Tom I must say, it truly shows you brought this video together from well over a years worth of content. This speak wonders of how you always want to educate for the hobby and we all love you for it. Thanks again and keep em coming
Hey Tom, I know you said Psalmopoeus were a genus you overlooked for a long time because you weren't as into arboreal species. That made me wonder if you have tipped your toes into Tappies? There aren't very many videos on RU-vid about the genus overall but there is pretty much nothing about the Tapinauchenius rasti which is one of my fav arboreal species. Under the right light its abdomen and legs are lavender purple with a golden carapace, a truly stunning species. Have you ever kept any tappies? If not I highly suggest. They are so fast and fun to feed! Not to mention beautiful! I would love to see a video from you about them one day. Plus, Tapinauchenius care videos are an "untapped" niche on RU-vid. (I couldn't resist 😂)
I love the dual pronunciation throughout the video! Nice way to hedge the bets 😂. Can totally agree with the consensus you put forward regarding Psalmopoeus vs Poecilotheria. My P.irminia (Carole Baskin) is way more twitchy than my P.metallica (Neptune) who's an absolute sweetheart. Amazingly put together video as always and you've again made me question my collection control method of 'one per genus' as I want all of these guys. You've really shown the genus off in a special way 👏
Hey, bud! hahaha I figured that I would head off some comments that way. lol LOVE the name of your irminia! bahahaha And thanks so much! I used to do the one per genus thing myself. Now, I'm collecting a bunch of them. haha It will never end. lol
The only species I have in the genus is the P victori, but she’s a favorite in my collection. Not only is she bold and frequently out she’s also extremely feisty. I’ve received more threat postures from mine than any other tarantula in my collection of 22 mostly old world species.
Hi, Anthony! The P. victori are just so darned cool looking. After I recorded the audio for this video, mine started hanging out in the open more. She's still pretty calm, though. Thanks!
My psalmopoeus reduncus is my most guilty buy. I didn’t need it. I didn’t even know I wanted it till I saw it. I bought one. 😅😢. Under the judgmental stare of a nearly scorpion. It’s very cute. Surprisingly bold for a tiny sling. Also, could you One-Day maybe do a care guide for diving bell spiders? Argyroneta aquatica japonica is the one I have. My spider dealer is lovely and very informative but at the same time, he’s a bit spartan with care😅. And I like to be a bit more… not spartan? 😅 I also really liked the two cardboard transport technique! I am a bit nervous about when the reduncus gets bigger and I have to rehouse. 😅
Hey, Mausami Rai! Ahhhh...do we EVER need them? haha And if I ever get one, I certainly will. I haven't seen them offered around here, though. I'll definitely keep a lookout for one! Thanks!
Awesome video as always Tom! Beautiful tarantulas btw. I still think I am leaning towards the Phormictopus species or the expensive X species. That Darth Maul is up in the air though..... business in the front, party in the back. Crazy! Man I wish I had more room for 10 more full grown tarantulas...... Oh well. Maybe one day. Hoping for a few males seems weird though LOL
Hey, Dusty! Thanks so much! It's funny, as sometimes I hope for males, too, so that I can get some space back. haha Those Darth Mauls are STUNNING. There is just nothing else like them.
This video was very well made, amesome! I must confess that in my 10 years of keeping spiders and more than 20+ species of old world that I've kept, I am most afraid of my irminia! She is a real horror, fast, defensive and unpredictible. You had much luck! ...time to pull her eggsac in 2 days... wish me luck!😆
Ust a follow up on the comment I left below. On my P. victtori it looks like she might have bled out. I have zero idea how it happened. Pulled her enclosure apart looking for anything. Just wanted to add that. Super sucks, she was one O had treasured and was so excited for. I mean a red and black tree spider. Super cool. Have a good day Tom.
