Our old family (we lost 2 years ago at 17) was the polar opposite to this. He would literally have the vet nurses arguing over who would see to trimming his claws and giving him a checkup. The vet even had to once do a joint manipulation on his claw because he got him self caught once on a rug, and dislocated one of the claws, normally this is done under anesthetic because it's painful, but he was calm as anything and even purred afterwards. Such a trooper and yes as a grown ass man I still balled my eyes out when he was gone, even my brother did and he was driving in another country at the time and had to pull over.....they really are family.
Feeling your pain here man, I had a cat of a similar disposition, it's two weeks shy of a year since his passing and I miss him every day. You are not wrong when you say they are family, they very much are.
... how do either of you know?... That said, I'm inclined to agree that they at least have a sense of the fact that it isn't malicious... they're just really dumb and selfish animals 😂 (until they're smart and sweet again)
I remember the times I took my dear old buddy Spyder to the vets for shots and once for a dog wound. He would ride on my lap the whole way; never even thought of a carrier 'cause he'd usually just jump into the car if he thought he was getting a ride.Little bugger would barely even blink through all of this. He was the most unbelievably laid-back little dude anyone ever saw.
My cat Peggy was so laid back we never had a cat carrier for her, we used to go to the vet and in the waiting room were loads of dogs, I just shoved her inside my coat until it was our turn. Got her jabs without any issue and the vet said she needed her teeth cleaned and started pulling plaque tooths off her teeth without any problem with his bare hands (edit fingernail).....
Imagine you love pets so much, you gave everything to become a vet, only to find out that pets are scared of you and hate to visit you. Man that's so tragic.
I worked at a pet clinic one summer. Cats hated it there and I always came away with a fuckton of scratches but it was always worth it because the cat always left healthy
Whats worse is pet owners that stand by and watch their pets freak out. I have had 3 cats and a dog in my lifetime. They never acted out at the vet because I did my job as protector. I pet them and talked to them in a soothing voice so they could stay calm. Going to the vet can be a scary experience for animals.
@@sourpuss1455 Its more like a general understanding of cats. Like cesar millan with dogs. Edit: That they allready use a towel is allready a sign of distrust and the cat can feel that.
He's not a psycho, he's getting repeatedly stuck with needles against his will for a reason he can't comprehend. I'd do the same thing if I were in his shoes... paws...
@@thomasbh5223 What? No, where'd you get that? I said "against his will," and "for a reason he can't comprehend." I understand the importance of vaccination and subject myself to it willingly at regular intervals.
@@youknowit4954 the cat was angry , so the cat was saying arararraaaarr because of anger , so my opinion was that the cat was using bad words. I hope you understand this
I know a guy that had a cat like this one, unfortunately the guy was in drugs and all that bs, and the cat used to be angry and fight with him. There was a day that the drunk dude came back from somewhere, we heard the cat attacking him again, and after that a gunshot was heard, we called the police, and they found the cat dead on his bedroom with a gunshot wound.
I imagine the other kittys in the waiting room hearing her would be similar to us at the dentist hearing someone yelled with the whizzing sound of the dentist's apparel XD
Remember kids, if you find yourself in the jungle and are dealing with an aggressive Tiger or Lion, don’t throw a towel on their head. Instead throw the towel on your own head, so you don’t see what happens next.
Reminds me of my brother’s cat. Every once in a while the cat would get a bit frisky and spoil for a fight. My brother would get all his motor bike leathers on, leather gauntlets and full face crash hat. Then there was a battle royal. 5 minutes later they would both be exhausted and snuggle up on the sofa, the best of friends. His cat(Suzuki) absolutely loved the opportunity to get very violent. He was a big cat. I am sure it kept them both sane and was certainly a spectacle for me.
It's reasons like this, why I know longer work with animals. Cats are generally OK, but you do get alot of hissers and ones that like to show off their claws.... but every so often you do get that evil lil fkr from hell that'll tear you to shreds if not careful.
That's not a psycho cat, is a cat that is fearful and feeling cornered and threatened by strangers. If they had some extra heavy blankets to hold him down and reducing his visual stimulation it would help him relax and everything would have happened faster and he wouldn't have escapped. I deal with those sassy kittens all the time and the key is to be patient, quick and prepared lol
Yep. This assistant and veterinarian were awful but they didn't need more blankets. The cat required two people holding it down and the vet should have had another assistant ready. Two people who are confident and quick like you said. I was grinding my teeth watching this. My vet always allows me to help hold one of my cats down that needs it. We get it done fast. Felt bad for the cat.
@@Desantisgogoboots In extreme cases like this, yes we do need blankets, too many people in the room would only make him more stressed. believe me, I've done this for years. In order to hold a pet down the person tends to use more pressure than needed witch only makes the kitten more scared and might attempt to bite his way out. But a blanket gives the pet a bigger sense of calmness and helps reduce the visual stimulation, and no one gets scratched or bitten.
@@franzk9376 I have had more cats than I can remember and I never had any cat like this. Cats are not fully domasticated, so their behaviour depends on the environment they lived in as kittens. I raised a baby cat since her birth and she lived with me her entire life and ended up being as lovely as a puppy. she would come if I called her, she would always follow even when she wasn't a baby anymore. it really depends on how they live, not all cats are violent, no way.
@@kingquanforeal4632 she grabbed is scruff so it shouldn't have been painful. Plus it looked like he had already started being aggressive before the recording.
it is not the cat, in my opinion the vet assistance is Dummy, she's afraid and that makes the animal suffer even more. Also cats r extremely difficult to hold...
It can be stressful. But I've also had to handle fractious cats like this one in the video at my old vet clinic job. I also used leather gloves and a thick towel/blanket to handle them, and it wasn't too bad. Eventually you get used to it.
What about a Russian Brown bear armed with a Kalashnikov standing over your bed whispering "shush... it will be over quickly" as you wake up in the middle of the night?
It's nice to meet you, friend. Now that is one upset kitty! I think he knows that there is a shot involved in this encounter! That is a catitude if every I've seen one! Thank you for sharing. I hope yours and Lucas weekend goes much more smoothly, with purrs and cuddles!
@@jazzythebazzbanana2800 you didn't get the joke ... Don't worry tho I won't make fun of you or r\woooosh you! Looks just like Simon my main coin black and white mix that’s passed in 2016. Sounds just like him also he was the only pet that I have ever had that had a brown file at the vets office every other file was blue. The vet played a joke on another vet and told him this cat was the sweetest cat he ever saw. I miss that cat the most personality I have ever seen in a cat.
+Crystal I had cats since a kid. I have nothing against them. but not even my cat behaves like this. how is this any different than a dog biting a person?! dogs feel emotions too that's why they bite! and if they do most of them get put down. this is no different smart 1.
Thirsty Aleksandr You must really love cancer if that's the case. Your cat is probably filled up the ass with rabies because the poor o'l vet is gonna hurt your cat's feelings.
When my mom and I took my cat to the vet, she acted nothing like this. She just sat still and shedded like there was no tomorrow, but once they were done, she meowed in a panicked tone as we were trying to pack up.
I use to work at a vet cleaning kennels and was attacked more then once by cats. I had a feral cat I took in and it attacked me so bad I still have scars. Nothing worse then getting bitten and scratched by a cat.
