Excellent build. I have fired the 25 pounder numerous times as I was part of the 105Regt. Royal Artillery 21 gun saluting team at Edinburgh Castle. I am planning to build a diorama of our saluting team performing the salute at the castle. Some useful tips here thank you.
Iv got it in 1.35 its beautiful once done in British sand counter colour and light dusting! The 25 pounder has alot of detail much more than the tractor bit got it looking great! Really does come out a nice model!
Good build of the Morris tractor. You should add the figures to the next one...more interesting than just the transport mode. Curious to see it Panted. Bill
Very nice addition for PSC. I really like the PSC gun teams I have for my soviets. They are always good about giving options and their guns always look crisp.
I supported the kickstarter as my friend lent me some of his money to get the basic pledge (we agreed they'd be his) and allow me to use my own money to buy all sorts of 15mm stuff at discount, so we received decals and the metal battery HQ, and everything looked cool straight out of the box. My friend built them and they look fantastic, and we love the CMP tractors. He found it wasn't as nice to assemble compared to the Morris, as his kits didn't join up properly in some corners (think it was the roof and sides, unsure) and so he had to spend extra time modifying it to fit nicely. We have yet to play a game with them, as his table is full of lil' ships from the Pirates CSG, and we've been having difficulty having all 4 players be able to come by his house to finish the massive game. But once we're done, he'll be set with 8 of those guns, prepared to bring Hell to my German forces as we'll continually expand the point sizes of those games.
I backed this on kickstarter but only got them just before Christmas. I've not had an opportunity to build mine yet. I did film a quick in-box review, but I'll build them soon. It was good to see the assembly. I noticed the fit of parts was so tight the gun posts actually broke the trunnions. I might shave mine a bit to avoid this. I am tempted not to build the limbers, which will give me enough wheels to build 8 guns from this box. Interestingly this plastic kit is much more delicate than the Battlefront resin/metal versions, so it will be interesting to see if the Battlefront plastic 25-pdrs will be chunky as well. Good job. Thanks for the preview.
I wonder if the wheels are the same size as those on the PSC 6-pdrs, since there are two spares on every sprue in that kit. That might be a good alternative to cannibalizing the limbers. :)
Great update and review / build Herbert. I like the look of this kit and have built the Airfix 1/72 scale version of this kit and it was very good, if a little fiddly in places. This one looks great too and is very good value for money at the 15mm scale. Many thanks for the video Herbert, are you going to review the Plastic Soldier Company 1/72 version of this kit? Have fun mate, Joe
Hey Herbert, glad you got this after I banged on this in the comments. I built one and went back to 30k. Need to pick it up again and finish the two sets I have. I did back the kickstarter and it's a shame the sextons didn't happen. I expect they will happen this year!
thats a beautiful kit! the axles have what appears to be a little knub on the end that makes it look like the wheels can just clip into place so that the wheels can actually turn, is that the case? if so, that would be a neat addition to this kit! actually, i think the ''knubs'' might have been blobs of glue.. hmmm.. wouldn't be the first time for me to make a mistake like that XD
PSC have done their homework and must have listened to your little moan, lol. Roof defect has been taken care of. The windscreen and all windows are now a frame, so acetate can be added to emmulate glass. Obviously some major re-tooling. I have virtually the complete range now which I guess has expanded from when you shot this vid.
Looks like a fun kit to build and should look good in-game. I notice you drill out gun barrels when you think its appropriate, what type of drill is it? Something i can google..as i'd like to acquire one. cheers
I built both PSC and Battle Front. PSC is by far the better deal as you get the truck with the kit and there crew figs are better then BF I used Peter Pig figs with my BF guns.
You used the wrong trail, the straight MKIV that you used was in fact for the early Mk I 18/25pdr conversion, the trail you should have used is the bent one. Honest look at any picture of the 25pdr Mk II onwards.... compare them with the MK1 18/25pdr on the Mk IVP trail, (there were two version, depending on the version of 18pdr that was converted.)
Can you do a video of plucking the hairs from your thumb? I just have this urge to remove them whenever I see them. Or for you you to remove them. I know this will come across as creepy but please consider my point of view.
