You weren't far off! The figure in the red cloak is Nico / Blurryface coming to take Tyler to Dema. The figures on the top were the Banditos (including Josh), who represent your friends and family trying to help you out of your depression. So they toss the yellow flower petals (which represent hope, as you said) to remind him they're there and he can fight back. He does turn away from Nico and start to run, but he stumbles and falls, so in the end Nico still gets him. Please watch Nico and the Niners for the next installment in the story! ♥️

Great explanation. I also would add that Tyler is in a Trench. Nico and the Niners is definitely next for the trilogy of music videos, even though that isn’t the order on the album.

I always thought Nico and the Niners came before jumpsuit as in NAN they place the tape on his jumpsuit, and in jumpsuit it's still there. My brain hurtss

This mv is 1 out of a 3 part trilogy, you were right it is a continuation of heavydirtysoul. I’ll start of with the colors red and yellow, red means basically anything bad and mainly represents blurryface. Yellow is the opposite and stands for hope and good things in life. The red bishop is called nicolaus bourbaki, but mostly called nico. Nico is a manifestation of blurryface so in a sense he is blurryface but in an expanded way? Nico is 1 out of 9 bishops and he is the leader/ most powerful / bishop. Okay now onto the story, It starts with tyler on the car and then flashes forward to him waking up in a creek, he wakes up in a place called trench. Its 1/3 places and you’ll notice the other two in later music video’s. Trench is the place in between good and bad. Tyler stars walking and you can see nico who is coming to get him, tyler is wearing his jumpsuit with yellow tape (his jumpsuit is a form of protection) The first time he looks up theres a few people stading at the cliffs, those are bandito’s who you can recognise by their camo outfits and yellow tape. The bandito’s are the good people with as their leader josh. Tyler notices the bandito’s as they become more but not soon after trips and falls again. He gets up sees them again but its too late nico is already there, as you can see the moment he tyler sees nico he is already doomed because he cant fight back. Nico smeares him (giving him the paint on his neck and hands which means nico now has full control) Tyler follows him blindly but then when he notices the yellow flower on the ground he is able to look up again giving him a form of hope. The bandito’s trow more yellow petals to give him strength and as the music builds up tyler decides to fight back and run. He comes pretty far but trips again and gets caught by nico. This might all be confusing rn but if you watch the other videos it’ll make more sense as more gets explained too, the order is jumpsuit- nico and the niners - levitate. This entire storyline is a metaphor for mental health and tyler mind and definitely my favourite concept album out there, I hope i made sense explaining hahaha

“I’ll be right there but you’ll have to tie me down and then break both my hands” is basically saying the only way he will completely succumb to dema and blurry face is if he can no longer sing or write.

the guy on the horse is blurryface, and the guys wearing yellow are "the banditos", a group of rebels who rescue people from "dema", a prison controlled by the bishops, and blurryface is the leader of the bishops.The bishops believe in vialism, a religion that glorify death, they lock people in dema to suck away their life. Josh is the leader of the banditos and he is always saving tyler, that's why the car went on fire cause of his drums.

This video was shot in Iceland! This whole album is basically a double meaning with Dema and a lot from real life - his new place is Dema where he awakes, but also the pressure of the new place is their place in the music industry now that they're famous When he's talking about grabbing my throat and lifting me in the air and breaking both his hands - he's basically saying if Blurryface or the bishops want to stop him they're going to have to stop him from making music

The banditos were the people tossing the yellow petals and Josh was the one standing up there by himself near the end. Like others have said, the yellow petals do represent hope. I think Tyler getting the jumpsuit out of the burnt up car at the end means he had that protection with him all along but I'm not positive about that, just a guess. That car reminds me of the burnt up car from the holiday movie Planes, Trains & Automobiles lol!

