return it easy if there was a problem, but they don’t carry it.
Hardware Unboxing (RU-vid Channel) did an awesome in depth review of the monitor and it’s worth watching. That video made me make my decision to go with the MSI - Ive always used Asus, Benq, and never MSI - I was in the fence but couldn’t be happier with the MSI

Good that you pointed out that ps5 will not be achieving 4k and 120 fps in most of the games since even a high end graphic card struggle to achieve so that 120hz is almost pointless.
@@virexium6422 120hz at 1080p should work on most games because somehow the PS5 can run many AAA games at true 4K 60fps (which would bump the FPS count a loooot higher if it ran at 1080p)
I play FPS 99% of the time so I got a 1080p 144hz monitor a couple of weeks ago 24”. I’m debating on wether I should return it for something like the 1440p monitor that you suggested. But I’m worried 1080p at 27” will be too blurry. It would be nice to already have it if Sony comes out with an update but I’m not holding my breath for that. The HDMI 2.1 monitors or waaaaaaaay too expensive. The first one that announced price is the Acer. $900! This honestly makes me want to get an Xbox. Lol. Too bad all my friends are on PlayStation.
lol I feel your pain. I'd probably stick with your 1080p 144hz monitor @ 24" for now and wait to see if the PS5 will eventually support 1440p. 24"/25" is the sweet spot for 1080p gaming imo.
The benq ex2510 is in my opinion the best monitor for the ps5. I would like to see you using it for a ps5. It has build in speakers, freesync premium, 144hz and hdr for 250 dollars
They should have also put a display port on the consoles if they really cared about gamers so they want us to pay over a 1000 for a monitor or tv thanks for giving us options im playing on the Samsung 1440p hrd 144 monitor g70
A point on the LG 27GL850-B, you mention you can do 120 fps at only 1080p but it is worth noting that on my Xbox series x you can do 120 fps at 1440p when you turn adaptive sync off. At first i was worried about turning adaptive sync off in case of signs of screen tearing but when i play Cod Warzone i notice no issues at all. So i game at 120 fps at 1440p.
Thanks for the tip. This video is mainly talking about PS5 and some reference to PC. I haven't had a chance to boot up my series X yet but I might do a similar video for the series X when I get the time.
@@MrSonicspinner I'm not totally sure as I don't own a ps5, but I believe that the ps5 doesn't run at 1440p anyway, only 4k and 1080p, if that is the case then might as well have 1080p at 120fps on the few games that support it (warzone doesn't have an option of 120fps on ps5). But again I'm not 100% sure on that.
Can you send me a link to the video or article you're referring to? The LG 27GL850B can 100% run at 1080p/120hz - 3:51 of the video is a screen cap of the monitor showing it working.

LG + PS5 is as best as shit gets right now lol, monitor sales for 1k on Amazon. Glad I got it on Best Buy in October for 800$. Best 4K, 144hz/1ms monitor available right now, hands down!
This might be a dumb question, if I buy the LG27GL850-B can I play story games on 4K 60hz then switch it to 1080p 120hz when I want to play a competitive game ?
@@stevehammond1330 I think for the price range it's perfekt the ips panel is just wonderful beautiful popping colors and the options u get with the mount is great and I think for a screen size like 27 1440p 144 hz is just enough ( sorry for my englisch I'm german so yeah, I hoped it helped)

Great video! It would be awesome if you could do a deep dive with the LG 27GL850-B monitor. Specifically, I'd like to know how the experience is when running a 1080p game w/ 120fps on a 1440p monitor. Is the 1080p content stretched to fit a 1440p screen? Does it look blurry or abnormal?
I’m a complete noob so 🐻 with me. Would you guys recommend this for a “sweet spot” fps and the occasional adventure games? Or should I wait till hdmi 2.1 monitors? PS5 btw
@@cantseeshadow it is a 1080p monitor which means most of ur ps4 games that can run at 60fps are smooth as butter and very detailed depending on the game. For ps5 games that I’ve played are Myles morales and Astros playroom and both are very good on it. The hdr on it is amazing and colors and contrast on it are incredible. Also the first 280hz monitor in the world but u can’t access it unless you connect it to a pc but honestly I prefer playing my ps5 on it vs my 4K tv bc of how good the graphics are on it. And this is coming from a mainly pc gamer. As for hdmi 2.1 it’s ur choice but I honestly dunno if it will make a difference unless ur getting an 8k display which is too expensive for me xd

Great job in this video. Many have been looking at the Samsung Odyssey G7 in either 27" or 30" which also boast high refresh rates but at 1440p. What information would you provide versus the LG 27" models in your video?

