Ok, one thing that needs to be said myron^^: A lot of women that say stuff like "i put makeup on for myself, not men" are not lying, they are simply wrong. These women have probably been wearing makeup for over a decade, and have seen women wearing makeup since childhood. Meaning, their brain has noticed the effect it has on the level of attention the get, the increase in positive feedback from friends, men, etc. So the logical chain is: Wearing makeup -> more positive reception by society/friends/men -> feeling good about one's self (attention feels good, especially to women) And as with everything that involves the human brain: Neurons that fire together connect with each other. Which means that eventually, after years of this occurring, the brain will immedietly jump to the end of the chain, simply when the first part of it (weaing/putting on makeup) is performed. So these women ACTUALLY feel better when they put it on, even when they are not doing it for a man. Of course, the whole thing only works because the male attention is what keeps these neurons connected to each other. Without it - stranded on a lonely island, for example - they would stop wearing makeup very quickly, since the neurons would disconnect everytime they put makeup on without getting more attention as a result. And since (modern) women barely ever seem to think about why they act like the do, its pretty likely that these women are NOT lying. They are just dead-ass wrong about their own mind.
