With videos like this it’s hard to believe you only have 44 subscribers, I’m sure you’ll get plenty! I’ve been using the Astro A10’s for over 3 years and they are incredibly good for being so cheap (like $30). So I was hoping the mic on the Pulse 3D would be at least close to the quality of it, but the mic tests vary quite a bit. No doubt the sound quality is really good though.
Appreciate the feedback! I can't speak too much on the A10's mic quality but from my experience generally wired headsets have a better mic quality over wireless ones. Also, if it ain't broke don't fix it but if you're looking to get rid of the wire for a reasonable price then the Pulse 3D's aren't a bad option.
Your experience with Ghost of Tsushima isn’t going to be accurate, because the PS4 doesn’t have a system-integrated 3D audio chip. The 3D audio option in that game renders audio with 3D sound sources, but it gets compressed by the PS4’s shitty DAC. So, if it sounds good on PS4, people are in for a real treat on PS5. Apparently Sony tuned the mix frequencies of the headset specifically for PS5’s Tempest Engine; the PS5 lets you choose one of I believe 5 different HRTF presets. Scientifically speaking, if you can choose one fairly close to your own HRTF, it’ll be hard to tell the difference between the game audio and real life. That’s pretty exciting.
Thanks for the heads up! If this is well executed by Sony then it'll be a game changer. This just makes me more excited to get my PS5. The countdown continues...
@@jordangroves9753 The HRTF preset? I imagine it’ll just be in the audio settings of the PS5. Hopefully Sony has implemented an easy and intuitive setup so you can pick the closest matching HRTF for you. Though the best way to do it, and it’ll probably come after launch, is a downloadable audio/music game that actually calculates your *exact* HRTF based on how well you score in the game. So, if you’re scoring low it’ll change any given value and if you’re scoring high it’ll lock that value in, repeating until your entire transfer function is complete.
@@MatthewMora Let me phrase it slightly differently so you’re even more excited. The HRTF unique to each person, is precisely what tells them that sound sources are real and not simulated. So theoretically, if you apply a person’s personal transfer function to simulated audio, that person will *actually feel* like that sound is real. It gives the audio real presence, instead of virtual presence. Best way I can describe it really. We’re all so accustomed to listening to simple stereo audio and virtual surround sound, that even if the presets we choose are a ways off our own HRTFs, I think we’ll be really shocked by how it sounds.
With Tempest audio being a Sony trademark, do you think they'd roll out specific sound profiles for all Sony headphones for better audio quality? Like the WH‑1000X M3 or M4.
Interesting thought. afaik the Tempest engine is built into the PS5 and Sony is working to optimize 3D audio for ALL sound systems and headsets. I hope the legendary WH-1000X M3's and newer M4's will be supported especially with the PS5 having upgraded bluetooth 5.1. Would you happen to have a pair that I could test with when my PS5 comes in? haha
Thanks! The headset has quite a bit of space with the adjustable rubber strap at the top but the cups might be a tight fit if your ears are on the bigger side. I could see it being uncomfortable for some people with bigger ears.
Im about to smash mine, it’s not working. Even when I test the mic it’s sooo muffled it sounds like I’m listen to wind and no one can hear me. Please help me out someone
maybe you can do the test with uncharted or the last of us 2. I have the platinum headset but are these better? because both are supposed to have 3d audio

A very nice video, after 3 weeks, are you using it as your regular headset for ps5? I have doubts about the mic, but in this video it sounds fine, not a spectacular but fine
I dont know why people care so much about the mic honestly. As long as it sound clear idc its not like thats what u hear i buy headsets acording to how the sound im hearing sound i dont judge them on the mic as much as sound quality of games on them
I have to say I find the sound very flat and lacking any base. I am looking forward to your review putting the the Pulse headset against the Arctic 7P. I am a little disappointed in the Pulse and will buy the 7P if they out perform the Pulse in sound on the PS5.

After some more testing (gaming on my PS4) I can say that the 3D audio sounds a better on the Pulse 3D headset. I believe it's more exaggerated on the Pulse 3D over the Hyper X. Keep in mind the Hyper X's weren't designed specifically for the PS4 and the Pulse 3D's are better optimized for Playstations. But the REAL test will be on the PS5 with their Tempest Engine. I'll do a full review when I get my PS5 next week.
@@MatthewMora I'm leaning towards just using a decent pair of headphones for ps5 rather than buying a new headset because there's a mic in the headset already, so I'm interested in how 3d audio works with regular headphones compared to the pulse
I just tested this in a fairly open space with quite a few wireless devices and got up to 30ft before it started to slightly drop connection. It was quick to regain a strong audio signal when I walked in the ~25ft range. I could go roughly 10ft when through a couple of walls/walking up some stairs. You'll hear a 2 beeps when you've fully lost connection and 1 longer beep when it reconnects. This is all while plugged into my PS4 since I'm still waiting for my PS5 preorder to arrive :(
I’m currently on Xbox planning to get ps5 I bought the headset and my friends said the audio is trash is it because I’m on Xbox or the headset may be defective?
From what I've seen, the mic is getting mixed reviews. I personally think it sounds decent for a wireless headset but if you're comparing it to a wired set then you'll be losing some quality. Which headset were you using before?
I had a pair of 2nd gen Astro A50s for my Xbox One a few years ago and wasn't a big fan of them. After a year of use the mic became loose and would never stay in place. It would always be low and far from my mouth making it hard for people to hear me. It's a pricey headset with tons of features and if they improved build quality then it might be worth a look. But for that price I would look the Logitech G Pro X Wireless Headset (check my first impressions video) especially if you plan on using the headset for PC gaming as well! Hope that helps and let me know what you end up grabbing.

I just recently got my PS5 and have been doing some tests between this headset and the Arctis 7p. I'll be posting a video comparing the 2 headsets in the near future and will add a wired mic test in that video so stay tuned. The mic on the Pulse 3D is getting mixed reviews and might be a more of a personal preference or it might even be tailored for a certain type of voice. Either way, I'll post the video when it's all done and hopefully it'll clear up some questions.
Interesting. I recorded this with the USB receiver plugged into my PC and used audacity but didn't make any changes to the audio. I wonder what others are using to record. I'll be posting another video comparing the Pulse 3D headset to the Steelseries Arctis 7p's down the line but I want to use both of them on my PS5 for a longer time to give an accurate review. I'm planning on recording the mic through the PS5 in that video so stay tuned!
Hello can you plug the PlayStation 5 headset adapter in the back of the console instead of the front so I can charge my headset while using the headset
i have seen multiple videos of the mic test and everyone’s is different i don’t know why. some say it’s crystal clear and amazing for the price and some say it’s the worst ever. i have one but can’t use the mic because my ps4 broke and i’m waiting for ps5 launch. anyone know why?
I wonder if the people who don't like the mic are comparing it to a wired headset? I personally think it sounds pretty good for a wireless headset. If you have a laptop or computer then try to plug the USB dongle into it, make sure your mic is set to the wireless headset and fire up sound recorder to do a rough sound test yourself.

The sound with wireless is very bad.Its sounds like a headset from 2007.I have it and i give it back. My old headset (hyperx cloud 2) is much more better than this shit.Trust me