@@MatthewMora Could you test mag274qrf/qd? Both of them can support 4k signal and able to downscale to 1440P. Saw the hardware unbox's review. They are good gaming monitor, but don't know how the dowscaler function effect looks like.
If anyone is interested, they just released the Vizio V series 4K UHD specifically designed for the PS5 with only HDMI 2.1 ports, it looks gorgeous and honestly better than any examples in this video, also 120hz and it’s 40” is only $299 usd.. on sale so act fast! You won’t be disappointed, again this is a TV not a monitor, but it is a “gaming TV”
@@MatthewMora just look up Vizio V series man, it should be at most electronics stores, not sure the model number right now but if you look it up it up it’s the one that says “Vizio V series 4K UHD” trust me it’s a SUPER good deal for what you are getting and works amazing with the PS5

Do you think a 24 inch 1080p monitor is a good idea? How pixelated does it look? I know 1440p and 4k at 27 look great, but have never played on a 24 inch 1080p 144hz monitor.

Thanks for the feedback! I haven't personally used the 27GN880-B but the specs look like they match the 27GL850-B with the only difference being the very handy ergonomic mounting arm. I've looked high and low and the GN880--B isn't available in Canada, we only have the QN880-B which has a refresh rate of 75Hz.
ASUS is making a 43" gaming monitor that comes out in Spring this year. It is HDR 1000, has full hdmi 2.1 features, 144hz, VRR, Low Latency Mode. Looking forward to that!

Plus, although i have the ps5 i think i will play (on ps5) the ps4 version of the game because at least for what i heard so far, it doesnt accept the old controller (like scuf) on the ps5 version of the game.. I'm 99% sure that the GL850-B and GL850 are the exact same monitor. If I'm not mistaken, the B stands for Black since the chassis is black. I also just double checked and I have the GL850-B model so it does downscale.
I didnt even know this downscaling feature exists so that ll be super useful for my ps4 pro but i ll wait before i upgrade coz my PC still waits for a new gpu^^
Noticed you posted this just now. I have the lg 27gn950-b. It work awesome! But I was playing earlier when the monitor turned off on its own and turned back on. It’s new. Month and half of use. Is this normal? It didn’t happen no more
Hey! The 27GN950-B is a beast! I haven’t had mine turn off on me and I’ve had mine since November. If it only happened once then I wouldn’t worry. If it happens often then I would reach out to LG customer support to see if there’s anything they can do.
@@MatthewMora thanks for reaching out. This my first time owning a monitor. Barely got it in last week of November. Never had an issue with anything like that. It just turn off and back on and the rub lighting did the bright lights like when you turn it on. I don’t know if it’s because it got overheated in someway. I have my Xbox Series X next to it. But yea I was just concerned on that if it’s common in monitors overall. I hope it don’t happen no more. I checked the wires and etc. everything was plugged right. Sorry for writing a lot
@@yousif3921 depends on what you're used to like in terms of resolution. For me when I switch over to the 120hz mode in a game then yeah u can notice the resolution drop but u quickly get used to it. I still recommend the monitor tho even aftter having it for 9 months now. However if u do not game on PS5 and you're going for say and Xbox than i would not recommend this monitor. If u wanna know why , lemme know and I'll explain.
I need help choosing a monitor. I'm stuck between the LG 27GL83A-B and the ASUS TUF VG27AQ. They both seem like great monitors but i'm really unsure with which one to get. Please help
I got the BenQ EW3270u as I'm not playing anything fast paced anymore where 120Hz will be necessary I just wanted pure 4K visual fidelity and 60Hz with a good response time and it fills that nicely. My cousin has an IPS Panel and the glow is really bad so I stuck with this VA Monitor instead. The BenQ is great so far for the price, the HDR is pretty weak almost no different but I expected that with a monitor of this price and already did research beforehand.
I bought the msi mag27qrf and it works with the ps5 1080p 120fps. It also has a built in console mode that takes a 4K input and downscales it to 1440p. Games on it look amazing!!!
What should the adaptive Freesync setting be set to, “basic” or “off”? (I’m assuming “off” since the PS5 doesn’t support VRR just yet) In terms of 120fps
1080p ips 24inch 144hz msi optix... Best monitor i could buy in a respectable price as i already have a 4k tv this will be enough and honestly 1080p isn't that bad if the game looks good it will look good at a lower resolution too
Which games do you play on your monitor vs your TV? I was thinking about getting a dedicated 4k TV for gaming and moving my PS5 depending on the game I'm playing but moving things around that often would be a nightmare for me and cable management.
@@MatthewMora my tv is not of the highest quality... So unless i play a sony first party exclusive i play on the Max monitor... Just to check rtx in spiderman I'll hook it upto the tv.. God of war unpatched to see how it looks in 4k60... But the more i use the monitor the less i go back to my tv... Also if games have a 120hz mode it will be 1080p and as the generation goes on they'll work on better over all image quality rather then higher resolution... ...unless I'm quite close to my tv.... Or if there was someway to run a game on my tv and monitor at the same time... I would've have seen more diffrence... But i researched a bit on the monitor and it has a really nice and color accurate and bright pannel... So it looks good... In short I'm more likely to play on my monitor untill a game comes which makes me unplug it and hook it up to the tv.
