PS5 Slim: USB External Blu-ray Drives works?! 

Not a stupid test. Thanks for demostrating it for us to see. I have a PS5 with built-in disc reader however I'd like to get an additional disc reader so I can use the internal disc reader (e.g. read game) and an external disc drive for watching videos; instead of swapping the discs all the time, which I find annoying at time. Maybe need to "register" the external drive for it to work with PS5 machine; same idea as with gamepad and other "approved" controllers? I suspect that Sony is gatekeeping access to devices using this security layer.

This new generations of consoles are powerful, but lack basic entertainment features. I just want to watch movies with an external disc drive on my digital ps5. Like wtf? If I want to pay for a disc drive separately, then let me. Seems like nowadays they want to control the consumer and how they buy goods.

Honestly, this experimental is NOT stupid. How can it be stupid when no one has tried and clearly the console said dvd is playable. All in all, Thank you OP

I was wondering if a basic external disc drive would work simultaneously with the "internal" disc drive. Basic thought was that I can keep a bluray movie in the external while having a game in the internal. Guess it wouldn't work. I think running it through regular USB3.0 would cause slower read rates for a game to work as opposed to media. Possibly the same with the C.

How about upscaling DVD to 4K format at ps5 slim? Can take video? I use sony ubp x700 for dvd it is great for me).

Great video and now you did for the PS5 FAT Standard and Digital Versions and now the SLIM Version. All Slim Models need to have Optical Drives registered to the system before they can be used!!!
