PSVR 2 - Why your PS5 NEEDS this! 😍 

What do you guys think about the PSVR 2, now that Sony has revealed everything about it (aside from release date & price)?

Just the fact that we’re getting controllers in the box with this is already a much better deal than the PSVR 1

The designer explained the vents on the PSVR2. They are there because some people had the lances or their glasses fogged up during gaming. These slits are there to prevent that.

Sony addressed the vents in their blog release. The primary function isn't for cooling internal components within the PSVR2 headset, but rather to allow for airflow to keep the lenses from fogging up (which was an issue with the original headset).

PSVR2 is on my list. I believe it will astonish the VR community and maybe win some over who didn't consider VR before.

The only issue I have comes by way of the cable. With so much cable length and movement, any damage to the cable would mean the entire headset is considered "broke." They should design ports into the helmet to allow replaceable/swappable cables in the event one is damaged.

I was really impressed when I tried the original psvr cuz I thought the lower resolution would look horrible but it actually didn’t. I’m excited to be even more impressed by PSVR2

I bought the Oculus Quest 2 about a month ago and returned it in 1 week. I was not impressed by the graphics and the fact that you had to be on Facebook to use it. Sony makes a lot of great products and I would love to try out psvr2, maybe ps5's will be more available for purchase by the time the new vr comes out.

I have been waiting for something like this since the first VR hit market. I didn't feel the first gen VR was good enough and I knew second gen is likely to satisfy my wishes about what a good VR should be. I'm glad to see that PSVR 2 doesn't disappoint.

The vents are so the screen doesn’t fog up

The 'button' underneath the headset looks like a vent for air-in. The vent at the top is obviously air-out of course. The main compute unit is the PS5, the PS Blog post clearly stated that the vents were just to prevent any fogging for certain individuals.

I have two PSVR units currently (1 on PS4 Pro/1 on PS5) and I recently picked up a Meta Quest 2. The Quest 2 is a nice little toy but lacking in so many ways. I really need to get a PSVR2 for serious games.

I have money put aside for its release. Hopefully there will be plenty.

The psvr2 is basically a cheaper version of the valve index, the only thing is that valve had more Fov, I my opinion if you have a pet then you should buy it, especially since the quest 2 doesn't have data privacy and Facebook will lock your account if your below 13 😞

It will probably be a must buy for me. I love my Quest 2 but AAA games are few and far between on it, even when using it with my Gaming PC. I will miss the freedom of no wires but it's something I can live with if Sony provides a strong lineup of beefy AAA games.

Ive never had a problem with the suction being too strong

Will definitely pick it up if it's in the ~$500-600 price range or below and is well put together.

Regarding the vents, I think that is for the "suction type seal" you mentioned for the eyes, so it will not technically suck your eye out since it's ventilated. Just a thought though

Dude, Sony literally said the vents was for anti fogging. Also, you can play VR sitting down, so you don’t need that much room. Yes, it’s better to have some space, and a few games you need it. But that shouldn’t stop anyone from getting it.

I love seated games simply because of the space and comfort reasons. I find myself playing more VR when I play Room Scale less often.

I already have the first PSVR, actively use it, and will be getting the new one The vents are to prevent fogging And many people don't like the cable, but I like it because it will be USB-C, which will give it the fastest data transfer rate in the entire VR market

You probably won’t be able to actually buy one for like another 3 years but then I will actually definitely buy one. Had the first one with my PS4 Pro already

They already said the psvr2 headset will have haptic feedback

Now if you can start talking up the value in a broad strategic alliance between Sony and Apple since they both proselytize the performance benefits of vertical integration that can supercharge SSD storage in their systems and they likely have made similar OS level design/architecture decisions. Playstation games on Macs and possibly Sony acquiring Vaio to run MacOS on x86 chips again and a wider variety of GPUs would be HUGE.

As an Australian, most of us are still waiting to get our hands on a PS5.. so no idea how long it would take to get the VR2.

The Psvr 2 itself may not need cooling, but you do. Vents are most likely to prevent fogging. Which was a problem.

I seriously lived in psvr 1 after work back in the day. I am so excited to buy psvr 2 that I can't even find the words

I have PSVR1 and I am hopefully going to get PSVR2 day one, but since I had to struggle to get a PS5 (much less than most, I had it the first week of December) I’m concerned it will be difficult to obtain a PSVR2. I’ll get it ASAP, smoother frame rates and haptic should alleviate some of the motion sickness I got on a few games.

