I still struggle daily because of untreated depression , grief, ADD, and anxiety. Its so hard to get any help being a recovering addict in a rural community. its people like these artist that get me thru. and people like you sharing your wisdom in your reactions. Another band that has truly saved me is BLUE OCTOBER. there's even a recovery documentary surrounding their singer called GET BACK UP. Their song FEAR is the first song he wrote out of rehab and its a beautiful song and video. Tom's music has saved me. I'm 3 years clean from cocaine products 2 months ago, and years 2 and 3 were because of Tom's music. I love that man for saving me, and I've never even met the man, never seen him in concert yet, yes he does a lot controversial political material but also a lot of really deep mental health songs. Balloons deals with his depression and anxiety dealing with fame as well as Best Rapper Ever is one of my favorites that made me love Tom, dealing with his fight against his self.

I am so glad you did this one! This is their actual stories. I am coming up on 5 months sober and I listen to this song every single day as part of my recovery. I find it so uplifting and hopeful for people who feel hopeless. Tom and my Hangovergang community inspired me to start my sobriety journey and it was the best thing that has ever happened to me! I am 100% #hangovergang for LIFE! I know you already did Withdrawls but I recommend checking out Church, I Don't Drink and his latest release Scars.

There’s a lot of truth to this song. Some years back I could have easily OD’d on fentanyl and I was right at the cusp of it. Went to NA after being confronted about it and went from there. That was 5 years or more ago now. Stopped going to the meeting after maybe 6 months and told myself if never have a reason to go back. I’ve yet to have to go back again. Started working, kept myself busy and started building a life. I had absolutely nothing when I began. Bought a truck shortly after beginning to work, moved to somewhere else. Started traveling on work locations, bought my second vehicle. Just bought my house a year ago. I’m still far from who I want to be but continue to strive and become that person everyday. Great review that hits home for many people out there like myself.

When I lost my daughter, I thought it was over for me. I was broken and I was DEVASTATED. I didn't WANT to get better. This song hit me in a place inside of me that didn't want to die... it was such a small, hard to reach spot at first... but it was there. It's now where I live. It's grown enough that I can fit a whole life inside of it.

Nova also has her own music, her song Hey You is good, she refers years back to when she was signed to a label, and labels do what they do best, they use you, they fuck you over, and then throw you to the curb when they’re done with you. If you do psychotherapy, you need to watch “Best Rapper Ever!” By the way, I worry about Tom. A lot of people get their priorities messed up early on. I’m afraid he is using work to avoid addiction. Once that stops working, he will need to have something at a deeper level to sustain his recovery. He may or may not have that. I hope he has it though. He’s very inspirational.

Tom is amazing, when I am feeling down I always watch his videos and they make me feel better. I am 60 months sober, God took that need from me over time and I will never go back! At my lowest. Living on the street doing 80$ shots of meth for almost a year, I quit cold turkey. Realized I was just a step away from death. Its been 8 years, I dont crave or want it. I hate what it did to me but any time i see someone getting ready to shoot, I honest to God start sweating and getting that old feeling! I understand it but I cant stop it. Its not enough to drive me back to it but damn it hits! Clean, sober and working the same job for over 6 years now!

Another vote for "Church" by Tom. It's a very real look into the irrational brain function of us when we're first getting sober and still figuring out how to do it. Especially if you already struggle with faith. Even after 2 years sober, I still listen to that song regularly to remind me how far I've come. That song was me.

I had 9 years sober and I had heard this song during that time. It hit me pretty hard then. I've had a rough 8 month binge with several failed attempts to quit and am now proud to say I have 6 days under my belt. These are their stories. Madchild is an artist from the 90s early 00s. Madchild made a few mistakes and was banned from coming to the USA for a time. But he cleaned up and doing really good now. Him and Tom are really good friends and honestly all of them are awesome ppl. And i just subscribed too and loved the reaction💞

I've been sober for 7 years now. Hearing this song reminds me all the things I went threw while deep in addiction. When your sober a few years, you tend to forget about the worst of times. This song keeps me straight and it's still a anthem for me . I know I can't go back to that place. That song reminds me of the road and lessons .

