I enjoy Dalziels variety of work; his archive is amazing. This one I believe is his signature mix ... it flows with a sense of mastery and lends interest to 2 and 3 in this series. However, as with most trilogies ... the first one is the best.
I actually agree. This one (his first one) just has SO MANY different palpable stories running through it, and they're all tied together by this *very* evocative soundtrack. It's almost like watching a sample of different movies than a mix.
This made me remember the 90's. -94 more specific. Dystopian roleplaying games like Mutant, Shadowrun, playing DreamWeb in DOS, reading William Gibson during late nights with rain and city lights outside, experiencing internet as it was back then. The demo scene on LAN-parties. Oh, the nostalgia.
I just bought neuromancer after reading your post. never heard of William Gibson before. Can you recommend any of his or anyone elses books that have this 80's - 90's cyberpunk/dystopian future vibe?
Neuromancer belongs to the Sprawl trilogy, which contains "Count Zero" and "Mona Lisa Overdrive". I'd recommend reading them too. "Snow Crash" by Neal Stephenson is also a great novel.
Was stationed on a mine in the middle of a desert for 2 months. Had this downloaded on my RU-vid app and became my only sole music to listen to while working. In the evenings before fell asleep, I would put the video on my room TV and the visuals and sound put me to sleep. Now, almost 4 years later, I still put this on my work laptop when I work late nights in the office and it helps me stay focused and working.
Sorry about the adds guys, it wasn't me! RU-vid doesn't let you monetize mix videos, but one of the artists in the video must have monetized it for themselves. I will upload a part 2 soon which hopefully doesn't get fucked by adds. In the meantime...all the people complaining to me in PMs, I can't turn it off but you can install an adblocker!
This literally brought me back to the 90's. Im pretty sure everyone thought the future vibes would feel like this. And technically, for those who listen to this, it does.
My friends and I, in 1989, were sure Blade Runner was right around the corner. We use to dream of mobile computers (decks), cash money replaced by cred chips or cards, and instant networking to the world. by 1996 all of those things (cell phones with the computing power of hundreds of 80's computers, atm cards, and the world wide web) were everyday, and so much more mundane than we imaged. We were sure that we'd all be speaking Japanese as they overtook us in cybernetics and computing, and that countries would dissolve and be replaced by corporations. And the question was never if, but when, the bombs would drop and send us back to the old west, in a mix of left over cyber tech and dusty saloons and small towns, powered by aging nuclear cells and creaking, aluminum windmills.
JC Denton: No one will ever worship a software entity peering at them through a camera. Morpheus: The human organism always worships. First, it was the gods, then it was fame (the observation and judgement of others), next it will be self-aware systems you have built to realize truly omnipresent observation and judgment. JC Denton: You underestimate humankind's love of freedom. Morpheus: The individual desires judgment. Without that desire, the cohesion of groups is impossible, and so is civilization.
"There is no better means of intensifying the treasured feeling of individuality than the possession of a secret which the individual is pledged to guard. The very beginnings of societal structures reveal the craving for secret organizations. When no valid secrets really exist, mysteries are invented or contrived to which privileged initiates are admitted. ... The need for ostenatious secrecy is of vital importance on the primitive level, for the shared secret serves as a cement binding the tribe together. Secrets on the tribal level constitute a helpful compensation for a lack of cohesion in the individual personality, which is constantly relapsing into the original unconscious identity with other members of the group."
Years pass by, and I still find my way back to this legendary mix - while coding or while doing some creative work, it is one of the best things to listen to. I am a big enjoyer of the other 3 mixes as well! Thank you for blessing us with this magnificent tetralogy, Dalziel 🙏❤
nice compilation. the visual artists should probably be attributed; i know a couple there are by valenberg (he is working on a game called virtuaverse).
Couldn't agree more.. I have tried but I found the gifs through google image search and couldn't locate any artist names. Do you know which specific ones are his? I will throw up a timestamp
Valenberg is at 7:15, 1:09:17 and his stuff can be seen at valenberg.deviantart.com/ The animated one at 32:21 looks like his work as well, but can't verify.
32:21 is indeed from Valenberg: valenberg.deviantart.com/art/Amplitude-Problem-Computer-Corner-513486527 AND: Both this and the one at 1:09:17 are at the very beginning too; same for 7:15 and 43:56. You should include the links to the artist's websites in the description. BTW: Great compilation and GREAT idea! Very appreciated! Very cool & relaxing!
Writing for my Cyberpunk Red game right now, and this is perhaps my favorite mix. Sometimes you get too heavy, too crunchy and boisterous with other mixes. It can disrupt the workflow, which I hate even more than writers block. But something like this, smooth and tingly, I really appreciate. It keeps me in the moods I get into while I'm writing out scenes. Thanks so much for the contribution!
Many different people come here wanting to hear many different vibes, I try to mix up the vibe to keep everyone happy. Anything on the channel with ambient or psybient in the title should be your vibe :)
but, I liked the crunchy sounds in my preferences of artistic audio for much a largely consistent aesthetic preference, for a large amount of time, casually as often usual, like good fun of listening to music as my chosen arts to enjoy sounds of, again. yeah, I would like another good time, again with my smoking.