What can I say, Tom, I Love your videos. I'm still terrified of my irminia but take care of her. She's getting bigger and keeping the dark colors. I believe these are sexually dimorphic. I do have a problem and still, need your help. Everyone is molting....Everyone, OMG and I'm trying to take good care of my Ts and need to replace the roof on the house. So overwhelmed but things just are what they are and you gotta roll with it all. Love you and Billie, Roane, Sid, and anyone else in the family that I am missing mentioning. I truly love all of you and you raise my blue attitude and teach me so much. If I could only watch one channel on RU-vid, it would be my Morans. Lots and Lots of Love and Tight Hugs, even to the clickers and farters
My lil Sun tiger just molted for the first time. Very excited to see it eating again. Of my slings, it was my biggest eater and then it just stopped. Gonna give it some days and throw it some food. I know it's gonna be back to its hungry self
@@TomsBigSpiders thnx. My pumpkin patch has also molted and my Brazilian black is in pre molt. It's kinda funny, they are growing in order to how you have them listed on your "fastest growing T's". Obviously G. Pulchra isn't on that list but it's my slowest grower, so it still stands true to the list.
@@TomsBigSpiders my irminia sling just molted outta nowhere lastnight. It destroyed food for like 2 or 3 weeks. Refused last weeks meal which I didn't pay that very much attention because it was so huge from previous meals.. looked at it today and it had molted. This was a HUGE growth spurt. The legs are crazy on this thing. My lil 4 month old sling is like 1.5"/1.75". Hard to believe it was just .5" when I got it.
Cant wait getting my victori on Wednesday the 15th, 3/4 to 1 inch can i skip the sling enclosure at that size and put in a juvenile ? Because of their growth rate, i think a 1 inch would need rehousing rather quickly anyway if put in a spice bottle, dram vial?
I got a P pulcher and they’re my spiciest tarantula even as a 2” sling. I unintentionally named her “Bitch” because she was my first escapee. 😂 (gonna rename her eventually) I really appreciate you having so many educational videos because tarantula husbandry is so iffy. You’re always my go-to when I get a new T!
This is probably my favorite tarantula genus for a few reasons. They lack urticating hairs. I love Avics but handling, rehousing or any maintenance I do I always get a few itchy bumps on my skin. With Psalmopoeus? Nope. The personality varies by individual some are more shy and reclusive but overall psalms come out frequently either for a brief period of time or sometimes sit around in the open for a while. They’re really pretty. They have big fizzy legs and gorgeous chevron shapes on their abdomen. The biggest downside is they can be very quick. This is common among some other new world arboreal’s as they don’t have urticating hair or venom strong enough to use as defense they rely on their lightning fast speed. Some are calmer like the P. Pulcher but others will run like Sonic the hedgehog at the slightest distance.
Gorgeous spiders Tom. I was offered a p.erminina as a freebie and after doing some reading I declined. Told the vendor, Tyler of The Spider Shoppe, that I was a beginner and although a beautiful species, didn't think was ready for that kind of speed at this time. I know I will need much more experience before I am ready to get one. The tiny sling I did get though is a n. coloratovillosus. I was expecting about 3/4" but got one 1/4". I find myself trying to find her every day but she blends with the substrate. But this video was perfect since it affirmed my decision to wait. But eventually....lol. BTW mama t.albopilosus is well and at least drinking, and continues to roll that egg sac around her enclosure. Have a good weekend Tom. And stay safe. LB
Hi, Linda! Well, you can't go wrong with an N. coloratovillosus...I love mine! :) There's always time! :) And glad to hear that she's still doing well. How long has it been now?
@@TomsBigSpiders I've only had this really tiny sling for about two weeks. Every two days I put a pre-killed, cut up cricket in her enclosure. Can't tell if she ate or not though. But the enclosure is moist at one end and she stays mostly in small burrow she keeps covered. My t.albo is still just rolling or hugging her sac. But my g.pulchripes molted today while I was at work. She looks great. I see what you mean about their fresh colors after a molt. My a.calchodes is just trippy and bolts away when I refill her water dish or give a cricket. But boy does she attack that cricket a few moments later! LOL
My favorite genus! The P. Ecclesiasticus was ADORABLE when she was walking around the top of the enclosure. Her legs were just going! I wish I could find one. Haven’t been able to yet but I’m working on getting all the psalmopoeus. Gotta catch em all 🤣 Wonderful and informative as always. I learn something new with just about every video. Thank you for all your work. You’re truly a blessing to the hobby.
