The O-Pee-Chee Griffey got a “6” because PSA grading consistency is ridiculous, and that company better get their sh#@ together. I hope more collectors start using SGC, or maybe CGS instead of this absurd PSA grading. It’s up to us in the collecting world to force PSA to hire, or fire these suspect graders.
Interesting grades. Thanks for sharing. I always thought it would be interesting for resubmission option at PSA. You send them the graded card - they Crack and regrade. If the grade is 2 points different they pay for the grading, if not you pay.
I stopped sending PSA my 90's cards because of this reason. I think I will submit if the card is either worth it or they go back down to 10 bucks a card. I cannot justify paying the current amount and get hit with 6 thru 9. grades.
It’s prob just the light in your room, but the white border around the Griffey 6 seems a lil darker than the 9. In the upper right corner looks like. But I don’t see a 3 point dif either.
@@GFTCNJ thx. I'll check that. I do the videos in my basement, the lighting sucks. I was too pouty after that reveal to give them a really good examination. That griffey will definitely get cracked out, just so I can give it a really good look for whatever they saw. As is, it serves no purpose in a slab with that grade. Might as well crack it out and learn from it. Thx for watching.
The Ken Griffey card that got a PSA 6 is out of register ( or out of focus ) and also the centering is slightly off to the right. The main reason it got a PSA 6 is primarily due to the card being out of register. Look at the outline of his body on your left (Griffey's right) and you can see the line of fuzziness all the way up his body outline which is caused when a card is out of register. Everyone thinks corners, edges, centering and surface are the only factors in grading. Not true. You have to take into account register (aka focus) and coloring (Are the colors vivid and bright). Hope this helps. Cheers and happy collecting!
Hmmmm, I'll definitely have to take a good look at that when I get home. Lol. That would actually make me feel better if that's the case. Thx for the comment
Its because PSA doesn't know how to grade Yet people still travel on the psa train, except its ok because its psa. Should have sent them to SGC to start with. Love the cards.
Ya I use a decent magnifying glass 6x and have a 10x loupe. Admittedly there's still stuff that ocationaly you miss. Mostly surface issues that are hidden in foil or a heavy pattern on the card. I have found a couple issues that I'd say warrant the grade given. But most I can't find what they saw.
The first griffey you pulled was more yellow. It looks like it there was more discolloring on that one. Not an expert, but that's the only thing from what i've seen that could make a difference.
that little black dot on the o pee chee premier Griffey is not on every copy ... after this video I went and checked mine because I wanted to see after hearing you say that if mine did or not lol and I have 3 of them and that black dot is not on any of mine
That new stuff...not for me..just put them in sleeves & toploaders ...Frank Thomas I have nice one, might be 92... just be a pc guy....be happy that you have these cards that are over 20 years old, and under rated.....the sport flix low pop... NOW, you didn't get any 93 finest.... I have all refractors , just need Sandberg....all sleeves and top loaders.... you have nice cards...
You overgrade and set your expectations too high…kind of annoying to listen to you cry about it as I am looking at the off centering or a small dinged corner…
