PSG College of Arts and Science was established in 1947 as an autonomous educational institute. Earlier the college was affiliated to Madras University and later in 1978, the affiliation was transferred to Bharathiar University. In October 2004, the UGC identified this college as a College with Potential for Excellence. The college has been accredited by the NAAC with an “A” Grade. . It also has been ranked 25 out of 200 Top Colleges in India by NIRF in 2020.
The college offers 40 undergraduate and 26 postgraduate courses under 41 departments, apart from doctorate and PG diploma programmes.
This college has a library with 1.20 lakh volumes of different books and a seating capacity of about 400 readers. The college also provides Wi-Fi facility as well as labs for deep learning and practical knowledge. It includes a sports complex, which has facilities like badminton court, basketball court, and volleyball court. The college has separate hostels for men and women. In total there are eight girls and two boys hostels of different types from which students can choose according to their needs and budget.
According to PSG College of Arts and Science NIRF report 2022, a total of 930 students were placed out of 3,046 students during PSG College of Arts and Science UG Placements 2021. Further, the median package offered during PSGCAS UG placements 2021. Apart from this, 331 students were placed out of 870 students during PSG College of Arts and Science PG (2-year) placements 2021. The median package offered during PSG Arts and Science College PG (2-year) placements 2021 was INR 2.59 LPA.
Earlier, more than 170 companies visited the campus and over 1,700 offers were made during PSG College of Arts & Science placements 2020. In addition, the highest package offered during PSGCAS placements 2020 was INR 10 LPA.