I thought, earlier, before in my lifespan that I was a fan of liking the good "crunch" designing Soundscape textured artistic audios that I like as music that I can download, often like good always. I liked the crunch & the bass; I want to get subwoofers & strobe lights that I can put in my bedroom that I can enjoy. I honestly like this dope stuff & like imagining creatively.
At home and, in my free time, I'm having to do one of those online work-related assignments, you know, necessary mandatory training stuff that, generally, nobody likes to do. It's nice to have this on in the background to make the task less painful. I have it on my second screen so I glance a cross at the animations every now and again; loving the pixelated renderings.
I wish I discovered this way back in 2016. First time listening to this tonight, took some special gummies and this turned into the greatest Sci-fi movie I’ve ever seen. Undoubtedly the best Psybient mix on RU-vid, and it isn’t even close.
Probably the first electronic mix where I simply cannot skip watching the animated cyberpunk/16bit art gifs. Calms down and stimulates at the same time. Good job
Pixel Art has its charm. It is like a merge of computer with still human creativity and craftsmanship. Every pixel is put on place by humans hand (almost every)
I love you man, as much as all these people here who came looking for the same feeling. These graphics, this music....yes....cyberpunk is so much more than a trend. I got this "beneath a steel sky" feeling. Anybody remembers the game?
Cyberpunk is a community. Unlike Steampunk which is the world that could have been, it is the world that CAN be. As scary as that may seem, we have the power to alter reality to see it become something as magnificent and terrifying as this. Should be be scared? Yes. Yes, we should.
This is THE BEST psybient compilation on RU-vid and I've listened to a couple of them already. Never, please NEVER take it down. If YT blocks it - please, re-upload this somewhere under the same name so we can easily find it. And as someone below said - this mix sounds better than the actual songs queued on a playlist. Thank You Dalziel! Please, keep it online !
For going on two years now, this mix has helped me mitigate and manage severe depression and anxiety. I just found your BandCamp and I'm delighted to support your work.
Building a megalopolis personally. Neon glow in a gothic garden setting. Each structure a in-door/out-door menagerie of architecture. Public transportation around the clock year round. Socialized every damn thing, localized & commercial crops, 24/7 market place at least in the inner city portion though rest areas that triple as recreational centers & libraries each will dot the area. All self sustained with grid access!
I think I like this mix better than the actual songs on a playlist. The mix cuts out some of the boring really long intros to some of these tracks. Seriously, I have all of these tracks in a playlist and it's 1hr42min. DALZIEL cut out 32 min of unnecessary down-tempo space for us.
Thanks dude, yea all these tracks deserve listening to in their full form but for the sake of making an hour of tight psybient I tried to trim a little fat from the bones to make this mix just pure epic moments from end to end without the downtime.
They're making a sequel called beyond a steel sky. The aesthetic's changed quite a bit, but same artist and themes etc. Supposed to be coming out this year!
i was just gonna comment how sync24 also brings a similarly awesome vibe as them, and then found out he is actually one of the dudes from cbl. i gotta catch up real quick
I wish I could see how many times I have played this, almost everyday for the past year I have played this. Thank you so much for this mix its got me through some really tough times. Playing this I have 1 hour that I can sit and reflect. Sort out my head then I can get back to being human. I can't thank you enough.
They "dream" their past experiences in the human world. Experiences keep playing over and over until theygo crazy or gain conciousness and rule the world.
unless you program to dream. even AI don't dreams, do they? if u put a algorithm to do random calculation with no result.....as it loops it will learn to observe a pattern.... and then with what it had learnt....it will intepret the 'garbage' pattern to something meaningful, which bases on its mean purpose that is originally programmed to do.....every AI is originally designed to do a specific job, just like human....when u reach adulthood...'Purpose of life'.
Awwh, 6. Suduaya - Snow and Stars: 18:05. Just plain perfect, makes me go back to early 90's with my friend Jani when we just left the authority behind and _lived_. So many fatal situations that one can only imagine that there has been some kind of angel working around. And still, after many situations after, this track is timeless for me personally!
Just to add to the list of known Visual Artist / GameCredits. At 5:07 and 14:34 the gifs are made by Kirokaze. The one at 28:57 is made by pixelMewr. 26:05 is made by Kidmograph. Both the one at 4:50 and 13:06 are from the game X-girl.
little late but, look up Hierbas Ibiciensas by Sunlounger. It's a bit chill compared to the track on this video, but I think the delayed guitar bit is what you like (I love it).
wow this compilation is a masterpiece, love all tracks, nice sounds nice atmosphere, positive vibes, clip and andimation too! thanks for sharing, cheers from italy CIAO
I LOVE YOU, everywone who feels this 'space' or void where we come in to when we listin to this kind of music or even sci fi visuals, GREAT VIBEEE I LOVE LIVEEE!! THANKSSSSS keep on feelings brothers!!!!