Hello, Ivy! Yeah, I LOVE my Psalmopeous species! Have you seen the whole video for the P. eccesiasticus? She went for quite the little walkabout. haha Gotta catch em all, indeed! haha And thank you so very much. :)
Seems like a great genus but I just never got into it, since arboreals take up a lot of space and like you I also targeted pokies first. Maybe one day I'll get into this genus. I really like the Mexican Psalmopoeus, the victori. Irminia is nice too.
you need to see them in person! all of them are really pretty! videos and photos cant get the colours and shimmers they have! i myself have 3 irminias, 3 cambridgeis, a female victorii, pulcher, reduncus and ecclesiasticus.
@@anazolnierczyk5459 i need more space too! 🙈 im currently looking for a bigger place for multiple reasons! first not all of my friends and family are willing to see them when they are around and secondly , the temperture in the room will be more stable. right now they change a lot from 20 to 21 at night and up to 26-27 during the day. so a seperate room with somewhat constant temperature would be nice! also my flat is eeally old and the northern walls get moldy no matter how much i open the windows on top of that i hate my neighbours and they dont like me 😅
@@kv2315 Same reasons for me too, I don't want to come across as a hoarder I just need the space to improve their quality of life. Had to downsize my living space during the pandemic due to finances but I think there's a light at the end of the tunnel :)
Hey, Ana! I was the same way. I was totally into pokies, and I didn't want anything to do with them. Now I love them. If you ever try them out, let me know what you think. The Darth Maul is STUNNING. :) Thanks again!
I need a Tom's Big Spiders tank top. I live in Tank tops year-round. As soon as I can afford to even pay attention lol I will try to order if you have any tanks. Love you endlessly
Got a P. irminia sling as a freebie when I was very much new to the hobby, needless to say I was quite scared at first. Thankfully, your tips on rehousings helped me a lot, and so far everything has gone smoothly ^^
Love this genus, it was worth the wait for the video thanks! :) I am however concerned about my P. reduncus and wondered if you have any advice? He is a juvenile and I have not seen him for 5-6 months (before that he was shy, but I would see him out a bit early morning if I kept my distance from the enclosure). He also doesn't seem to have eaten any of the roaches I put in for the last 3-4 months. He is inside the cork bark at the bottom and has put dirt webbing over it so I can't see in. Last week I took some of the webbing off the top very carefully in the hope that he will move it back again and give me a sign that he's alive, but still no movement. I know tarantulas can disappear for months on end but I wondered if this length of time is normal for this species. I was hoping that if he had moulted he would have started eating again by now :( I always make sure his water dish is full.
Oh no! So, you cleaned away the webbing at the top of the cork and he didn't replace it? That's kind of concerning, as they usually web it back up. Can you see him if you use a flashlight? 5-6 months without eating for 4 seems like a pretty long time for this species. It may be worth it to check on him.
@@TomsBigSpiders Thanks very much for the info! The webbing was more like dirt-curtains so I cleaned some of it away and still couldn't see him with a flashlight as I didn't want to open it up completely. However I have since took the whole cork bark out and found him! He is looking plump and not curled up so I don't think he looks dead, although he didn't respond to a paintbrush poke so I left him alone. I have since spotted new webbing so that is a relief :) Must be just a really long pre-moult? Will send you a pic via facebook to check he looks okay.
Welcome, and thank you so much! I JUST rehoused this girl into a 12 x 12 x 18" exo terra, as she is well over 7" now and I wanted to give her something new. :)
@@TomsBigSpiders Same thing happened to me! I hope we can both get them on the next round. Eresus spider shop said they would be restocking end of the month 🤞 Would love to see you do more vids on the Psalmopoeus if you end up with one of them!
That was exactly the place I was going to order from. I was going to wait until I got them so I could add them to this video. Let's hope they get them back in! Haha
really really nice video! 👌🏻 good thing that you mentioned their speed and their jumping several times! its seriously no joke! thank you for showing the Psalmopoeus genus some love! I feel like they are kind of left out by many even though they all are really pretty and in my opinion better looking than many other tarantulas!
I just picked up a Victori and a rufilata today. Theme of the day... red. @Tom Moran Do you want a O. Marinduque? I just dropped off 250+ T albo eggs with legs to Tanya and I have some credits lol. I'd like to send you one if you want it.