Good job picking up some themes. Love that you're trusting us to guide you thru. ❤️ A couple of elements that always stand out for me are that the petals are like the confetti at their concerts, they're floating down to remind Ty that he's not alone, just like they shower us at the concerts, signifies the same for me. I also like the visual representation when Nico touches Ty's neck spliced with the vulture. They start off as marks, almost looking like feathers, then grow to take over his entire neck. He follows Nico in a trance-like state til he sees the yellow flowers. Watch for the flowers and vulture through lines in the next two vids of this trilogy. Also, fyi the bishops can't see yellow (hope), which is why it's a symbol for the Banditos, those who help each other escape from Dema. And, last but not least, the cyclical nature of dealing with mental health issues is a huge part of these vids, so you'll start to notice how Tyler works that into the visuals throughout, too. So happy you're a huge fan before you dive into their more current work. You're def going to continue to be blown away!!! FPE |-/ 💛🖤💛 and Happy Holidays ❤️💚❤️

Hey Tom! Love your reactions so much,, the man on the horse is thought to be Blurryface or Nico which is the bishop specifically assigned to Tyler to keep him in Dema. In this video he was attempting to escape when Nico/Blurry finds him and gives him that fear and insecurity to try and lure him back in. The banditos (Including Josh, the people on the mountain) throw the yellow petals at him as a symbol of hope and to not give up. Yellow is the one color that the Bishops can't detect/see so it's their sign of rebellion. When he's showered with the support and love from other Banditos who have escaped Dema he takes off running, but seemingly ends up captured again. The last man standing and watching him get dragged back is Josh. I hope this helps

The guy on the horse is trying to lure him back to dema and he’s his depression and anxiety and fear in a human form. The yellow represents hope, the banditos represent his family and friends and fans and though they know they can’t force Tyler out of dema they can try and help guide him out and be there for him and be supportive.

My very very simple explanation of this video for anyone who it could benefit, would be that Nico (on the horse) and the bishops, can’t see yellow, so the Banditos (on top of the mountains) threw down yellow petals that only Tyler and the horse could see. It helped break Tyler from Nicos control seeing the message from his friends and noticing that they where there for him, and it confused the horse and stalled Nico in time for Tyler to start making a run for it. Than Tyler trips and starts the cycle all over again, continuing into the Nico and the Niners music video!

to me, at this moment in time, could change next year... but for me, I was trapped (up against the wall, fighting battles for my neighbors without them knowing) when they called the cops on me multiple times for singing at the park to 21pilots. (twenty øne piløts)... I was put in jails, and taken to multiple hospitals in Texas, ultimately being betrayed by friends parents. That's when I heard things in the halls of the system.. the justice and mental health system combined. I heard screams of women and cries from grown men. All I could do was keep my head above water in the asylum and that takes us to Neon gravestones... "Call, call, call What's my problem? Well, I want you to follow me down to the bottom Underneath the insane asylum Keep your wits about you while you got 'em 'Cause your wits are first to go while you're problem-solving And my problem?" The song meanings are philosophical, artistic, theological, scientific, humanistic, algorithmic (no more matrix, but we are in the meta verse {A.I.}... and it continues to morph with all the fans that are having their own problems and can create art that will help them get through those times where they feel alone or are trying to save each other but can't do anything about it because their parents are not on the same page as them and may not understand because they don't go to school with them, they don't know or won't know what their peers are going through... its a cycle of absue, trauma, neglect and that's why Tyler says "break the cycle in half" during the song "Saturday." This goes back to 'Kitchen Sink'... doing chores for his mom could save a life in ways his mom may not know. that's all I got for now...... }. We are twenty one pilots and so are you. (PEACE).... & *love*.

The man is red is one of the bishops of dema, did you notice how he had the black all the way covering his mouth up to his nose? and as Tyler followed him his neck filled in, the longer he follows that path the more he turns into a bishop which is basically a silent follower of their ways

Yah yellow is hope. And when they throw the flowers the hope gives him strength to run from his anxiety. But he stumbles at the end like we all do. And gets caught. But he still had a yellow flower with him. So he was captured. But still is hanging on to a little hope (the flower).