I must've listened to this mix about 100 times. Amazing and absolutely love the visuals. Takes me back and really feel comforted in a odd cozy way. The music fits perfectly. Good job sir hope you make more in the future.
I've lost count how many times I have listened to this. It is simply stunning. I can spend hours working and writing in perfect peace with this in the background. It dosen't intrude on my thought process, instead it enhances it and motivates it. Many thanks for this video. The music and visuals are great.
Dalziel- Thanks for the track-list. I just purchased each song on iTunes and then placed them in the same order you created. This way, when I don't have any connection, I can still listen to your mix.
Working at my tech projects with this soundtrack is absolutely fantastic. In my immagination this is the perfect soundtrack for Hyperion chantos by Dan Simmons
Thank you for reminding me Hyperion... !! I disagree as Hyperion is the most dark thing, and most music here is technical, industrial, cyber, but not dark
@@damnyourpasswords maybe the first two chapter of the chantos may me identified as dark. But Endymion and The rise of Endymion are quite different. I dunno but this compilation does not quite hit me in a technical-industrial mood, more of a... really do not know how to put it. But I am sure that this feelings are quite linked to our personal way to read the books and approach to this great compilation
@@giuseppetrainiti1525 I agree about our personal way! If I ever find music that I feel connects, I will inform you. About the endymion, I guess that it was meant to be somehow optimistic (?) while we always know that the female protagonist will die, humanity will lose immortality and farcasters if I remember? a mix of doom with hope in other things...
I can't remember how or when exactly I found this mix, but when I did, I played it almost nonstop for a month while playing Elite: Dangerous every night. It really is the perfect background music for a lonely long journey through space.
This is what's up, bro. Taking me back to my nerdy roots. Some of these tracks are the modified bar soundtrack from an old space/scifi PC game called Freelancer.
This is among the best electronic music mixes on YT. It will suvive the test of time. Total classic. And yes in the future we will all live in SE Asia. And there will be flying cars to alleviate traffic.
This reminds me of when I lived in downtown Neopolitropolis. I had this amazing agri-terrium condo on the 137th floor. I modded up this hot synth. We were able to achieve a simulated vortex coupled onto a rift tremor. Holy fuck.. in alternating gravity bursts. then when the stimulants wore off, I woke up alone, with my implants scorched.... Ahhh memories...
Somebody needs to tell you how awesome that paragraph of cyberpunk jibber-jabber you wrote was, so here you go: that was some high-end, uncut synthoblabber, and my neuroghost burnt two stemports just uploading it. So bravo.
I just need to thank you for making this mix, every time I need to study something or work on something I usually put this on. It all blends well together and I've got use to listening to these tracks so my brain doesn't get distracted when trying to focus. It's become an awesome way to trigger my brain into productive mode.
I love listening to this while I work by myself at my crypto mining warehouse and while building new rigs. It gives me nostalgia while seeming like the perfect music to listen to as I work on computers. It fits perfectly
Just can't stop listening this! Awesome! I study programming, and usually need a pure silence during the process, but this...This suits perfectly! Thease melodies inspires me while I'm working! And pixel graphic work for the atmosphere as well! Love it! Great mix! Thank's to the author so much!
Jump around to different mixes…but always end up back at this one. It’s the top of the list and has been for several years running. EDIT: just noticed others saying the same thing. That’s bananas. Go read and like their comments. They say it better than me anyway.
There is something about the digital chorus of the opening you selected by Koan... something unique, special about this. Transportive, directly pure and distilled ether encompassing one flavor: dystopian Cyberpunk - a bleak, harsh reality bound with a single, thin golden thread of hope and determination. And then the rest of the amazing mix just.. flows. DALZIEL, amazing work ad infinitum. Thank you.
I was 16, going through a difficult phase of my life, family was stressful, school was stressful, I've been going to Advanced Physics and Math courses, ocassional faints and concussions from homework due to the overload and starvation. I used to hook my old broken Toshiba to the TV and play these playlists in the background. It was so spiritually empowering, enhancing my inner motivation, of reaching the greater, the better, the next level. I keep coming back to this playlist whenever I need to fall into the trance and achieve something. Thank you, Dalziel, please keep making these mixes
Because of this mix I stumbled upon Carbon Based Lifeforms. We bought to tickets to their berlin show. So you really make a difference for the artist, even with a 7 year old video!
I really miss the 16bit games. More room for your imagination. The newer games, Fallout 76, Cyberpunk 2077, Anthem....leave no room for imagination at all. That's IF the damn games work. Ya, Todd, it just works my ass.
I want a 2020 high budget game that is exactly this visual aesthetic done in 3D made to look like this 2D (HD quality of course) with that raw 80s/90s Sci-fi vibe ~ there could be multiple universes in different art/ animation styles~ the safe spots can be beautiful cozy Lofi vibes ~ an amazing open world to discover where you're free to be straight gay poly alien ~ something so open and unique ~ with a storyline that develops organically based around your choices and game play ~ that would be a winner
23:05 i clench my teeth - its like im dying and i have to resist crying (shamanism auto brainwash, im intenting, magic dosent exist, place of non ordinary reality, seeing filament, im edging)
