Suga's rap is actually a lot meatier than how it was translated into English, but understandably the people behind the translating decided to go with the 'gist' of what Suga said instead of dealing with the Korean cultural & language references that wouldn't be understood by western reactors

Psy has a sarcastic and ironic take on kpop. Gangnam Style was essentially a jab at how ridiculous the kpop lifestyle is. Coincidentally, people took Gangnam Style at face value, thinking that it represents Korean pop music scene. Nevertheless, Psy’s music is meant to be fun and over the top, so it’s really fascinatingly to see Suga take on a project like this.

The lyrics on MV didn't do Suga's verse justice. Here's another translation: (translated by seoulocello) Hey, did you forget what I do for a living? I have so much love for Psy. He's so cheeky, which always amuses me. Daddy and New Face are two I really like as well. Yoongi will never cease to amaze me with his versatility and ability to not only produce any style, but also rap over any beat. Those vocals too... Just an overall epic collab.

This is pretty spot on PSY sound. Suga kept it as PSY as possible, we can say that. He also admires PSY so much. It's just funny to see him only thinking he is gonna just write and produce the song while PSY slowly but surely draw him in to not just feature but also star and dance in the MV. Love this song so much, great reaction!

Fun fact: Suga made the beat and composed this song with Psy in mind. He texted him about the song and Psy convinced Suga to produce, then feature and dance in this MV! I love how you tried so hard not to laugh or smile too wide! Haha! 😂 This is just a fun song with a fun MV!

Suga has a prSugar has a project to create songs of all genres. BTS - Dance, AUGUST-D: Hip-hop, Suran - R&B, IU - Rock, Psy - Latin - this song is part of Sugar's project. Experts also say that one or two genres are digestible, but SUGA, which digests various genres, is a genius musician.

Some thoughts on possible underlying messages in this mv: This mv ties in with Daechwita. In both mv’s the same style car brought an alternative version of the main artist of the song. In Daechwita it is black haired agust d/suga, which ultimately killed the king/tyrant agust d. For That That it brings Gangnam Style Psy (the blue outfit), which black haired agust d/suga ends up killing as well. Both of the personas that were killed were the ones that overshadowed the actual artist. I found it interesting that new psy didn’t fight Gangnam Style Psy, but agust d/suga that did it for him. Then I remembered that Psy recently said that people in the west only new him for Gangnam Style, some even thinking his name was Gangnam Style (suga raps his, Min Yoongi, and Psy’s, Park Jaesang, real names during his verse). The west had seen him more of a spectacle rather than an artist. I think that he had agust d/suga do it because BTS is becoming a household name in the west and helping have more people see him/kpop as artists/people rather than just a spectacle. So suga kills Gangnam Style to give Psy a ‘rebirth’ as an artist in a way in the west (he has had a long and successful career in Korea). I believe this is why they went for a western theme, because rarely is something placed in a kpop video without reason. When Psy comes back after being killed he’s in an all purple yeehaw outfit. Purple is a color often used to represent BTS/ARMY, so maybe he was giving a little shout out to them? Ultimately, it’s supposed to be a fun dance song, but speculating kpop videos are always a fun time. Psy had gotten to #2 on the Billboard Hot100, but got blocked by a Maroon 5 song. Nearly a decade later BTS became the first Korean artist to get #1 with Dynamite.

This collab is almost too powerful. Suga’s has forever proved his versatility as a producer who can adapt to the strengths and styles of the artist he works with and that he indeed produces hits. He composed the beats and basic song and decided that “hey this sounds like a Psy song” so he literally cold called him and said “hey do you want a song a wrote” and apparently Psy jumped at the opportunity. Psy is someone BTS mentions a lot and really look up to he’s one of the most powerful artists in kpop for 20+ years and started his own company PNation, and has a rep with BigHit for the best treatment/respect for their artists. He’s been exceptionally kind about how he has praised Suga for everything. For Suga works I’d say take a look at some of the earliest songs he ever did for BTS I like Jump and my absolute favorite I listen to almost everyday “Tomorrow”. Also agree with all your thoughts about the pandemic I do hope we learn something from the losses and stresses the last two years as we struggle to emerge into a new world.

Actually this new PSY album is really interesting... This song as single is also great choice, bc it gives people this funny Psy that every one knew from his music but song is soo good that people don't take like meme song like his old stuff...

If someone has already said this I'm sorry, but I just wanted to mention that Psy said that he didn't really mean that the pandemic is over, but it hoping that it is going that way. I think it is more said d that way so this song can be used to celebrate when it is completely over. In a performance of this song Psy starts it out by following guidelines and using hand sanitizer.

Totally agree with you... what humans have been doing isn't sustainable. Speaking for myself, I'm not going to go back to how it was before. And I'm going to do my best to bring as much of the world as I can with me. And I also agree that this was a fun song. I'm glad that it brought some attention back to Psy. I haven’t fully created my own interpretations of this Music Video but here are things that stood out to me… When PSY appears on the blue suit he is referencing his big hit, because that is the suit he wears in that music video. Then in Agust D’s video Deawticha Yoongi plays two characters one from his past self and one the present self. So both are dealing with past and present self’s. I don’t know exactly what to think of it but I think these are two interesting things to think about…. The song is a banger though and Yoongi killed it with the rap, dancing and producing.

Jessi said "Pys is crazy, a music crazy" sort of genius. He is CEO of his own label and have amazing artists under. And Yoongi? Don't ask again. The guy make money with 3 different names 😁. He is one of the most well known producers in SK and is a main producer of BTS, dancer, rapper, singer. Suga approached Psy first offering a song that is "fit perfectly" for him. And he no lie about it

Great reaction Bryan. I love how Suga just drops in from the sky and all the comedy elements in the MV. It's a great collab and great production by Suga, I really love the beat - seems to have a latin vibe? I will say I reacted similar to you on the 'pandemics over' line when I first heard it. I mean it's kind of over compared to what it was, but it's not really gone everywhere, so im not sure if its technically 'over'. I guess it's the positive sentiment though given its largely reduced in a lot of places, restrictions are eased etc. I just love Sugas vocals in that middle part from the picture in your thumbnail "can you feel it, can you feel it..." 🎵 perfect 👌Although hes mainly a rapper he is a great vocalist too and I love to hear him sing. I was not a fan of Gangnam Style...it was played here ad nauseam and I just learned to change the station when it played. But I was still in my 'angry old woman' phase and listening to angry metal music - my housecleaning playlist will make your ears bleed 😂 (amazing how far I've come LOL) But this one I like. Possibly because Suga is there...possibly because Suga had a hand i it...but most likely because it's just...that good. Am I going to rush right out and get more Psy music? Not sure.
