I wanted to share about my cardiac catheter ablation for PSVT episodes. My episodes began occurring in 2010, and I had the ablation in 2017. Episodes typically were around 180 bpm, usually lasted less than 5 minutes, and occurred 1-2 times a week.

Thank you for sharing Sarah! I am having my ablation tomorrow and watching videos of others share their experience has been the most helpful in keeping my anxiety down so far.

Thank you. You just unknowingly helped me make my decision on getting oblation. I was scared until I heard your details. I am going to do it. People do not realize how they effect other's lives.

I'm over 58 years old, have WPW and COPD (breathing problems when exerting, but ok sitting still), and was having extremely scary (DAILY!) *SVT? or VT? attacks of 200+ BPM last from 30 min to 5 hours* , most around 2 hours or so, and had gotten this bad in the last 2 or 3 years, before that these would happen MAYBE 1 or 2 times a year! OK, had the catheter ablation done, and am on meds. The ablation was done about 3 weeks ago give or take a few days, and went fine! I was amazed at how easy it went, for me, go to sleep, wake up, then spend a few more hours TRYING not to move (THE hardest part! LOL). I went home about 30 hrs later. (for the record, *there is much more to my story* , but I want to mention, that I was on meds before the ablation too) Well, the SVT/VT attacks are back (I've had 2 or 3 that lasted more than a few minutes, up to 3 hours in one case) , BUT not near as bad as before, and stress and COFFEE seem to be part of the trigger? The DR says no (coffee trigger), it shouldn't be happening at all, you will need another ablation! The post ablation events have not gone over 150 BPM and I never came close to passing out like before. Not sure if this is because of the ablation procedure, or the meds, or both. I'm taking METOPROLOL 25MG (1/2 pill twice daily). *_I just want to help here, and share MY facts, so as to help people look at a few examples here, I know you are scared!_* Relax, and like one DR told, remember one thing, "It's YOUR life!" let your conscious be your guide! (That DR was in a clinic, before I went to the hospital, but he convinced me to *GET HELP NOW!* ) P.S. I think EVERYONE concerned with their heart should get a finger oximeter!!! They are only $10-$15, and can help you understand YOUR situation a little better! Most of these meters have THREE things watch, your O2, your BPM, and the strength of your heart beat, and even a little ecg pattern, GET ONE folks! Keep in mind, the readings you observe are not going to be perfect, BUT you can understand them better by KNOWING your meter, and YOU! PLay with it, experiment, take readings for reference, like sitting still, and then again after taking the trash out, etc, seriously! After a bit, you will maximize your USE of this meter in YOUR environment! :) ...

Thank you for sharing. I had a catheter ablation for Afib on October 24th 2018. It also went well and seems like it worked. 😀

I was on the catheter ablation in 2015. It was successful as far as it was. The operation lasted almost 4 hours, and it was very painful. I asked them to give me some pain relief. After the procedure, I felt very good, but AFIB appeared at 3 to 4 weeks with short attacks of the fasting creature. Cardiologists have decided that another intervention is needed. On Monday, 04.02.2018, I go to the hospital for a re-cardiac ablation of the heart.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I was just diagnosed with PSVT, after 3 decades of not knowing what it was. It has just gotten worse over the years and I passed out a few months ago with no warning. This will help me in my decision, as I think the ablation will probably be in my future.

Thanks so much! Seeing a cardiologist in June about this procedure. I am CRAZY nervous for it!! So much so that I’m researching it months in advance. But this PSVT is really uncomfortable and it’s ruining my quality of life

I had mine done 5 years ago. I had suffered prom psvt for 30 years. I even considered suicide because my life with it was horrible. Every second day was rushed to ER. Now it's fine without that crap psvt. I had more pills than food in my life 😁

When you say you used to get a 'drop' before the tachycardia episodes, do you mean a skipped beat/palpitation?
@sarahv8176
@sarahv8176 5 лет назад
Hmm, probably! It felt like a quick drop in rate, or perhaps it was a skipped beat. I'm not sure what it actually was.

I know the feeling she’s talking about Mine feels like a my heart stops and drops into my stomach and then the SVT would start

I have some type of arrhythmia, still in the process of trying to “catch” it but my dr thinks it may be a psvt. Mine usually lasts only a few seconds but my last run lasted over 10 minutes, the longest it’s ever done. I’m wondering what psvt feels like for those who have it confirmed. My arrhythmia always starts with a flip flop palpitation but instead of just being a single palp, the flip flops keep going, it definitely doesn’t feel like a regular rhythm, it more feels like a fish flopping around in my chest. I’ve heard people describe Afib as feeling that way but not psvt. Anyone get psvt that feels like their heart is flip flopping around? Mine does start and stop suddenly like flipping a switch on and off and only happens fairly rarely.
@sarahv8176
@sarahv8176 5 лет назад
Hmm. I distinctly remember a flip flop at the beginning, but then it was super fast beats. Have you tried taking your pulse when they happen? Have you done the month long Holter monitor? That's what eventually caught mine. Good luck!
