PSA GRADING HAS CHANGED FOREVER IN 2024!
Big changes have arrived at PSA for Pokemon card collectors. After the pandemic shutdown in 2021, PSA has worked strategically to upgrade their physical and digital infrastructure and bring Pokemon card grading into the 21st century. They've expanded their physical locations, lowered prices, redesigned their online submission center, created a mobile app, issued registry awards, implemented card scanning, introduced a new TCG magazine, and much more. With all of these changes, it's clear why PSA is the leading grading company for cards and collectibles.
Thanks for watching,

Glossed over the fact PSA is adding surcharges to final grades based on estimated market value.

Realistically this is fair on PSA’s behalf, I’ve submitted 1000 cards in 2023 and about 200 over the declared value. They up-charged me for maybe 4 of them

Awesome and informative video! Thank you! I’m a bit psa fan and have submitted a ton of cards. Nice to see some positive changes. I don’t know how I feel about the New Jersey office though. My last submission went there and it feels like they were more harsh than the CA office but time will tell.

Yea you aren't very critical of PSA, until they damage your cards in 2 submissions back to back. $1,500 worth of cards and do nothing about the $1,200 one. Then it makes you a little more critical..

I can't grade expensive high end cards with PSA they demand too high of a premium. Flat rate grading is the no brainer for a collector... Grading with PSA basically forces the sale of the card just to afford the cost of grading.

Id love to send some cards in but the prices they charge are outrageous. It should be a flat rate for all cards.
@pokemon_classics
@pokemon_classics 3 месяца назад
A flat rate would make the cost of most cards more expensive, since higher insurance costs would have to be evenly distributed into the flat rate. Back in the mid 2010’s the bulk rate was about $10-12, so the $15 price point seems reasonable given the rising costs of materials, infrastructure, staffing, and insurance. I do miss the days of $8 bulk grading coupons though.

I agree with saying that positive change should be acknowledged - but only to a certain extent. If there is a new grading company that does everything better than PSA, people will still grade with PSA. Which shows that PSA doesn't need to do much in order to keep their customers. And thats exactly what they do. They give you just about enough change to make people stay with them. In reality they are very well aware of their issues that they could address and fix but that costs money and if they don't loose customers by not fixing it, they won't do it. Business remains business and effort will be kept to a minimum if it is not neccessary for keeping the customers. It sure is okay to prefer the big dog in the business but at the same time we should be just as critical with our favourite than we are with every other competitor. I f.ex. live in Germany and people here also obviously prefer PSA for the classic reasons. But there is no reason for that. Atleast for german cards cause the market for that is very limited. We have a lot of grading companies in europe nowadays and there are some that deliver on par or better performance than PSA (Gold Standard Grading and Absolute Objective Grading to give some examples). Well and for english/japanese cards it's obvious that the international market is the reason why PSA is preferred. Same goes for the US. You don't grade with SGC if you plan on selling internationally. I have never seen a SGC slab on the german market. And I also rarely see BGS slabs. All in all the reason for PSA being the top dog is reputation and age of the company not performance.

I've yet to see anyone mention Rudy's grading service, PCG it's like youtbers intentionally act like it don't exist, I understand it's probably not the biggest service , but it does exist....any updates on PCG? I know not everyone likes rudy of alpha investments , but there is no doubt he is one of the biggest card enthusiasts on this planet ( dude has warehouse full of basically every card game that has ever existed) It would be interesting to see someone who actually LOVES the cards do well in this industry as I'm sure most the top companies are just running a business and don't care about cards at all PSA just seems too much like the big brother of card board

Anyone ever scene a 1990 Fleer Michael Jordan #26 with him wearing an orange colored uniform??! Its got a PSA 8 grade too, so its authentic! The card has to be the rarest Jordan card ever!!! I also have 4 with the regulsr Bulls red uniform but they all have no lines on the back and one is the standard size but has a lighter shade of ink printing, and the other three are smaller with dark ink printing on their backs, clearly these are unknown variants of the 1990 Fleer Jordan #26 card. I have already notified psa with actual photos and asked them to include this stuff in their magazine for collectors. I know alot of people view here so if youd like to buy these cards reach out to me, youd better have deep pockets, especially for the one in which he's wearing an orange Bulls uniform, im not selling it for less than a million dollars because it may be the only one on the planet! Its not a novelty card, its the real deal and graded 8 by PSA! I also have an ungraded 1961 Fleer Wilt Chamberlain "Rookie In Action" card #47, pristine white borders, definitely will grade at least an 8, its for sell too. But heres the really rare item, the "6 Day Race" program from the January 1957 six day experimental race held at the now defunct world famous Cleveland Arena, the world's greatest cyclist participated, this race changed everything about cycling, even the June 1957 Billboard Magazine carried a huge article about it, i have the only copy in the world now, and most of the riders signed their name by their picture and biography!!! This is the type of item that someone like Lance Armstrong would add to their collection, or some billionaire Arab or Bill Gates. I collect and sell extremely rare and high end memorabilia, so if youve got deep pockets and want the best collectibles hit me up! Oh, i almost forgot, i also have the rare Ray Allen rookie error cards for sell! I also have a lot of comics, hot wheels, books, and the all evil elusive "Devil's Money"(printed with the 666 Mark of the Beast), its real, not a novelty item, its normal U.S.Currency that i received from banks and stores, i have it in all denominations, perhaps you have a church and want it to show your members that its happening, perhaps youre athiest and want it for a conversation piece at parties, or maybe youre a political anarchist that wants it to ask your elected officials why theyre printing money for Satan, whatevwr your reason, God has made his truth available to you through me.

With PSA you get a solid, but not particularly attractive slab (I like CGC’s aesthetic better), access to the set registry, access to sales data and population reports, a monthly TCG magazine subscription, a vault storage/sales option, and the highest resale value. PSA is often slower than it’s competition and runs into consistency issues and damage at times, but that’s inevitable with human graders and the volume that they handle. It’s not an excuse, but it’s also not exclusive to PSA.

Yeah, PSA is trash. Only good if you want easy 10s that don't mean anything. They unfairly give preference to whales that send in a lot of submissions. Not all grading services have the issue of human error, AGS has been getting into the TCG space lately and they're easily the most objective, accurate service out there rn. You start out by talking about the volume they have to process but it doesn't seem like you've considered what that means for time spent on each card, it's not a lot. Also, everyone knows PSA does pop. control, so again, their grading isn't reliable. If you've been a PSA patron for so long, you know that if you send a previously graded card into PSA, there's a solid chance you'll get a different grade back, they're not consistent. And what's the state of PSA signature authentication over the last year? It's been laughable. Or recently, them giving high grades to trimmed cards? I don't get how constant problems can be "exceptions to the rule" when it's clearly just how they operate- poorly. & BGS isn't much better with the whistle blower interview that came out recently. The state of grading is abhorrent & you couldn't pay me to trust any of the big boys with cards I like. I get why resellers go through them, they want the easy 10... But anyone that's a collector and cares about the actual condition of their cards isn't gonna use that dumpster fire of a company.