You managed to get a lot of information from just looking at the physical characteristics of the headset - well done ! Only thing for me is firstly having to buy a ps5 as well and even though the fov will be slightly increased will still be small (110 degrees ) so still google view but wondering though if looking at the padding on the headset if it could be modded and a reduced facepad implemented like I could do on my vive or the quest then 120 or above fov would certainly sway my decision . I wouldn’t buy a quest due to the low fov and graphics as well but if the quest 3 has a lot larger fov then I would be buying that as it’s much cheaper as it won’t necessarily have to be tethered to a pc/console and hopefully the mobile graphics will be a lot better this time . Only time will tell if course. Another disadvantage of the psvr 2 is am guessing the games are going to be min £50-60 upwards . So if I ever do decide to buy will wait a few years for the prices to come down and see what consumers think and see what over headsets come on the market . Either way it’s going to be definitely more popular than the first . Cheers

Already have the PSVR and love it. And definitely getting the VR2 just waiting for that preorder to drop. Also super excited for Firewall Ultra, that game was rewally fun already can't wait to see how they take advantage of it now. I was actually hoping that Elite dangerous would also update it for VR2 but now Elite has all but abandoned console players I 'll be copying my account to PC. So now I'm crossing my fingers that the VR2 can ALSO connect to my PC. If not oh well I'll still be very happy with it.

I have PSVR , never had an issue with light leak , you can tighten it up and have it sit perfectly , but then its not comfortable of coure , tends to fog up and heat up , but its just how it is , on any set and any setup , will be so with PSVR 2 as well .

The first PSVR also had the external box which had a fan of it’s own. So yeah…

The rubber seal around the eyes doesn't cause suction that hurts the eyes, its doesnt create a vaccum like diving goggles

I would not think it would actually have much suction unless the whole thing is air tight. And if that is true, to keep it low would be to NOT push too tight to your face. PS. I have been a firefighter wearing a pressurized make and a RT and worn a negative air headpiece. You can't obtain much suction with your mouth open. Maybe some ear popping

I really want to finally experience vr for the first time and I‘m waiting for the psvr 2. I‘m lucky to have a ps5 but unluckily my room is VERY small… Is it possible to use and enjoy vr while sitting on the bed or do I really have to stand up and move around like a maniac? 😅 I hope somebody here can enlighten me. Nice video. One thing I wanted to comment on was the point near the end where you said that the PSVR2 would be good for people who own the PSVR1 and want to play their games at a higher resolution. No backwards compatibility has been announced as far as I know, and it might be difficult to make some games that are designed for the PS4 and 3 accessories to work with the new system, but I would love to be proven wrong.

I also just hope that Gods of War Ratchet & Clank and LittleBigPlanet gets VR mode This Time by the time that headset actually gets itself ready. Cuz I like to be behind the eyes of those characters obviously or either that the Avatar like optional depending on the game to be behind the eyes on as well to be students of the heroes.

Interesting that you emphasized that psvr requires a lot of room, and then immediately followed with RE7, NMS and Hitman, all three of which require very little space. I'd wager a guess most people play them sitting

i actually just bought the PSVR1 a week ago even though i knew this bad boy was coming this year. they just havent said anything about backwards compatibility so i figured id buy the first iteration since i just seen it sitting on the shelf at best buy. i always wanted to replay re7 but in VR, and a good amount of other games i hear was really good too.

I'm very interested to buy one but my only concern is playing space. I game in my small "store like" room since having a 2 years old toddler is a big no to game at living room due because you know, he might just smash my ps5 as if it's his plastic toy car 😅

I have the oculas 1 and 2, the 1 was a far better quality build. I got a ps5 after so quite interested in the psvr2, never tried the psvr1. Looking forward to the reviews.

I had the PSVR1 and used it almost exclusively for Beat Saber (and some Playroom VR stuff ^^) but the twas really cool. I'll give PSVR2 a try but wished it was wireless. Only Concern I have are - again - my glasses, but we'll see how they fit this time...

I've been trying to get a ps5 but can't because of how the third party. Sales like Amazon are over price, and best buy and GameStop always sold out. Sony needs to put people on a list so they can buy a ps5 & psvr2

PSVR2 is actually lighter than the PSVR1 by about 600 grams

May or june is way to soon. And they already said in the blog post when the final form factor was revealed, that the vents are there to prevent lens fogging. And I would bet that there is not going to be a black sku. Does not matter that they showed black controllers a while back.
