Here is a case study on the May 11th, 2024 tornadoes in southwest PA and western MD.
Correction: I make somewhat contradicting statements regarding the level of instability during this event. The overall CAPE was extremely low, however the 0-3km CAPE was very high. Cold-core events can rapidly destabilize the atmosphere, especially at lower levels. This allows for low-level spin to be efficiently stretched into the vertical.
