I landed on this interview through a pipeline of the most uncharitable takes on Ian and Anisa’s relationship at a time where I’m looking for gentleness in my own. What a gem in a world that fosters cruelty towards imperfections.

As someone who used to like idubbz bad unboxing videos, I think that a lot of cold ones content fills a similar niche. A lot of my enjoyment was the erratic energy and carefree fun that you had. I think people (especially neurodivergent people like me) enjoy that especially when they get bogged down in behaving "normally" all day. To me it was a safespace to like feel that energy and those emotions. (Also this was a great podcast thank you for making my day better)

It's crazy that people always call Anisa "abusive" or "toxic". When you listen to all their stories about past relationship problems they've had or personal growth they've had it is very apparent that Ian used to be the "toxic" one... that's obviously the past so I'm not trying to hold something that happened 5 years ago against him but out of the two of them it would make more sense for Ian to be acused of these things (not that I think anyone should).

Obviously I don’t know you guys but it’s so so obvious that Anisa loves Ian so much. Like it’s crazy seeing people being 100% convinced that she hates him and wants him to hate himself and then watching this and seeing that she thinks, at his core, he’s always been good. That is such a good basis of a relationship.

49:00 Anisa was talking about comments diagnosing her with BPD. Then Kirk interrupts her to redirect the conversation to talk about him "ignoring" those comments. Hmmm... I wonder if there's a therapist online that contributes to such comments, posting about people and their behaviors and what could be BPD... Then there's him hiring his niece to screen the comments which is insane considering he wants to talk about other people's mental health and trauma but claims he can't handle people discussing him on his own channel.... Do people know what happened? There's comments calling him out for being pro pdf file and belittling kids that claimed they were r-worded. Why would you put your niece to screen those comments of people legit concerned and angry? He said that he hired his niece instead of a random stranger because he's afraid if any one person were to read the info behind the scene, he's afraid they wouldn't take his side. Brilliant. Thank goodness there's a brother's kid to take that place! In older videos, he used to talk about looking up his name to see what people were saying about him online. He switched that up around the Johnny Depp trial when people were calling him out for being inappropriate. That's when he all of a sudden started talking about being super duper sensitive to criticism. He's a master manipulator. Document every communication you have with him.

The easiest way to moce forward, is to realize your UNIVERSAL importance as a human being, and GET OVER the personal identifiable arrogance that we attach to pain/hurt. You can’t imagine yourself a different human based on experiences you didn’t have, but ultimately our personal obsession with our own experiences truly defines a persons in-the-moment experience.

Anisa, I don’t think I’ve ever written a comment quite like this one and I’m oddly compelled to do so. Listening to you and Ian discuss the process of therapy, the ups and downs, and all the nuance struck a chord with me. I’ve been with my husband for almost 20 years (I’m about to be 40 so I’m not that old lol) and I can see that you both are where we were ten years ago. I get it. My husband has the exact same adoration of solitude (going to be my next book title 😂), the quiet action, and the need to be untethered. It’s taken years, but it’s all ok. I see so many parallels between you and I. Again, this seems weird to share intimate details here. But I felt the strong pull to write. I’ll also send you a message on instagram. The same handle as here, in case you want to check for it. Celebrating your future as you mend the past. 🩶

Dr Kirk Honda of Psychology in Seattle is a wonderful model of a therapist and human being. Other RU-vid therapists shout and swear at the videos they analyse, but Dr Kirk Honda gives such a thoughtful reflection from all perspectives and promotes understanding and patience with those portrayed as the ‘bad guy’ as well as promoting keeping yourself safe from unhelpful relationships. His channel is very impressive especially deep dives and the reaction videos to some relationship Tv shows. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

When you all talked about how Ian is trying to re-find his career. I was hit by this feeling of how cool and rare this podcast is. After success on the internet followed by traumatic event, this podcast is like a post mortem on a past age of the internet. I think most creators who at one time had huge social following look back at their career offline and we never hear from them again. But, I think its really cool and brave that you both are are putting conversations like this one out their in the public. And it actually kind of re-contextualized the title of the podcast for me. I always thought it was called "She ruined my career" as an "F you" to everyone who says that about Anisa. Like " Look I'm still out here making stuff, what are you going to do about it?". But this episode made me think it is much more earnest. That she did ruin Ian's career, and it was welcome change. And what were seeing now is you both attempting to discover a new career. I may have thought too much about this, but I really liked this episode.

I miss seeing them there but man, I understand, and I'm all for you doing whatever it takes to thrive. Thins are rough now, but I know that both of your careers will take off again, and even if you don't get the massive level of success you had before, you'll get well off from doing stuff you love. i really sympathize with you both, especially anisa, but anisa the way you never have stood up for trisha who got probably the worst hate train of all time sent her way from your best friend ethan is something that i find disappointing. you say how harmful online hate is but are best friends with h3h3 that literally sends his "foot soldiers" to anyone he has issues with. as a sex worker and as a woman, you should have had a soft corner for trisha who actually has BPD and drug issues. but you didnt. you and ian still dont talk fondly of her. i wish you both would have extended some grace her way. i understand ian not understanding or seeing the wrong in how ethan conducts himself, but i just expected more from anisa. because i feel like she is probably some of the few people on this planet that would understand. you guys advocate for kindness and anti-bullying, but are best friends with ethan. but it is what it is. i hope one day anisa realizes that for this world to be a better place, we need to advocate for empathy and forgiveness from the people we surround ourselves with. anisa, if people do better when they are given love and support, then how is it right to punish them with hate when they don't? i wish things get better for you and ian, and i hope you understand how harmful it can be to stay silent when a best friend is putting someone consistently through the same hurt you face.

I think the "positive comments come in the most in the first 24 hours" is only true if you have an existing following. I have personally found that when I post content publicly the worst, rudest comments come almost instantly and the positivity follows. My theory is that basement dwellers who refresh for "new" to find people to antagonize just catch content sooner than well adjusted people