Sigh, damn it Tom I just lost two of my Psalmopoeus slings two weeks apart. The 1st was my irminia and that was very, very, rough. Worst stuck molt I've ever seen. She got one leg out and tried to pop her carapace but it was pretty bad. I had to freeze her. I just couldn't squish. Every time I looked in her eyes it was like a puppy. I've put down animals before but never a pet. Then tonight I went to feed and water everyone and found my victtori unresponsive behind a piece of spider wood. Her abdomen looked shrunk but I'm sure she ate. The crickets dissappeared. Both had water dishes and moist substrate. I have no idea what happened. They were both 1 inch slings. I grew my pulcher up from that size, she's a juvenile now and doing great. Startled her and got my 1st threat posture. It was adorable and I felt bad because I laughed and it set her off and she gave me a couple slaps. No fang thought. Love t bgg at spider. Her name is Sil after Species. My ecclesiastes sling is doing great too(she's your fault. I saw yours on this video and fell in love.) and she's a tiny sling. Everyone else is doing great so I have no idea what happened. Gonna focus on raising up what I have now. Need to prove to myself I can do it. Damn it Tom why did it have to be my Psalmos. My favorite genus and I've lost two. Anyway sorry for the long post but I needed to get it out. Thank you again for all the great advice on RU-vid and the podcast. I have 3 old worlds because of your old world podcast and I'm loving them, though my rufilata is nuts. Have a great weekend Tom.
Hey, Erik! Man, I'm so very sorry to hear that...that's horrible. I hope that you've been able to get past it a bit. I just lost a couple that I was absolutely shocked about, and I'm still bothered by it. It's like a gut punch when it happens. I'm glad to hear that the rest are doing well. Believe me, I understand how much it can shake your confidence. I've raised up hundreds, and I still freak out whenever I have a mysterious death that I was the one who caused it. :( Hang in there!
Hey Tom just curious how big your victori is now! I have a female that’s about 3.5”. It’d be nice to see these guys get to the 6.5”. Also I’ve forgot to mention a few times. Love the band shirts and hoodies you wear. Haha🤘🏼
i'm sure you hear it constantly, but i have to thank you yet again for the incredible job you do showcasing proper rehousing techniques. i get quite stressed out watching most keepers on here do rehouses because it honestly just seems like they're deliberately doing it badly because they know it'll get stronger reactions out of viewers (and therefore more views overall). i've been desperately wanting a species from this genus for ages but have always been put off by their reputation (especially for speed), but i think this video may go a long way in giving me the confidence to get one of these beauties.
Sorry for the late reply! Thank you so much for getting what I do. My goal is always to demonstrate safe techniques and to show folks that rehousings don't have to be chaotic (like you see on other channels). As for Psalmopoeus, I steered clear of them for quite some time because of their reputation as being fast and high strung. I've kept 8 species of them now, and I've had no issues. Thanks again!
I got my P irminia in November. He (idk the sex) was about an inch maybe a bit under, but he wouldn't burrow. He had a long premolt and molted maybe a month ago. He ate like 5 or so times and is back in premolt! His butt was always black with orange stripes. Right now it looks like my skin color and his butt is so fat it looks like a tick about to explode. So, I'm just waiting for him to moult again. I was worried he didn't eat enough between molts until I saw how big his butt (abdomen) is/was.
Hi, Callie! If you feed them larger meals, smaller specimens can fill up and go into premolt after only a couple feedings. I've had small slings go into premolt after only one really large meal! Hopefully, you get a molt soon!
I have bought 4 of these t all were males my first tarantula spider I have ever bought online back in 2017 ,sun tiger that is, the first male is still living from 2017 ,very cool tarantula
Timely. Picked a P. Irminia about 2 weeks ago. So far, no problem. Rehoused easily and feeding. Sling is a little over 1". Also picked up my first old wotlds, an OBT and an H. Mac. Both bolted during rehouse and had to catch cup them. After the OBT adventure, I decided to do the H. Mac transfer in the bathtub, good thing. Alls well that ends well, both are doing fine and feeding. In about a week, I am expecting a chilobrachys sp. prachuap khiri khan. Fun.
I do have a question, is there such a thing where tarantulas kind of get in sync when going into premolt? Because I only have 10 Ts, and only 2 aren't in premolt. It's not a prob, I just was wondering if that was a thing.
Hey, Callie! I've been asked that quite a few times, and I've definitely experienced something that seems like that in my own collection. I think that it's more that folks tend to feed all of their tarantulas on a similar schedule. As a result, when they are smaller, they tend to go into premolt around the same time. I've found that as mine got older, they fall more out of synch. I hope that helps!
