I played Defcon 5 years back on my ps1, figuring out how to get the self-destruct wasn't easy, getting lost in the service tunnels and then comes along the aliens. Defcon 5 is best played at nighttime, you get the feel like in a si-fi movie. It's very important to take good care of this video game disk (not to scratch the surface) since most of the audio warnings are from the "control room" depending on had bad the disk is scratched, can skip alerts or hear nothing from the control room where the aliens are, or when rescue arrives lol
Strangely enough, this game brings back good memories. I remember I was immensely sick when I rented this game. Even though I didn't really like it, I was desperately in need of distraction from my illness. So I played this game non-stop until I figured out a way to beat it in like 5 minutes lol. However, if I try to replicate my efforts today, I fail. Oh well, good times.
How did you know how to program the software adjust? I have looked everywhere for information and have not found anything. To me it seems like you're just punching in random numbers.
It's funny because watching this back (it was so long ago) I actually have it wrong! The status flags at the bottom right should all have 1 in them. If you play around with it to get them all to 1, which is a lot easier than it looks, those turrets work so much better since they'll reload automatically. Game's still broken though with only being able to have 6 enemies at once.
@@ZeroLifex00 Yep! There’s a detailed description of how the system works in the VOS. The 6 enemy limit was actually mentioned in the official DEFCON 5 FAQ, so maybe it’s a design choice. What an unusual, atmospheric game.
@@bladesshredder6663 Playing it without trapping enemies like I did makes the game a lot harder but infinitely more fun. I'd love to see a modern version of this. The concept is brilliant.
