I had a hankerin to hear some of the out of order amps beside each other so I gathered all the time stamps so one could jump between the ones they wanted to compare. Monoprice had the best clean followed by the Wangs 5. Thought the Monoprice sounded kinda farty overdriven though. Kinda liked the Mooer AC driven, followed by the Wangs 5... So overall, I'd have to say the Wangs 5 watter was my favorite.

I got a Monoprice, 15 watt, a few months ago and it has completely replaced all my other amps (many more expensive). Really hard to beat.

For me the Mooer AC wins, seems very usable on both clean and overdrive, the Monoprice sounds very good clean IMO and the Blackstar and orange both sound not bad at all, but not exactly my cup of tea. Miss Marshall style clones though...

Awesome work, Dan. I have the 15 watt Monoprice and love that it has an FX Loop. Like the 5 watt version you show here it has a really handy attenuator for hitting that sweet spot without shattering the windows.

The Blackstar is still the one that sounds best to me, so the head is what I would go for coupled with a 12" Celestion Greenback or similar in a homemade cab. Great demo.

Me being biased,I love my Micro terror wouldn't trade it for anything ,though the Mooer sounds great to. Since I use my MT both on small cabs and 4x12s it's so powerful when on a big cab,yet great bedroom amp when on my 1x8 Orange cab. If I get the time, I'll so build a 1x12 like you did before. Great video brother

I don’t think you’re wrong. The Mooer AC and the Micro Terror both sounded pretty well-balanced with good clean and dirty tones, at least to my ears and on crappy iPad Pro speakers. I’d have to give them another listen, but those two seemed to be the better two of this bunch.

@@PlayerUnknown05 Hey pal! The MT has a head Phone Output,but its Sounds awful,don't know why they haven't got a proper headphone sound. So if your buying it for using it with headphones,dont! I play a lot of guitar using headphones,but I usually use my iPad and garageband,i think those cab/amp sim are great

I like the gentle tone of the MOOER BM most myself, though it lacks slightly in the overdrive department compared to the rest of em. I think a good overdrive pedal and sone reverb could make a huge difference in tone. I just wish the mooer had an fx loop

Yeah, it's a tie between the Zombie and the Blackstar, I think the Blackstar has a better clean channel for what I do in my own music. However both of the driven channels are the kind of channels where I can keep my gain mid-low and still have a good distortion, while having gain to spare!

I have to throw my vote to the Blackstar all around, but in a very metal situation, the Zombie might be the one to choose. You were spot on with the Mesa comparison. It sounds as if it's always on the verge of screaming feedback.

I think BEST "All Around" for me was the MOOER AC. and BTW 2 amps that would fit in this category that I own and love and so will you - Look into the CRATE Vintage 58 (V58) - Great tube tone and yes it has a custom voiced Celestion 8" speaker - and next is the VOX Lil' Night Train. Both are non-biased amps so you can change out tubes to your hearts content with out having to spend on an amp-tech to bias the amp and that is a good thing because I have tried several different tubes and you will hear definite different tones every time. I buy & sell used gear all the time but these two are keepers.

For me the Moor little AC seemed to have the best clean sound. It is hard to pass up the high gain sounds of the Joyo Zombie or the Micro Terror. While the Little AC had quite a nice crunch sound, it lacks high gain. It would probably go well with a tube screamer.

You are right. Because of the headroom, it’s hard to push the mooer into high gain.

That Monoprice "Champ" copy sounds killer! That amp comes close to the legendary Champ sound with the help of your great little cabinet. That's very impressive using those cheap Chinese components. With a proper 1x12 like yours and some quality tubes and that thing will sing! Cheers from Louisiana \m/

I think the Blackstar is the best of both. I’m also really into the Wangs Mini 5 as a close second for clean and overdrive. If I had to choose a 3rd, it’d be the Micro Terror.

This was helpful. I'm in the beginning stages of shopping for a little (5w or so) practice amp. Unfortunately, I am having trouble finding what I want... a pedal platform that is all crystal clean all the way up to 11. I would like to find an amp that just plays what I put in it, with no "sounds like" or "modeled after" or "clone of" going on. In this list, the Mooer Little Monster BM looks to be the best choice, so I'll put it at the top of my list and start there. Thanks!

For me, the best both overdriven and clean is the mooer Bm. I have the monoprice 5w and it's really good but I prefer the mooer Bm, it has so much headroom and early rock and roll tone. I'm quite surprised but the orange micro terror is really good for clean tones, and the overdrive is ok. The worst is the blackstar. It's doesn't seem to have a lot of clean headroom, it overdrives too quickly for my taste.

Mh, i think i like the Joyo Atomic the best. Also, maybe i'm crazy because i seem to be in the minority with this opinion, but i don't like the distorted tone of the Blackstar at all.

Hey Dan, great couple of videos. I have a vox mv50, a hybrid which uses a vox ‘nutube’ and solid state. While it’s great to record with and fits in my pedal board case, it does seem to not have a great amount of headroom before saturation. Do you get better headroom and overall volume from an all tube even if it’s lower power? My other guitar player uses a tiny terror which seems much louder clean.

A tiny terror is a 15w amp. You can’t really compare it to these 1w and 5w amps. These will saturate and distort at lower volumes, but that’s the point. The mooers had the most headroom.

Guns and Guitars - I know but my point is the vox mv50 I have is 50w, but isn’t as loud as the tiny terror which is 15w. The tiny terror is all valve, the vox is not, so I wondered if it was louder because it was all tube not hybrid.

i don't want to go out of my way to be mean to blackstar, but that amp on distortion channel is really one of the worst i've ever heard. that wangs vt1h though, i really really really enjoy that sound. the mooer little monster ac probably sounds the best, but only by a hair better than the vt-1h. both are awesome. the monoprice is nice, sounds like a decent champ. i wonder if that's the cheapest champ clone.

Orange sounds best!!!! Both in clean and overdrive! Has much larger range of sound than the other besides the blackstar. Why pay twice as much for it though?!?!

In my opinion, the footswitch alone is worth twice the price. Same with the built in usb recording interface. Same with the two additional voicings.... I agree with you, the orange is a great value, I just believe the blackstar is a great value too if one can afford it.

@@GunsandGuitars the problem is then what do with the countless pedals I already have??? All these micro pedals meant just for these very amps! Great video anyway! Im always enjoy showing up with gear I paid less than half for, for band practice and generally I keep up or out do the rest of the band with quality products and most of the time you've got the pedals and builds on the money! Pedal reviews on you channel make me spend 💰! You must be doing something right, keep up the good work!

Clean they all sound good overdrive not so much. To me they all had a tinney sound the mooer and the orange had the best overdrive sounds. I was disappointed in the blackstar overdrive. But this was by far the best test I’ve seen on any channel you keep it short and no BS in between.

Glad you liked the test! The blackstar has tons of tone options for the overdrive because of the isf knob. You likely just didn’t like the setting I chose. That’s okay. Nobody likes my tone lol.

Only the blackstar and the stage right have speakers built in. In this demo I plugged each of these amps into a 12” speaker cabinet.