Am I doing something wrong? Or is my specimen just weird AF? My irminia is ALWAYS out. She comes right to the front of the enclosure every time I open the door to the "tarantula closet." I keep her in the same enclosure yours is in, set up pretty much the same way. She'll hide during her molting period, but day to day, she's bold as brass and out on display, constantly busy-bodying. Also, when did your cambridgei darken and start showing the green? Mine is still blonde-brown with orange markings.
Hey, Dan! Nope, you aren't...and I'm jealous! hahaha It seems like people either have really bold ones or really shy ones. It's totally weird. haha Mine started showing more green at around 5-6" mark. Before that, she was more a brownish color. Thanks, bud!
That was a concern at first, even after I washed them all off. However, I've never had any issues. I DID buy some a while back that were giving off a chemical odor, and I did not use them.
Nice video, sir. I, too, am a fan of non-avic arboreals (and avics, too). I love Psalmos, and Pseudoclamoris, so many beautiful species in those genera. My P irminia females all tend to burrow, my males build dirt-curtain hides. P pulcher make interesting terrace-type webbing if kept in round containers almost like spiral staircases. P cambridgei are less architectural, at least in my care so far. Btw, I have several juvenile P cams, LMK if you need a boy for that lovely girl of yours.
Hello, Michael! Thank you very much. Yeah, you really can't go wrong with either general haha. I do remember my P. pulchra doing some interesting webbing back when she was in a 32-oz deli cup. Thanks again!
I would agree that my pokies are calmer than my Psalmopeous specimens. Not sure which one would win in a foot race, but I also keep Heteropoda... So kind of a moot point. All of my Psalmopeous are quite shy, and quick to retreat to a den, but my irminia is especially defensive if harassment continues beyond that point (like when rehousing), and last time she actually slapped, with fangs spread, and I saw a drop of venom on one of the fangs. She wasn't playing. Ultimately though, I find them less intimidating than pokies, because I know the consequences of getting bit are less severe.
I think that's why the Pokies get such a bad rap. They are honestly quite shy, but the POTENTIAL for that nasty bite gets peopel quite nervous. And nothing competes with the speed of a Heteropoda. haha
New to your channel, so informative, thank you ... a total novice with a gbb and red rump in my collection of two... their environments are already much better thanks to your advice... loving your uploads and beautiful spiders ... thanks...
Welcome to the channel, Keith...and thank you for subscribing! Yeah, we try to keep things educational here...it's not about entertainment. :) Thank you for taking the time to comment!
Every one of my spiders are slings. One is entering juvi stage. It's the GBB. Seeing this big beautiful spiders gets me excited while I wait for them to grow. Though I expect, according to my luck, every one of my spiders are male. Lol
Hey tom. I set up my p. victori sling (under 2 inches) in the same fashion as my other new world arboreals. But he is burrowing down at the base of the cork rather than climbing. I've only got a few inches of substrate in there, would you add more to encourage the burrowing? Thanks in advance sir
Fabulous video as always. I have 4 cambridgei slings on their way once the weather is ok! I'm currently "in love" with my C huahinis!! My favourites change almost daily!
Really enjoyed this video! I have tried contacting you thru your website and by email with some husbandry questions. What is the best way to contact you? Also how would you like pix of Ts drinking from bowls sent to you? Love your podcasts too, great content across the board :)
Hello! My email is tomsbigspiders@outlook.com. I sometimes get behind or overwhelmed, so I'm so sorry if I missed something you sent. I AM still getting water dish pics as well. If you email again, try putting RU-vid in the subject! I can then search for it.
I currently only have an irminia but really have fell in love and I wasn't prepared for the growth rate. As for your comment on enclosure, I agree that they can be acceptable (although more work) I feel glass is much better because of light and for these arboreal wall poopers make much easier to clean. You mentioned the light in the cloudy plastic, is that really good? I mean I think of it like windows and lights for a home or business. Windows you will have light come in but very direct and where the light touches the light is, in cloudy is more like commercial lights with the diffusers, it allows light to fill the rooms and not be so intense. I feel if the tarantula has adequate ventilation (to prevent over heating) than direct light would be better. Diffused light may remove shadowed hiding places. Just ideas and things I have thought about before.
