The official PlayStation video didn't go into detail about taking the cover off - yours was much better and made me feel more comfortable doing it for the first time. Thank you!
Just got it for $189.00 can't wait but do you need to update it first to get them speeds or does it come updated out of the box I heard you need to update first before installing into ps5 to get them speeds?
@@davidleroy8382 I just bought mine and it came with the latest software I think. I watched some videos and my speed it the speed shown after the update. Besides I don't have a PC to slot this drive into so it's all I'm getting
Had a bit of trouble with the case but never opened before so once that was done this guide really helped and now successfully installed and formatted. Thank you again
thanks for the video!!! Followed the instructions and my read speed is a whopping 6476.96 MB/s !!! One thing to note, I plugged the drive into my PC first before doing all this so that I was able to upgrade the firmware. I read online that if you do that then you could gain better performance from the changes. Anyway i'm pleased with the speeds and read for Elden Ring release this friday!
Great video, made it seem easy. I’ve only had my PS5 for about a month and once I got it I knew I would need more memory. Did my research on the SSD and you made it very simple to install. Thank you for the great vid
Came bk to leave you a review I installed 2tb ssd samsung pro 980 yesterday after watching your video I took the plunge and installed it great video by the way easy to understand many thanks Gayle
Bought the Samsung 980 pro with heatsink with 2 TB. Thought about 1 TB, but decided to get a larger storage. You will not regret it. Easy to install in my PS5. Prefer it to the external hard drive.
@@xouzourisgr I mean that’s what I’ve read and seen on RU-vid, but I don’t have a pc that’s why I wanted to know if it works well without updating it. If u can update the firmware I think that would be better
@@xnonsz_4865 I don't have a pc either so I just installed it to my console. I got reading speeds up to 6.515MB/s and writing speeds up to 4.800MB/s So I think it works fine even without the up date!
Make sure when installing you do it just like he did. Don’t leave it against the console and try to push forward cuz it will break your stick by applying too much pressure or maybe even your console. If you feel for the opening a little bit up and let it slide in you’ll be all good.
Thank You a lot. I got scared for moment because it wouldn't stay flat until I screw it and stayed flat. I was praying for it to work because I don't like to open up things, but it is working for me. 🙌🏻🙌🏻
My wife had some online credit and best buy had a online sale where the 2TB 980 pro was 160 online but 300 in store. We used online credit and ordered it to pick up at local store that hours ago tried to charge me 300 where I ended up paying 25 bucks and change. Sweet
It's easier to have the PS5 facing the opposite direction, with the fan to your left, because the cover plate slides off easier when applying pressure from the upper left corner towards yourself. Also, the SSD expansion port will be right there at the bottom close to you.
thank u very much for the video, it was very well informative especially the grounding part, no other videos about installing an ssd to a ps5 have that and it was very helpful.
Incredible instructions, I just couldn't remove the smaller screw. I just installed it & put the cover back on, hopefully home depot has the screw set/ size I'll just buy another set......
FireCuda 530 for me. Im a hoarder and I keep all my consoles. Pretty sure this drive will out live everything else. Plus the temps are crazy vs Sam and WD offering. EKWB sure know their stuff in regards to cooling.
There is a comparison video on RU-vid. They both seem close but the 980 does some things faster but the firecuda also does some things faster. I don’t think they ever compared temps in that video but I think they are both extremely close. There is also a sea gate m2 which is a firecuda optimized specially for ps5.
I did almost everything right EXCEPT The screw that adjusts the ssd LOL But everything is working fine with the SSD. Plus I don't plan to move the PS5 so it won't be all over the place.
Do you mean the spacer or screw? If you mean the spacer, I think it might help with heat dissipation over time due to the small gap it would create between the ssd and motherboard. I’m not 100% sure though.
Every reddit I have read you should put thermal pads on this even if it has a heatsink built in. Because the back is raw up against the motherboard itself. I did. Just a thought. 🤔
@@TomasVillegas The hardest part was getting the lid back on to hear that "click" - but I rewinded your video several times and didn't use too much force and after I think the 10th try I heard that click. :)
The newer versions of the PS5 s are a bit different to these ones. . Getting the spacer in is a bit of a struggle as they don’t fit in the hole just sit on top and getting it still and putting the small screw in is a bit fiddly. Managed it in the end.
Does anyone tried to update the firmware of this SSD with a heatsink? There are some reviews that It needs to be updated before putting to PS5 to met maximum the writing and reading speed. But the issue is I think I should not remove the original heatsink due to warranty.
The video was very useful but my ssd screw with spacer stripped so I had to buy a new one on Amazon no biggie just take you time and slowly removing it mind was factory tight.
