PSYQUI has to be one of the most unique sounding music I’ve ever heard. Never heard this one before, but 5 seconds in I was like “hm, I wonder if this is PSYQUI”.
The mixing is unreal; it defies physics. It's a critical element of EDM and it's rare to find a producer who is top level with both musical imagination/expressiveness and technical mastery. I love Camellia and Moe Shop; they're also among the best -- but PSYQUI is operating on another level entirely
I have never seen such talent in producers before. this shit is def some next lvl shit. I feel like there are 3 songs in this one song. literally insane
@@Jah_Rizz Typically, when the letters 'P' and 'S' are put together back-to-back, the P is silent and the S is pronounced instead. I don't know the proper pronunciation but it would probably be like @Donson has written it. Maybe even like "Sy-chee"
@@yukiko_akiyama I guess technically you could do it, just every measure would only be one beat and that beat would be a half note. It would be the same as 2/4.
It's just 4/4 like 99% of EDM, and yes there are cool rhythms layered on, in the idiom of the future [*] genres. PSYQUI often pushes groove complexity to the next level, though -- sometimes one instrument will be in a swing feel, most of the others straight, and yet others shifted just off the beat.
@Peter J. I get what he's saying tho. It's those chopped hits and interwoven funky grooves that make PSYQUI's tunes (and more generally, future [ *] EDM styles) slap so hard. 4-to-the-floor hits different after a glitched out tweaking intro
thanks to the person on maryland who recomended this you saved me from a bad situation saludos desde buenos aires y que viva el postpunk and dont forget to hydratate yourself
Every psyqui song has a tinge of nostalgia in it. For example, in this song 0:49 sounded really nostalgic to me, like some event happened a long time ago and during it I was listening to this song. I absolutely love every one of psyqui's song and I hope they never stop making them. ♥️♥️
theres a chord called the Nostalgia chord. Its most commonly used in a chord progression similar or exactly like the one showed here. Its actually very very common in japan but in western music the standards are different and therefore the music is different too. Ofc western EDM is not worse than eastern EDM but it simply just has different tastes, feels, and standards. Jazz chords are also a thing you should look into if you're interested in these kinds of nostalgia feeling songs.
@@moaow316 oh my god thank you for replying to this comment. I forgot to save this to my playlist and I've been looking it for a solid nine months now. Your comment let me find it again.