That song is Toms life story. A year or so back he did an interview with Brandon Tatum and he told the whole story of his addiction ( It was intense), you should go back and watch it, amazing man. It seems that you don’t know much about Tom but he had a hard life until he got sober and met Nova. Nova is his long-time girlfriend. (Listen to their song Gang Gang, he harmonizes with Nova here too!). The other thing about Tom and Nova is that they are true independent artist. He writes his own songs, medleys, and the thing in rap music that constructs the rap beat. Most rap artist have other people do this, Tom and Nova does not have label, He is his own manager, his own agent, Tom and Nova are the producers. Everything they do is because THEY did it. He is even his own merchandiser, stock boy, mail clerk and maid…lol ( funny but true). He owns ALL of his own music and in 2021 he was Billboards #1 artist with almost every song released and I read once that he is the only artist to EVER make the #1 artist in 3 musical categories on the same day. This man went from HARDCORE addiction to the best rap artist of the Era…. The new song he released this week is called “Names” and it talks about the wave of calling people stupid, loser, idiots, uneducated, whateverphobic, and the times we are currently living in, I believe it also touch’s on bullying and how to just be in the right mental state when people attack you with word…. They are just names…. Tom just has a way to speak TRUTH! And we love Nova who does all the editing and graphics for all the videos and by herself she is and AMAZING vocal artist. The songs they put out are hard going but you understand EVERY word and the rap makes sense. He does NOT do the MUMBLE rap crap that you can’t understand. He supports our military, police and the constitution because he earned his freedom and citizenship ( he wasn’t born in America, he worked to get here LEGALLY). I hope this helps give you a little about Tom and Nova from a fan point of view. I have never met Tom or Nova but admire their hard working attitude towards life! PLEASE FIND THE TATUM INTERVIEW, it will open your eyes if you like true stories of overcoming addiction…..H.O.G. forever This man is a true inspiration to me and even though I only know about him through RU-vid and H.O.G. Some how it gives me the power to push through and put POSITIVE thought in the front instead of the negative. I can relate a bit too much. This song helped me through some stretches. I was homeless, meth addict, heroin junkie running around with my brother literally eating out of fast food dumpsters because food stamps were a fix and boosting everyday just to get a few pennies worth of a dollar I stole over and over. One day he was gunned down in front of me by the cops because he was trying to get locked up in order to get sober for his unborn daughter that was on the way. A week later I'm 2 states away shaking, sweating, vomiting, diarrhea, waking up every other hour yelling from nightmares, whole body burning unless I was moving and completely exhausted unless I was laying down! For almost a month I dealt with that and then depression for another 7-8 months until I went to the Dr. Because I couldn't hang. That was almost 5 yrs ago, I just recently stopped all my anti depressants and Weened myself down on my Suboxone and stopped it a couple weeks ago. Wheeeew..... sorry for the biography and R.I.P. brother, you didn't deserve what happened to you and they didn't deserve paid vacations for it either. Miss you and will keep telling your story until the ear that can stop it from happening in the future hears it.

Hey just came across this! I love the reaction! I served 12 years in the army from 2002-2014, did 4 deployments, hid my ptsd with pills in the army then later heroin after I got out. Got Clean 2Nov15 and have stayed that way through working with sleddogs- I am a dog musher myself now and I’m one qualifying race from running Iditarod. Long way, still hard every day tho not as hard as it was initially. The dogs, being with them in the Alaskan wilderness is my deep therapy. Since you are a recovery channel, there are scores of songs and interviews by #Madchild that go into addiction deeply (he has a whole album called Dope Sick.) Two more recent ones are Leave a Light w/Joey Oz (grab a tissue) and A Confession, a true story about a fan of his, which is raising money for a mental treatment and addiction center in Canada. At one time he spoke at schools in Canada about the dangers of addiction. I do love this reaction, and the emphasis that you put on that anything can become that weakness. I hear all the time (myself included) how hard it is to lose weight, how difficult it is to keep it off. I have a cousin who struggles so much with anxiety that she has trouble gaining weight. She has to force herself to continue to love herself enough to eat healthy and keep weight on. It's so hard for people to see the very real struggle that's there because it's not theirs. And I love this reaction so much saying "Just because it's not your fight, or your fight isn't their fight, doesn't mean either one is more or less difficult to fight on a daily basis" Wonderful videos, keep it up!

Wow I just watch your first video about an hour ago. This is amazing and thank you for what you are doing. I'm 8 months sober and clean. The treatment center I went to I'm still connected with and we did a music therapy group a couple times. Each house mate picked a song that ment something to us. It got played then we discussed what it meant to us. Very powerful, my whole life music has never let me down. I'm going to share your videos with the counselor from the house. Who I still see on a regular basis. We have become family and he's a huge support for my recovery. I have the best life now and never thought it was possible for me.

This is my first time watching you sir! I'm 68 in a month and addicted to about everything out there. Sober finally and Hang over gang. Didn't even like rap when I was young. Now Tom, Bryson James, burden Jennings and Caitlin Curtis God we need you now.

Best Rapper Ever is Tom’s best in my opinion and right up your alley I think. All about fighting self doubt. It has helped me so much because that’s one of my biggest struggles. Silencing that inner voice that wants you to fail. Church, Withdrawals, Scars, Balloons all good ones too that deal with addiction. Can’t go wrong reacting to any of them.

Madchild is a solo artist from Canada formerly in the band swollen members they were huge in Canada... madchild had an addiction issues also and is now clean....him and Tom have collaborated on a few songs and they are all amazing

I was a 20 year alcoholic till I heard this song. I am in therapy now to keep me sober.. being an acholic is easy.. being sober is hard specially living in vegas where it is thrown at you 24 hours a day... I still go to bar to see my friends but now im a water drinker. got my 2 year chip just the other day.
