Back in the late '80's we were fortunate enough to live 8 miles south of Hood River, Oregon up to an old mill area known as Dee Flat (just a few miles from Parkdale, does that help? Nah....). We lived in a house in the middle of apple orchards and back in the woods was a neighbor's house and in the shed/garage were an Original M3 AND an M5, both black. What a shock in an area known more for trucks and tractors sat these two gorgeous jet black German thoroughbreds!
Wow, Bob! What an awesome e28 BMW! As an owner of two 1990 e34s (a 525i and 535i) and a 1990 e32 (750iL), I love seeing these classics. Great video, thanks! :)
Awesome Bob!! The M5 is one of the best early sleeper cars. I have never driven one, but always been a fan. I had a black 88 GLi, soo the M5 was a dreamer car. Enjoy the 800 mile Shakedown.
Whoa great condition, i had a black e30 and this is making me miss. Rare m5 too, when i was a kid i remember seeing one and wondering why someone changed the exhuast and put it off center, now i know thats how they came
She's a beauty Bob, these E28's are such nice driving cars, you need to keep that one. You may consider changing those awful bumpers though! The euro bumpers are so much prettier
The stripe was hand painted by Billy Jay (the signature by the trunk release). He is a well known painter in the Indianapolis area and has painted a few things for me.
It's signed "meloy" My dad and i spent 20 years trying to find out exactly who signed it and where it originated from but it originally came in from houston tx when shipped over seas thru customs.
When BMW was actually worthy of the 'Ultimate Driving Machine', Don't sell it. You'll never find a nicer one. the trick with the 750 bushings as well means you have the best handing one in the States too...;D
Sad to see this one go. I cried a little when you pulled out of the driveway. (i never get emotional over cars). My dad loved his baby and made some amazing memories for my brother, mom, and i with this car. One day i do plan to take a trip and see her again when all gussied up.
Over engineered everything. The plastics in that car look brand new and better than any 2024 model. A piece of history is what this is. Great find Bob! Dave is a great guy.
Absolutely stunning and i love the pinstripes it really makes the car pop!! I bought a 1985 corvette in 2007 i have only driven it a handful of times. The corvette has only 4 thousand miles on it, i see myself only as its caretaker. I really have enjoyed the trip so far and i am excited to see what you buy next. God bless my friend.
This isvjust a beautiful car. I love the sound the engine makes when you rev it up. BMW finest car of that era. I hope he keeps it for himself. Where are you gonna find another one so pristine.
I'm really digging Tails from the trip adventures, especially with cars like these! Bob, you are the master at finding the rare ones! Keep up the great work! 👍🚗🚙🛻