Hey, Nathaniel! Yeah, the growth rates for some of the Psalmos is INSANE. As most species of tarantulas are nocturnal, I honestly don't worry too much about the light that gets in. Some folks even keep them in dark closets all day, and they do just fine. Direct light IS great for getting their colors to pop, but that's about it. Still, that's definitely something to think about!
Have a bunch of Psalmopeus, got them as teeny 1/4 inch slings and they're all up to around an inch now, hopefully I'll see some of that rapid growth soon!
So many beauties :) I think the P. reduncus is a bit like a T. albopilosus. Not particularly colourful, but has its subtle beauty to it. Stay safe and thanks for sharing :)
Nice video Tom one of my favorite genius of tarantulas, I seen a couple feeding clips which looked like Cambridgei were they the new slings by chance or older footage?
My adult female P. irminia was out and about a fair bit. I think it might've had something to do with her being in a enclosure that was almost too small due to a big cork round that was placed in the middle. She webbed up and had made it so that a third of the enclosure was her hide, essentially sealing off everything to the right of the cork round. She also had a habit of taking her boluses out by walking to the front of the enclosure with it in her pedipalps, then stretch them out in front of her and then, almost like a reversed trebuchet she'd pull them back under her, still stretched out, and then release and send the boluses flying. It was hilarious.
My Reduncus is the same way shes always out in the open close to her burrow, my irminia is always hidden never comes out lol my Cambridgei's are usually hidden as well, my Pulcher is usually visible too close to the burrow, I need an Ecclesiasticus and a Victori still and I will b done with the Psalmos.
Hey Tom great video on this genus I also have a p irminia I rehoused her recently it went well walked her up and straight in new enclosure no bolting no defensive.since then I haven't seen her like before in the old enclosure.ive got 2 p cambridgei love them.and a p gigas which I've been raising up from a sling and a p pulcha and yes they eat like machines.thanks for sharing.
I also started with a Cambridgei and i was blown away also at the growth rate. i remember when mine molted i think it ate only once after it. refused the next which was odd. but within the next week. it had molted again. 2 molts in a month have you ever heard of such a thing? with only one meal. for refrence it was arund the 2" mark at the time and boosted. to 4.5" fascinating
Yeah, I'm working on a video about the fastest growing species in my collection, and the P. irminia is on it! And when smaller, they can fill up and go into premolt on one big meal. And with the faster growing species, it can be in two months time.
It's funny that you mention that, as I often look for it. I'm always afraid that they are going to see the other spiders and start sizing them up for a meal. haha However, I've never caught any interaction between any of them.
I saw you using a soldering iron on a plastic deli cup in another video. Is it possible to achieve the same result on a round plastic enclosure without using a rotary tool?
Not a dumb question! I used to buy three to increase my chances of getting females. However, after years of getting mostly ladies, I started buying only one. Now, I usually end up with a male. :)
@@TomsBigSpiders Yes exactly. there will be many spiders very quickly otherwise. I usually buy one or two. I have quite a few tree-dwelling vipers too, so the area is limited. I bought 4 spiders last week. 1x Psalmopoeus reduncus, 2x Psalmopoeus Victori and 1x sericopelma sp cordillera. I really like both your videos and podcasts. would have been nice if you did some section on mating.

Thank you Tom ! One of the best videos I've seen in a long , long time . My P cambridgei molted into a mature male a few months ago . (well over six " leg span) Any idea how long he has left ? Definitely getting some more of these in the (hopefully) near future . Thanks again !
@@TomsBigSpiders you certainly did Tom, and you definitely achieved that, thanking you and Billie for all the wonderful videos. The videos have helped me an awful lot since i got into keeping tarantulas although I've always had a love for spiders since i was very young.
Fantastic video Tom. My irminia is my nastiest T, especially now that’s he’s matured. I have 9 pokies and would rather rehouse any of them over my irminia
Having to catch my P. Irminia on my body during a rehouse is not a situation I would recommend. She (hoping) was fine, and I caught her but I definitely was underestimating her speed. Next rehouse is going to be handled quite a bit differently. On a side note, I managed to catch a pic of her blue shine on the underside of her legs! TBH I was a bit surprised you didn't mention it, but maybe mine is just special? She such a lovely, unique spider, I'm quite enthralled by her.
