#psalmschallenge week 52: Fourth Sunday of Lent, Year B. Psalm 137: "Let my tongue be silenced if I ever forget You." Set by Rick Modlin, from Spirit and Psalm.
(final week of challenge year one; next week I start challenge year two!)
This one's very intense. Especially for those of us who sing. The Psalmist recognizes that faithfulness to the Lord is most important, even in one of the worst situations ever (as his people were taken away from their homeland and held as captives). He knows that it is the Lord who gave him everything, including his voice.
To show the depth of his commitment to God, he pledges his voice to Him, as a promise that he won't forget the Lord even in the hardest situations.
As someone who uses my voice so regularly and who really pays attention to my voice so I am ready to give my best for the Lord...I think "If I forget you, Lord, take my voice" is one of the most powerful pledges the Psalmist could make.

This is completely unrelated, but it looks like I'm moving even more than I normally do. I really liked how the emotions of the text came out in this recording, though. Maybe channeling the emotions deeply = more moving around ???