Hello, Loracarol! Yeah, that definitely does NOT sound like fun. haha I'm glad that it ended well. Mine does have it but I didn't think to mention it. Hahaha. Yeah, and irminia and an OBT are quite the handful already! :)
@Tom Moran It really did, I was super lucky, and I've been taking steps to make sure it doesn't happen again. Valid! And yeah, my OBT at least is pretty chill, but I know that that can change with a molt, so I don't want to take my chances lol.
Exceptionally well done video! I just lost my first T and it was my only arboreal. A. avic and I have a feeling of why but not sure. I'm considering getting a Psalmopoeus and was suggested to try getting one of them instead of an Avicularia. I think I'm going to try it. Thanks!
@@TomsBigSpiders Yes! I have already told my husband this is the genus I'm looking for. Not sure which particular T in that genus but that depends on what I can find, what's available...stuff like that. Thanks for all the information you and your wife put out there. It has helped me tremendously.

Thank you, Katiana! Yeah, they are just such awesome spiders with so many diverse looks. I had 2 P. langenbucheri in my cart, and they sold out before I could buy them! :(
Awesome video. I love my Cambridgei & Irminia so much. They made me feel brave enough to get a Poecilotheria Regalis. Isn't the Pulcher just gorgeous xx
i planned to have my first tarantula next summer. Here in Finland it is very cold and dry in winter, 20% humidity. Is it still easy to keep humidity. I just ordered a book of tarantulas and i have plenty of time to learn more and more and acquire enclosures and stuff. Thanks of these videos. I can't wait :)
Hello, Tonde! If things dry out a bit, you'll want to use deep substrate. This allows for it to hold moisture longer before drying out. As the water evaporates, it will keep things more moist inside the enclosure, even as your home dries out. I hope that helps!
Hard to find em! Currently have: 1.1 Irminia 0.0.1 Cambridgei 0.0.2 Pulcher 0.0.2 Ecclesiasticus Personally I find they're all pretty chill. Cambridgei bold yet gentle. Irminia VERY secretive. Pulcher very bolty. Ecclesiasticus very slap happy at 2"!
P. Victori are so cool. I have 2 juveniles. Can’t wait until they get to the size of your beautiful girl. You should definitely do this same type of video, but with pokies!
I definitely didn't do my due diligence when I first got in the hobby, and bought a P irminia as a 2i sling as my 5th tarantula! I think it helped me to start with such a small one to gradually get used to the speed and skittish nature. Only hafter I had rehoused it a few times did I learn they didn't have urticating hairs and likely have potent venom!! Lol. Very thankful I was always cautious and didn't learn through experience.
hey Tom lovin the pod cast also just want to say The Exotic Pet Collective is kinda doggin you and its over you standing up for are hobby and i thot you did it neutral and respectable like always and i thank you for your hard work.
Hey, TJ! Yeah, I'm not sure what his gambit was (he's obviously a little sore with me) but that was NOT the spot to try something like that. We now have folks who think that breaking the law is a gray area or no big deal. Luckily, the folks who actually listened to my podcast (where I never named the guy and his business, nor did I call for him to be canceled) have backed me 100%. And, we essentially got a 2 hour podcast with the guy publicly admitting that he broke the law. The TC has some gorgeous videos, but stuff like this just exposes that he is not doing this for the hobby...he's building a brand and making money. They can say what they want, but at the end of the day I can sleep better I knowing that I'm only making this stuff to help people out (not to sell my latest branded product). THANK YOU for your support...I truly appreciate it. It's comments that these that have made it very easy to shrug off this bizarre attempt to make me look bad. 😆
@@TomsBigSpiders what's funny is i left a comment in the past on his page and he made fun of you alittle and i wondered if he had beef with you and then the second he seen an opening he attacks you on a issue of a guy about to destroy are hobby with fish and wild life. And sides with him calling all his viewers "tarantula mafia" the guy didn't apologize one time in fact he admits he had bad biz deals in the past and alot of enemys hes most likely burned and the best part is i would of never knew who this guy was becuase you never mentioned a name but The Exotic Pet Collective went and made this all public on his TMZ report video about a criminal dealer lying and braking the law lets feel sorry for him "ME TOO" lol you must feel like your living in the twilight zone you hate drama.
